DO Corp. owned iPhones brick when wiped (employee registered for "Find My iPhone" with their iTunes account)

We issue Corp. owned iPhones to employees.  If the employee registers the phone for "Find My iPhone" using their personal iTunes account, if the employee leaves or is terminated and we have to wipe the phone, does the phone brick?

They do not brick, but it would be necessary to either turn off Find My iPhone prior to restoring the device or knowing the Apple ID/password that the Find My iPhone was setup with to turn it off afterwards.
Without this information, the device would be useless.

No. If you connect his phone to your iTunes account/computer, ALL iTunes content on his phone will be erased. By design, iPhone syncs or manually manages iTunes content with ONE computer at a time.

Sorry, unless she backup up the new phone before or is using iCloud to save the photos, the photos are gone.

I'm trying to sync my iPhone with my iTunes account, but they are on two different emails, help!

I really don't know what this means.
What do you mean "when I try to change the email on my itunes"?
Where on itunes are you changing an e-mail?  and for what reason?
Not sure at all what you are trying to do an it seems that you are confusing e-mail, itunes accoutns and libraries.
Please explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

  • Purchasing Apps for different non-linked iPhones with one iTunes account

    Hi:
Is it possible to use my iTunes account to purchase apps for different iPhones without linking those phones to my iTunes account?
I am trying to purchase a specific application (WhatsApp) for some friends who have iPhones but not iTunes accounts. I don't want to link those phones to my iTunes account, just buy this specific app for them.
When I try to purchase directly from their iPhones, I get a wrong password message. Is Apple blocking this purposely?
    Thanks,

All 3rd party apps - paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to purchase/download the app, so the answer is no.

  • Syncing two iPhones with one iTunes account, archive and install

I had a blue screen and had to archive and install.
I re-synched my iPhone and at that time put my iPhone contacts in my address book with
my group name, that I just created. I created a group for her and now want to re-synch her iPhone
with my computer and with my iTunes account, like before. I get a message that the info on that her iPhone is synched with another user account. A choice to merge info from this user account or replace info from this user account. I want to make sure that her contacts go into the address book, under
her group. I don't want to lose her her contacts on the phone, when I re-synch her iphone.

You should select the Merge option. If you don't, the existing contact information in the Address Book on your Mac will replace all contact info in her iPhone's address book.

  • Syncing an Iphone with multiple Itunes accounts

I recently traveled with my Iphone and when at my brother's place, I logged in to Itunes with my ID, purchased some tv shows for my daughter and was able to sync them to my phone. When I got home and synced with my own laptop, it told me it had to sync with my existing IPhone information and I would lose anything that wasn't in there. So I synced and the shows are now gone from my phone and my Itunes purchases. Isn't there a way to purchase where it downloads into Itunes store but it follows you b/c of the fact that you logged in to purchase it? I paid for those items so I feel like I should still be seeing them in my Itunes account here.
Did I just do something wrong? I have a Iphone G3.
    Thanks!

For media content - music, videos and movies - and apps, you can only sync an iPhone to one iTunes library. There's no way around that. So that's why you had the issue when you connected the iPhone to your home computer again. Anything that is not in your home iTunes library will indeed be erased from the iPhone.
Further, if you purchase an item from the iTunes Store on another computer, then with the exception of apps, you get only one download per purchase. So if you buy anything other than an iPhone app on any other computer, it will be your responsibility to either make sure it transfers to your computer from the iPhone - you do not let the iPhone automatically sync when you connect it, then you use the "Transfer Purchases from iPod" command under the File menu in iTunes to copy the purchased content from your iPhone - or you copy it from the computer to your own via a flash drive, CD, etc.
    Regards.

  • Syncing multiple iPhones with 1 iTunes account questions.

Hello community.  Just had a few questions about my iphone and my wifes.  I have had an iphone for almost a year now and have had my login email address and password set up since the beginning.  I have the iphone 4.  My wife today received her iphone 4s in the mail.  I also currently have my iphone set up on the cloud to sync my contacts and calendar.  We also have an ipad 2 which is set up through the cloud and I am the only person who uses this for work purposes.  One of the main questions I have is how can I sync her iphone and mine using the same iTunes account on our Mac book we have and at the same time not have every purchase or app downloaded onto both phones?  I use a few apps for work which she doesn't want but if she was to sync with the cloud or itunes she doesn't want to constantly delete the app or un-select it from syncing to her phone.  Also we do enjoy playing some of the same games especially against each other but is ther a way for her to have her own seperate login for either downloading apps or a different login for getting into the game center?  Also since we share the same wi-fi network at home is there a way to make it so that when I get home or she gets home and had downloaded apps while away that they don't automatically get sent to each other's phones or the iPad which I use for work?  Sorry if I'm a little bit of everywhere with the questions but just trying to get this resolved the best we can.  Thank you for all your help!

