Since the touch was supposed to come out yesterday, does anybody know if most apple stores have it in stock?

Here's all I know. Best Buy got some in a week or so ago and sold out immediately. They said some more are expected in a few weeks. By a stroke of luck, I found an 8GB at Comp USA yesterday and I bought it. I'm not sure how long they had it or if it was a new shipment. BTW, I LOVE it!
So I can't really answer your Apple store question, but I thought you might want to know where else they've popped up.

I have called my local store in Santa Rosa Ca every day since the 22nd of september. They always say out of stock. I have saved the phone in my cart @ the online apple store and log in everynight just at the moment the on store pickup option has been turned on. Every night I get the same message unavailable and it's unavalable in all stores within a large radius. So today I go into the store because I know the at&t store in the same shopping mall expected to get delivery of more iphones at 4:00. So I stop by the apple store only to be told they sold out. I asked the manager if they have replenished stock since the first sell out on the 22nd and he said yes they have been getting new stock regularly however they sell out shortly after they open @ 10:00 am. So I'm thinking hmmmm. This means the online inventory doesn't work, the store holds all incoming inventory until the next day and won't tell you when the next order is due in. So if you need a phone like I do, since my screen is cracked, your basically screwed until Apple decides they are going to give their stores enough stock to last until the next delivery, the online inventory starts working, or the stores tell you when they expect another order to arrive so you can show up then. I don't see any of those things happening any time soon or at all.

As you haven't mentioned which country you are in, it's a little difficult to advise further, but some countries are offering an online reservation, pick up in-store system now.

Can I take my new MacBook Pro retina to an apple store for them to transfer files from my PC? I am migrating from window 7. I was planning on doing myself but it looks like you need two thunderbolt to Ethernet adapters and two Ethernet cables? What is the best way to transfer? What you can transfer to your Mac depends on the files.
Photo files (.jpg .tiff etc) fine
Music files - some may need conversion software to be used in iTunes (unless you had iTunes on your PC) but free converters are there
Video files - ditto, some will work in iMovie, others may need converting to work
Text - Pages will read .doc and .docx files. Most Word processing files/spreadsheet files/presentation files can be read in iWork but if not, can use Open Office or Libre Office (both free downloads)
Windows programs (eg those with a .exe suffix) won't work on a Mac without installing Windows (e.g. via BootCamp).

As explained to me during a phone call to the Apple Store on Knox Ave. in Dallas, TX, USA, on 24 AUG, the Apple Store's can usually provide the easier upgrades that are available, like RAM upgrades, but they cost more than to configure to order through the Online Store. In the Apple Stores you purchase the stock model and then pay for the available upgrade.
For example, on a Core 2 Duo, just with the RAM Upgrade you buy a stock 17" with the 2.0 GHz chip and 1 Gb (2 x 512 Mbs) RAM. If you upgrade the RAM to 2 Gbs it will cost you US$600 in the store and you get 2 x 1 Gb in the Mac, plus the 2 x 512 Mb are also yours. But the upgrade to 2 x 1 Gb is only US$175 through the online store.

Disappointed after buying Apple Product...

because sometimes they are prevented from sharing such information? they don't know? could even require sending it 'out' to a repair center.
though with most electronics, there is only so much that can be swapped out, and even then a new unit and let engineering see what and why.... and maybe there is a defective chip, sensor or even shorting

There's only one way to find out what Apple might do in your case. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
I will say though that I've had two iPads and an iPhone and my wife also has an iPhone. Total use time is 6-7 years and we've never had a cable tear or fail.

Apple Store Item: Not in stock in my country but it is somewhere else?

Hey, I've been after a limited edition Apple Store item however it seems to be out of stock / discontinued in the UK. When I try to click on the Google link to it it can't find the page. And it is in stock. So is there no way I could get this?

The Australian Apple Store will not ship to the UK. But that's not an Apple product; the Apple Store is just a reseller like any other, so the product may be available from other dealers.Try contacting Monster and ask if they still distribute that headset in the UK. Otherwise, you'll just have to search UK dealers and hope someone still has stock.
