Do Apple stores sell any refurbished macbooks

i saw a refurbished $1299 unit on Apples website for $899
But i would prefer to pick it up myself rather than have a UPS or Federal Express driver do an Ace Ventura on it while in transit
is this possible? Do Stores carry refurbs?

Stores do not stock refurbished products. But, as
mentioned above, they may be able to order one for
you. Best bet is to call and ask.
I have heard (and experienced) exactly the opposite. Each local store has a supply of refurbished products in addition to those on the open box/discount table by the cash wrap. When I am in an Apple Store on the mainland, I ask them what "renewed" or "refreshed" products they have in the back. I've never been told they don't have any.
As for having Fedex do an "Ace Ventura" on your computer, how do you think all of the millions of other Apple computers are delivered? How do you think those in the Apple Store got there? They all came via Fedex. My MacBook just arrived on Friday. It went from China to Anchorage to Indianapolis to Memphis to Honolulu and then to Maui. They specialize in packaging: Elegant and functional.

  • Replacement iPhones in the UK from Apple Store new or refurbished?

Are replacement handsets offered in the Apple Store new or refurbished? From speaking with the staff there they referred to them as Service Grade handsets and I did notice the box containing the handset had a quality control sticker applied to it.
I am looking to exchange my faulty iPhone but do not want the replacement to be a used and refurbished handset while I am within 14 days of original purchase.
Thanks for any help or information offered.

I doubt you would get a refurb in return. Most of the stock in the UK will still be new stock and their first distribution point will likley be through the uk applestore, but i'm guessing it might be a month or two before they show up. Refurbs can be unsold old stock (unopened) or unwanted returns (openened) or even repaired stock. Before they go on sale they test them out for a while to catch any obvious issues. Typically they are a good deal.
I'm sure if you returned to the applestore and they agreed to a replacement (within 1 year not 12 days) ask that it be from new stock and they will oblige.

Then it simply was NOT Brand New. Doesn't matter what the box looked like when you got it or if you went through the setup pages when you first turned it on. If it is registered to some other Apple ID then someone else had originally registered it and locked it to there ID.
Type in the serial number of the system into this page.

And see when it was originally registered.
Then send it back to Amazon as Used.

So I bought a brand new macbook from Amazon, and it came factory sealed (Not my first time buying a macbook, last one I bought was from Apple directly) but after I got this, I put in my apple I.D. and it told me there were updates available. I told it to go ahead and update, and it updated about half of the list, but the essential stuff (pages, notes, etc) it says "This software was installed using another Apple I.D. Please logon with that I.D. to install the software."  I'm a bit baffled by this as it is a brand new mac and so I don't know why anyone else's I.D. would be logged into this mac.  I'm not really worried about it though, as I don't really need to update my pages, etc, as I like what I have, but I'd love for this stupid "updates availble" popup to stop popping up every freaking day!!!
Anyone have any suggestions on finding out how to either gain access to update, or get rid of that "other" i.d. that is somehow associated with my brand new macbook?
I'm running OSX 10.9 if that is of any consequence.

  • Is there any obvious benefit to buying my imac from the apple store vs. Best Buy?  Saves $40 so I am contemplating not haggling with crowds at Apple Store.  Any thoughts?

Return policy may be different from Apple's vs Best Buy. Regardless of crowds, only buy from Apple. Dealing with Best Buy in the future, if there's a problem it may not be worth what you believe to be a $40 savings.

  • BLACK MACBOOK,APPLE STORE,SELL

i have noticed that they dont sell refurbished black macbooks anymore, i need to know if there is anywhere i can get them (without bidding like ebay). Also i wonder what do they do with the nice leftover stack that doesnt get sold???? do they dispose of the extras after a new generation is released,Give them away,or sell it to 3rd party sellers. i personally THINK that they sell it to sellers.

