Do Apple UK unlock IPhone 6s bought on contract? If so, how much is it?

i travel for business and would like to be able to use my phone in the UK and abroad, with a overseas SIM card. i'd like the phone to be unlocked by Apple so it doesn invalidate insurance, etc.
anyone done this?
or would it be easier to buy a contract-free iPhone in the first place?
thanks

As Phil says the only one that can unlock an iPhone is the carrier holding the lock. Apple is not able to do it for you.

It is going to be months before any unlocked iPhone 6s will be available.
Also be aware that the iPhone purchased in the USA will only have warranty service in the USA. Any warranty service will require you to bring it back to USA.

  • Unlocking iPhone 4 (bought without contract)

If i bought an iPhone 4 without contract in july 2010 paying the full price of it, can i get it unlocked by Apple?

As provided, ALL U.s. iphone are carrier locked and CANNOT be unlocked at all.  This is NOT a service offered for U.S. iphones at all.
No contract or no plan does NOT mean unlocked.

Can I still use the phone in Boston when I move there?
Only on a supported GSM carrier.
Will there be networks I cant use?
    Yes. CDMA networks.
As I understand it the 4S supports GSM and CDMA networks worldwide.
No, you've misunderstood. The GSM iPhone you can buy in Ireland supports GSM networks only i.e. AT&T

yes you can if there are GSM carriers in Mongolia.  If your phone breaks, you will need to send it to somone you know in the US to bring it to Apple for repair.

  • Does Apple sell Unlocked iPhones 5 in US?

I heard that apple sells unlocked iphone 5, but it runs out of stock very quickly? But do they actually sell it in US?

its already there in canada: http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone5
so if apple hasn't announced it 'today', hold your horses...they should in a few weeks. I was just replying to the post which said apple has never sold unlocked phones.

  • Can I buy an unlocked iPhone 5 without a contract?

Hello, I live in China. I'm visiting the US this winter, and I wanted to know if I could buy an unlocked iPhone 5 without a contract.
Since I'll only be visiting, I won't be needing it with a contract.
    Is this possible?
I would buy this in China, but I know for a fact that an iPhone 4s ALONE would cost about $800 US dollars.
I'd perfer not to spend that much money on a phone when I can buy the original.
China has the tendency to make fake products, and I definitely don't want to pay $800+ US dollars for a fake.
So is it possible I can buy an unlocked iPhone 5 without a contract?

but it will work on 3g in india...and also it seems much cheaper in US rather than in India...again no warranty but i think these types of gadgets work for long....
But the risk is high and sometimes it's not worth it. Anyway, good luck to you.

If you are still in the return window, then it can be returned and there will likely be a restocking fee.  You will pay the difference between the 16 and 32GB prices.
If you are outside the return window (typically 14 days), the only option is to sell the current device and buy the larger capacity device you want.

  • Can an Unlocked Iphone 4S bought from apple in Ireland work on any network in the USA?

So im moving to the united states in a months time and im considering buying an unlocked Iphone 4S from Apple here in Ireland. Can I still use the phone in Boston when I move there? Will there be networks I cant use? As I understand it the 4S supports GSM and CDMA networks worldwide. However on other websites I have read that If I buy it here then it will only work on AT&T over there. Is this true and if so,, Why?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ryan.

  • Will an unlocked iPhone 6 bought from the Apple website work in India on Indian carriers?

    Hey,
I'm thinking of buying an unlocked iPhone 6 from the Apple website. On the website it states that it will work on any of the carriers in the United States. Since it does not mention the possibility of its use in India, I wanted to confirm if it would be usable on an Indian Carrier with all the services enabled.

It will work provided you are on a supported iPhone carrier. In order to purchase it, you must have a billing and shipping address in the US.
You may not get 4G/LTE service outside the US.
You will not get any warranty or post-warranty support for the phone. You must return to the US or send the phone to a friend/relative in the US and have them bring it in.

  • Unlocked iPhone 5 bought in Canada not working in Brazil

    Hello folks!
I'm experiencing a disappointing issue here. I bought an unlocked Iphone 5 in the Pacific Centre Apple Store (Vancouver, BC) and paid the full price.
As I had a contract-free plan of Fido (with a regular SIM card), the attendent from Apple store gave me a nano SIM and asked me to go to the Fido store in order to activate it. So I did it. The phone worked fine in Canada but back to Brazil, I tried to insert 2 different SIMs from 2 different carriers (Oi and Tim) and this message appears for both: "This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked".
Who should I contact? I already tried to reset the phone before insert the SIMs but it didn't work. After reset the phone, the name of Carrier in "About" changes for the corresponding SIM, I see bars of signal but the message keeps appearing.
I hope someone can help me! =)
    Thank you.

Perhaps the phone that you purchased from the Apple store was not actually unlocked, but sim free instead, which means that the phone will lock to the first sim card that you insert into the phone - ie Fido.
To get the phone unlocked, you would need to contract Fido and see if they will unlock it for you.  Failing this, you would need to return to or contact the Apple store in Canada where you purchased the phone to see if the phone was truly unlocked or sim free and see what they will do about it.  If it was their mistake and the phone is still in warranty she should exchange it for you - if it was not an unlocked phone and you requested an unlocked phone, then they should still replace it for you.
Do you still have your receipt for this phone?  If so, it should tell you on this whether the phone is unlocked or not. Check it and see.

  • Unlocked iphone 5 bought in america work in sweden?

I bought an unlocked iphone5 from america yesterday. I will go to the Sweden. Is it work in sweden with sweden simcard? Is there anything to do?

If officially unlocked, it will work just fine. Hope you purchased your phone directly from Apple, because in the US, that's the only place you can purchase an officially unlocked iPhone.
BTW, you do realize your warranty/support will only be valid in the US, correct? Any issues & you'll have to physically bring the phone back to the US. And, your phone will not support LTE in Europe. US iPhones only support LTE in North America.

  • Unlocking iPhone 5 bought from Telefonica Movistar in Spain

I have an iPhone 5 bought from Telefonica Movistar in Spain over 2 years ago. I paid full RRP for this phone. I asked Movistar if it can be unlocked. They said they don't do it but for me to contact Apple directly to unlock. How do I get this done?

According to this article your carrier offers unlocking:
    Wireless carrier support and features
The unlocking process has to be started by the carrier, Apple can do nothing about it if they don't want to unlock the device for some reasons:
