Do connection retry options work?
In our load-balanced Access Manager setup, we often see the following error messages in the debug log file amAuthLDAP and this at times leads to operation failures.
netscape.ldap.LDAPException: Server or network error (81); Cannot contact LDAP server
at netscape.ldap.LDAPConnThread.networkError(LDAPConnThread.java:687)
at netscape.ldap.LDAPConnThread.run(LDAPConnThread.java:479)
To get rid of this error message, we were tweaking with the following property values in AMConfig.properties:
com.iplanet.am.event.connection.num.retries=3
com.iplanet.am.event.connection.delay.between.retries=3000
com.iplanet.am.event.connection.ldap.error.codes.retries=80,81,91
But from the debug log files, it appears that Access Manager does not retry opening a new connection!
Is this a bug in Access Manager?
Or are we missing something?
TIA,
Chetan
The LDAP authentication module uses an LDAP connection pool to contact the specified Directory Server.
If some of the connections has not been used for some while im pretty sure that the LB drops the idle TCP connection (of course without telling neither the client nor the server).
Have you tried to set the nsslapd-idletimeout of the DS below the one of the LB - this should resolve the issue.

IPad Web App full screen mode Network Connectivity Retry Option
Hi,
I have developed a web application in HTML5 for iPad (full screen mode). Now I am testing the application on iPad for connectivity scenario i.e. to see how the app behaves when the connectivity is lost and then resumed after some time.
Steps -
Launch the web application in full screen mode from home screen (connected to a wifi network).
Click on any button to submit the form and at the same time turn off external wifi modem.
A pop-up message appears with the options to close or retry.
Now turn on the modem and click on retry.
The expectation is that on clicking retry the data in the web form should be sent to the web server, but instead of POST request, a GET request is being sent. Because of this, the data filled in the form is lost as the page is simply refreshed.
Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanks
NitinThis is more of a feature of the browser already.
With iOS6, Mobile Safari on the iPhone introduced full-screen browsing support in landscape mode.
http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57513848-285/how-to-use-safaris-full-screen-mode-on-io s-6/
One isn't able to take advantage of this feature in portrait mode though. However, the meta tag you're referring to in order to hide Safari UI Components requires the webapp to be added to the Homescreen; then when you launch the site through the icon on the Homescreen, you would find the UI components hidden.
Also, the latest version of Chrome for iOS released a couple of days ago includes the ability to view pages in fullscreen as well (for both landscape and portrait modes) with scrolling gestures enabling the hiding and showing of the omnibox and toolbar while navigating down a page.

Wired connection doesn't work if cable is not plugged in at boot time
Hey all,
I started using arch a few days ago and I simply love it, but I have a problem. The wired connection doesn't work if the cable is not plugged in at boot time, or if it was plugged in at boot time, then plugged out and in again. Switching it off and on again via the gui has the same effect. I am using NetworkManager with dhcpcd, NetworkManager is started via systemd, dhcpcd is not, I let NetworkManager do that. When I started investigating this problem there were some remnants of netctl, but now NetworkManager is the only networking-related service started at boot time. When the cable is plugged back in, NM-applet shows that it's connected, and an IP address is assigned, but the connection doesn't work.
Here's some information regarding the system:
It's a lenovo G50-70 laptop, it uses the r8169 driver for ethernet. (I dualboot it with windows 8.1, but arch is default and all this stuff happens also if i only use arch)
The router is a Linksys EA2700/N600
journalctl -u NetworkManager

I couldn't find anything else to append, but if there are other log or conf files or anything else, which would help solving the problem, I should put here, please tell me.Try to use dhclient perhaps? Might I also suggest letting systemd deal with the dhcp issue and not NM. That may seem incongruous but it is possible NM is mis-handling the dhcp hand-off to the network card. I'm no guru but I got thinking about this when I saw this in your output:

It is very possible that I'm mis-interpreting this information so please take it with a boulder of salt. -
I started update connected to my work computer....it started update and now it is asking me to connect to Itunes, which I have but my work computer doesn't have my Iphone information, it says I have the latest software, my only option is to "restore phone" which I don't want to do here at work as none of my apps or music are showing up ..... I can't use my phone now when I start up it says connect to itunes.....
Mozilla has nothing to do with a Microsoft product activation key.
That "test" page should be viewed in Internet Explorer and not with Firefox, as it may use ActiveX which isn't compatible with any Mozilla product.

Retry option in partnerlink of BPEL.
Hi All,
Is anyone succeded using retry option in the partnerlink of BPEL.
I tried by setting the retryMaxCount and retryInterval property in the partnerlink. But that doesn't seems to work.
I couldn't able to see anything in the audit trail of BPEL Console.
I could able to do this through Error Handling Framework. But need to know if this could be done in partnerlink of BPEL.
Please comment.
Regards
JudeHi
As the previous post suggests that if the Partner Link throws an exception (e.g. BindingFault or remote Fault or other customer business fault) then the Fault policies can be configured at Partner Link level (e.g using te partner link name) to perform the respective actions such as retry, human intervention.
If using 10.1.3.3.0 or later , then the retryMaxCount and RetryInterval should be replaced with the use of a fault policy. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/pdf/10133technotes.pdf, chapter Fault Management Framework for further information.
You would need to configure the FaultBindings.xml to use a fault policy for you specific Partner Link name
Hope that helps -

I have 4 apps that will not update. Im mostly concerned with one, as it has a good amount of in-app purchases. It started to
Update and got 3/4 done then started over again. now im given the 'done/retry' option shortly after attempting an update. I've rebooted, reset(lost all my phone contacts thanks very much....), logged out of app store....
Perhaps its the wifi I'm using (cruise ship worker here), and will try again on a land wifi signal before worrying a lot. any help would be great.
In-store helper had me double click home and clear out all opened apps and that worked then , but not now. Also, just as a note, I restored my iphone last night, and it has made no difference.
One last thing... On itunes, when i click 'info' on apps that are said to be under my friends account (ie they will only update when he is logged in), it says that i purchased them under my account, yet it won't let me update them. -
SMO Connection Manager Not Working
I'm using SSDT 2012 to create SMO Connection Manager for transferring server objects. However the connection is not working, it always returns error message something like "server is not found". I tried to connect multiple servers, with both
Windows and SQL authentications, none of them works. I found the SMO.dll is already installed in the specific folder on my development machine. What would be the reason of this error? Thanks.
-------Edited----------------------------------------------------
Added the error message below. I can connect the server using OLEDB or ADO.NET. So my question is, is there a service, protocol or port .... to get SMO Server ready for responding?I see you used to connect to the local machine with the "." notation.
In this case shared memory is used, thus make sure this option is allowed.
I'd try connecting using the IP or the full name.

hi, not network, not connected hard, not work wi-fi or other name? i dont know, please what name other network?
Thank you!Check your system for possible Malware. But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
(Do not use your own Anti-virus to SCAN)
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
Install and perform update immediately, then do a full SCAN. Remove malware if it indeed finds any. Restart computer to regular windows to let Malwarebyte complete the removal.
To start your computer in safe mode
Press and hold the F8 key as your computer starts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the "safe mode with networking" option, and then press Enter. Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your screen. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally. -
How to connect my perfectly-working 20-year-old Apple Personal Laserwriter 320 to my iMac running Mountain Lion?
Thank you, Morty S.I have a perfectly-working LW 4/600 with exactly the same issue. They use localtalk - a long obsolete network connection, that doesn't connect to modern networks, and appletalk as the comm protocol.
I think the only choice you have is to use an old powerPC Mac as print server. You tell me which old Mac you have, with a localtalk connector, or that runs OS X 10.4 or earlier (so it speaks appletalk), and I'll tell you how I've done it for the past 11 years or so.
Right now I use a G4 running 10.4.11, plus an etherMac ethernet to localtalk adapter.
Before, I used a PMac 6100 running LPD server software. -
MacBook to tv connection no longer working. OS 10.8
I have a mid-2010 MacBook, running OS10.8. I was able to use my Panasonic TV as a monitor but the connection no longer works. I tried the "Safe Mode" solution and that worked for awhile. After trying to connect (unsuccessfully), when I turn the tv off (still connected to lap top) the lap top screen flashes blue for a nano second.
Any suggestions for getting around this problem?Your version of Mail didn't upgrade properly because you've moved it from its expected location location (to a sub folder you've named "APPLE apps").
Move it back into the HD/Applications folder and apply the 10.6.8 "Combo" update to fix things. -
I work from home and connect to my work via VPN.
Recently, I was being locked out several times a day. It was discoved that my Mac-Mini is trying to connect to my work network, but I have never set anything up for this to happen. How can I stop this? I set up on my Mac Mini a app called PocketCloud installed, but have deleted it, to connect remotely from my iPad or iPhone, but that is usually not running.
I now have to power down my Mac daily while working to avoid the intermittent lock out.
I have no other apps running that I can find.
My mini is connecting to my internet wirelessly. There is no network wiring.
I do see my work computer listed in the in the side bar under shared, but I cannot find a way to remove it. When I click on it, it attempts to connect and fails. I then get an error. "There was aproblem connection to the server "P44XX02". The server may not exist of it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Does anyone have any suggestions?Found the reason. Although I had deleted my work email account from exchange, hidden was the Addressbook entry that was trying to connect consistently. I deleted this from the setup and no more hidden attempts were made to connect.