    Hi jjbat87,
The list on Apple's website for refurbished products changes regularly... dare I say multiple times a day. There were a few instances when I was searching for a computer where I'd check it regularly and would see some products at 8:00am that weren't there by 2:00pm, only to see new products that weren't listed at 8:00am.
I've seen black MacBooks on a fairly regular occurrence, certainly enough to where within a week or two they'll be up there. Just bookmark this page and check it a couple of times a week:
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/macbook
Also, from my experience, Apple updates the content of the page between 2:20-4:00am. At least during the week, I'd imagine to ensure fresh pickings for the east coasts at 7:30am (those post times are California time). I've seen some of the older MacBooks gone within 25 minutes of being posted. Especially when the older, white iMacs go up for $699... they're gone within an hour.

  • Is there any way to find out if an apple store can replace a macbook air battery whilst you are there before you go there?

My MacBook Air has come up with the Service Battery warning and isn't holding charge as well as it used to.  I expect the battery needs replacing.
How do I find out if an applestore can replace it there and then?
I've been told I need to go online to book a genius appointment, and online the nearest apple store is one that can service macbook air laptops.  However, when I go online and select book genius appointment for mac at this applestore it says "There are no available appointments at this store".
When I speak to apple on the phone, I am told, it is not possible to tell me on the phone whether apple stores have spare batteries or not for my macbook air.
On Tuesday I may have time to go to this apple store (Liverpool) without a genius appointment, but not to the next city (Manchester Trafford Centre).  When I look for appointments at the Trafford Centre, the only available slot in the next 7 days is on Friday which I cannot do as I am not in the country.  It is not possible to book further forward.
So, I really don't want to be going on a wild goose chase trying to find somewhere that can provide and fit a new battery.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated as to how I can get a new battery fitted for my macbook air as soon as possible.
As this is not a rant or complaint (my previous post was removed), I also would like to clearly provide the same constructive criticism as included in my previous post.  When the problem "Service Battery" is highlighted by the laptop, in this "connected world" we live in, I think excellent customer service would be being able to book a genius appointment from your laptop with 1 or 2 clicks and also to be able to buy and reserve a battery to be fitted there and then.
As my macbook air is critical for my work and I used it 7 days a week, I really need to be able to replace on applecare customer service to fix this.  Thanks.

call them, tell them you NEED a new battery installed, and they need to tell you when they can do it.  That is their job to help you! Give pushback if necessary.

  • Apple store offered me refurbished iPhone 4 for replacement, I declined...

I went to a local Apple store yesterday to see if they have any option for my Death Grip iPhone 4.
After short demonstration about loosing reception, he brought a shrink wrapped black boxed iPhone 4. I asked him if it's a refurbished unit and he said yes, he also mentioned it's a service unit they received from factory. Its serial number was starting with 850 (mine as well)
I declined for exchange since I had a bad experience with 3G refurbished unit from Apple before (wireless dead after 4 months and battery was so bad)
But I'm wondering if it's really a refurbished iPhone 4 since it's only been 3 days from official launch.
Does Apple make extra new units for replacement service for newly launched products? If so, I'll go get it tomorrow.
    Any comments?

That's weird they would have refurbished already, but yes they usually do warranty replacements with refurbished product.
    According to Apple:
Apple Inc. (“Apple”) warrants this Apple-branded hardware product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of retail purchase by the original end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a hardware defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option and to the extent permitted by law, Apple will either (1) repair the hardware defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or (3) refund the purchase price of the product. Apple may request that you replace defective parts with new or refurbished user-installable parts that Apple provides in fulfillment of its warranty obligation. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part that has been installed in accordance with instructions provided by Apple, assumes the remaining warranty of
the original product or ninety (90) days from the date of replacement or repair, whichever provides longer coverage for you. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Apple’s property. Parts provided by Apple in fulfillment of its warranty obligation must be used in products for which warranty service is claimed. When a refund is given, the product for which the refund is provided must be returned to Apple and becomes Apple’s property.

