I recall when we went to an Apple Store last December about a new phone the person mentioned getting some sort of trade-in value depending upon the phone, but since our phone was a 4S with a broken external speaker we probably would not have gotten much and it could still serve as an iPod. However, this is may not have been from Apple itself but instead from AT&T with whom we were planning on using the phone even though it was an Apple Store salesperson who mentioned it (and to be honest they do not always have correct information).

Apple will give you 10% off the price of a new iPod if you trade in an old one. (Note, it's not 10% for each iPod. Turning in both wouldn't get you 20% off.) You'll probably get more for them if you sell them yourself. Why would you bin them if they work?

If you can't reach the previous owner or he/she is unwilling to cooperate, then the device is unusable by you. Return the iPhone for a refund if you can.

You have apparently purchased a jailbroken phone. You can try to get it into recovery mode, then restore as new, but no guarantee it will work.

I just started using the Pages app on my iPad2. Two questions: 1. Do I have to buy the Pages iPhone app separately or will the iPad version sync to my iPhone 3GS? 2. Am I able to sync Pages docs created on my iPad2 for viewing/editing on my iPhone 3GS?
You can use the File Sharing feature at the bottom of the iTunes Apps pane when you connect to iTunes. Transfer the documents to your computer, and from there to your iPhone.

Best way to buy a used iPhone 3Gs?
I lost my iPhone on a New York City bus today and I doubt there's any chance I'll be getting it back I belong to AT&T and unfortunately my contract isn't eligible for renewal and won't be for another year. I don't want to pay full price for a new 3Gs or a 4G, so I am thinking about buying a used phone to last me for another year, until I can renew my contract and get a new phone. Does anyone have any tips or advice about where to buy a used iPhone and what to lookout for? I'm a little bit nervous about buying from Craigslist or Ebay, but it seems like these sites may be my best option.

Verizon, like virtually all CDMA carriers will not activate a device on their network that was not sold for use on their network.
To activate an iPhone on Verizon it must be purchased either directly from Verizon or from Apple (or an authorized reseller) for use on Verizons network.
On AT&T and all other GSM carrier iPhones (including Unlocked iPhones) the CDMA antenna is disabled. -

What exactly do you see when trying to buy a game, what messages do you get on-screen ?
If it's an account that you've just created then unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store. You should be able to remove the card after entering its details.

There is no universal list of phones that have been reported stolen. Also, in the U.S., if the phone was on an account that was cancelled for non-payment, you may not be able to activate that phone again on the same carrier until the debt is resolved. -

Hi, I am thinking about buying a used iPhone 5s. The seller states that the phone will be supplied with at least 4 months Apple warranty. Can someone please confirm that Apple warranties can be passed on when selling Apple devices.

Recently updated the the apple tv remote app for my iPhone4. Now can no longer turn on the apple tv "box" on/off using iPhone app as I used to do before the update. Only thing that shows on iPhone screen is music library. Home Sharing is on. Any help appreciated. Sorry if this is not exactly the right place to post this!
One clue: I have found a reliable way to solve the problem when it happens.
In my network, I have the main Airport Extreme (Gen 1) which is connected to my router, which distributes IP addresses to my internal subnet. The other two AEs (one Gen 4, one Gen 5) are set to extend the network.
When I get this problem with an AppleTV 2 that can "see" my library, but when I try to open it, it says it couldn't find the library, it seems to have to do with a change in which Airport Extreme it's talking to.
If I restart the main Airport Extreme from the Airport Utility, effectively restarting the entire wireless network, then when the network resumes, every AppleTV 2 is happy again.
Unfortuntely, the problem does seem to recur - but I'm wondering if it's because temporary interference leads an AppleTV 2 to try to connect to a different AE, and somehow that's mucking with the Home Sharing. Remember, internet access (Trailers, Store, Netflix) have no issues. Purely Home Sharing.