Recently I can't connect to my work computer remotely and I can't print things even when I am using my desktop which is directly connected to the printer. If I go to Internet Explorer or AOL I have no problems but since I mainly use Firefox this has become a major problem.
I encounter similar problem. My TC detects my OKI printer which is connected to the TC via USB but I can't print unless I connect my printer to the TC via Ethernet. Would anyone know how to solve it. Thanks.

Bug (?) with Corporate Connectivity is (not) Working check
Noticed something odd. In situations where:
Direct Access client is offsite
their Internet access is via WiFi
they first have to enter their access credentials through a web-based captive portal before access is granted
then the Corporate Connectivity Check process malfunctions. Have seen cases where, after accessing the captive portal and being authenticated, Internet access works on the client. Direct Access then connects successfully. This is confirmed
on the server console, showing the client connected and the user credentials used. The client is able to access internal resources just fine (e.g. network drives on file servers).
But on the client itself, it still says Corporate Connectivity is Not Working. The WiFi icon is showing an exclamation mark. My belief is that this is caused by the client's inability to access Microsoft NCSI servers in a timely fashion.
So it looks like the corporate connectivity checks are dependent on Microsoft NCSI checks.
Can someone at Microsoft please look into this, as it is confusing our users (not to mention us guys in IT who have only just discovered this odd behaviour!).Hi Steven !
Thanks a lot for your guidance !
After I followed the steps, I found that the time out occurs when trying to resolve the internal domain name.
The Windows Firewall was enabled on all profiles ( active on the public )
There were no IPsec sessions established in the Security associations tab, so I enabled the audit policy of the IPsec as per your instructions.
There is reoccurring error in the Security log :
Date: 10/8/2014 10:08:49 AM
Event ID: 4653
Task Category: IPsec Main Mode
Level: Information
Keywords: Audit Failure
User: N/A
Computer: MyW8Client
Description:
An IPsec main mode negotiation failed.
Local Endpoint:
Local Principal Name: -
Network Address: MyW8Client_Ipv6 address
Keying Module Port: 500
Remote Endpoint:

Network Address: MY_DA_Servert Ipv6 address
Keying Module Port: 500
Additional Information:
Keying Module Name: AuthIP
Authentication Method: Unknown authentication
Role: Initiator
Impersonation State: Not enabled
Main Mode Filter ID: 180987
Failure Information:
Failure Point: Local computer
Failure Reason: Negotiation timed out
State: Sent first (SA) payload
Initiator Cookie: 9e636863e513b367
Responder Cookie: 0000000000000000
As far as I understand - the connection can not be established due to certificate error, which in my case is strange since my DA configuration is set to not use computer certificates, only Kerberos.
I will keep digging but any additional tip/advice will be appreciated!
Thanks again, Steven!
P.S. Just noticed that the Event ID 4653 produce two types of "Failure Reason" - apart from "Negotiation timed out" I also get "No policy configured"