  • Connected wirelessly to Canon printer MX340. Duplex printing option is grayed out for me but not on my daughter's non-Mac laptop or husband's PC which is connected to the printer. Mine has two-sided option available at the Apple store. Any ideas?

We use a Canon MX340 series printer/fax/scanner. My husband has his PC hooked to it and my daughter prints wirelessly from it with no problem with her non-Mac laptop. I have trouble printing. Often it does not print and I have to delete the job from the queue. Other times it will print OK but two-sided printing is always grayed out in my printing options. When I took it to the Apple store and printed on their network (selecting their printer) the two-sided option was available. Makes me think the printer is set up wrong, but I am not certain. A fw times at home when trying to print I got an error message about incompatible fonts, but it printed anyway after deleting the job and starting over. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    OK, just an update.
Two years into this, I still find I can only do full duplex printing by using Windows XP running inside of VMWare. I've had occasional, ephemeral luck with duplex printing, but nothing long lasting.
I've tried this in Tiger and Leopard (now at 10.5.6), and I've had this issue with Canon printers MP780 iP4300 and MP610, direct connected to my Core2Duo 17" MBP. I also have this issue when printing over a network, but that's a much harder problem to solve.
Currently, this is my #1 most pressing issue for my Mac, because not being able to print from a computer when you print a lot is a really big drag, and using VMWare all the time is also a really big drag. Other people posting seem to be able to print in Duplex using the very same printers. What could be wrong with my MBP? I see the duplex box option, but most of the time it's grayed out as if my printer doesn't support duplex.
I've tried direct selecting printer drivers from the system preferences, but nothing seems to have an effect. And this is off of a clean Leopard install.
My wife now has similar problems with her new MBP - the Canon print drivers (CUSP & non CUSP) aren't allowing the Duplex box to be checked.
I am willing to pay good money to anyone who thinks they can fix this problem.
    Thank you,
    - Jeff

  • Does the apple store sell sim to thoes who what to use there phone as a i pod ?

so i got the i phone 6 for christmas and i want to use it as an i pod and i dont have a sim cart and its a unlocked phone ... do u know if the apple store has a sim card just to acctivate stuff like this ? or where i could find a sim WITHOUT any plan ?
***i am not able to bypass the acctivation so i need help !
    please help

Not to my knowledge. They do not have a supply of SIM cards. Do you have a cellular phone at all? Do you have a friend with one that has the same size SIM as the phone you have? You can use one of theirs. Why would someone get you an iPhone as opposed to an iPod if you do not have a cellular account?

  • Is the price for your production the same in all apple stores of any country?

I mean if i buy, for example ipad, in some apple store of Germany, is the price of this ipad would be the same, like in the usa?

Besides Sales tax vs Value Added Taxes, there are import duties, Corporate Taxes for earnings in each country, and general operating expense for any Apple presents in the country.  I'm sure I overlooked something.
And currency exchange rates.  A straight exchange rate might come out at 92.63.  You know any company offering a product is going to round that up to 99.95 in what ever curreny the local country uses.

  • Pages purchased via Apple Store not installed in MacBook Pro

Hi, I bought a new MacBook Pro  recently (Mac OS X Version 10.7.4). I purchased Pages via Apple Store and click the 'INSTALL' button. After that I found that Pages is never installed in my computer (I check the applications folder and could not find pages installed in it). Can anyone help me out.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Dina

    Dear Jerry,
Thank you for the reply. Sorry for the delay in replying.
You are right. There is an application in MacBook Pro (Lion) with the name App Store.
I purchased the software using this application only.
I am sorry. I did not purchase it online in apple online store. I purchased online through this application (App Store).
Finally, I figured out. I had a previous installation of iWork in my MacBook Pro (Lion). I read in the internet
about this and came to know that I should go to Library/Preferences/ and then delete Com.Apple.iWork.
I did this. Rebooted the system and then tried to install. I was successful and now Pages is installed.
Thank you very much for the help.