" how can I sync her iphone and mine using the same iTunes account on our Mac book we have and at the same time not have every purchase or app downloaded onto both phones"
Each device will only sync what you select to sync.  If your wife does not want an app, then she should not select it to sync.

Again, if she does not select them to sync, then they will not sync.

  • Can multiple iphones with multiple itunes accounts be synced to one mac keeping apps seperate over the air?

We have about 20 iPhone's in our environment and syncing and updating them has become a real chore lately.  Everyone has their own iTunes account and apps that they use. Is there a way that they can be synced, backed up and updated over the air (not iCloud) to the same MAC?  Because we are in the financial sector we will not be able to use iCloud. Should we look into some sort of private cloud and if so; any suggestions on how to accomplish it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    J

We have several macs, several ipods, a couple of iphones, several itunes store accounts. So far no problem. You might have to share passwords if you want to share content. I think iStore accounts can only be used on up to 5 computers. We have 7, so have to be a little careful about that. I don't think there is a limit on how many iDevices can be used with one account. I also don't think there is a limit on how many accounts can be used on a single computer (might be wrong about that). You have to be logged into the iStore to download content, and your computer has to be registered with the account to use the content, but once it is on, and registered, syncing to an iPod is not a problem (you do not have to login in again for each account the content was purchased from). I'm just glad I only have two kids, and one wife - things could get trickier in a big family with . . .

  • Multiple iPhones with 1 iTunes account in iOS 6

I updated my phone to iOS yesterday. When my husband did the same today, his phone is now set up to text using my name and id. It looks like everything he does comes out of my phone.  We share my iTunes account and he avoided using iCloud when it came out because it seemed problematic.  Are we going to have to set up and iTunes account for him?

  • HT1386 how to accoiciate my iphone with different itunes account?

I have 2 itunes account. my iphone is accociated with one of them, it's the old one. I want to change it so my iphone will be accociated with the new one. and I don't want to erase all the data on my iphone. how do I do it?

Because apple id's are unable to be merged you will be unable to update any content from the old apple id while signed into the new one.   Also, syncing and transferring purchases to the computer will cause a loss of information as well. Curious as to why you created a new apple id?

  • Activate European iPhone with US iTunes Account

I hope there are some US citizens living abroad out there that can answer this question...I have a US iTunes account and I want to purchase an iPhone in the Netherlands where I currently live and work. I will of course need to sign up with the mobile provider here, T-Mobile. My question is will I be able to activate my phone bought here with my US iTunes account? My assumption is yes since the two accounts are separate (iTunes and mobile account) but I thought I should try to confirm before I buy the iPhone.
Hope someone can help! I can't imagine I'm the only one with this question but I can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks for your help!

Hey! I might be able to help, but it depends on what exactly you're planning on doing that needs you to activate with your US account?
I'm not sure if iPhones need to be activated with a local account, but wouldn't be surprised if they do.
If you want to do it in order to buy things from the US iTunes Store though, there's nothing to worry about - you can change which iTunes account (and hence iTunes Store Country) your phone is bonded to for purchases any time you connect to iTunes. (The phone ties itself to whatever account the computer is currently logged into whenever you sync it.)
Or if you just want to use content bought on your US iTunes account, you don't even need to go that far, your computer just needs to have been authorised by your account to allow it to load it to the phone.
That means worst case is that you may have to create a Dutch iTunes account to activate your phone with, but you can then switch to using your US one for day-to-day purchases.

  • I have an ipod touch and my wife bought me an iphone.  While I was deployed, she used the iphone with her itunes account. We would like to switch devices (and apps). Is this possible?

OK, I now see how this works, so I am going to start a new post; please disregard this one.

Purchases are tied to the AppleID you used to make them, so not tied at all the any particular device.
If you backup the iPod to your computer accounts' iTunes, then just restore her iPhone from your iPod backup.  She can do the same thing for the iPod.  You will have then switched their configurations over from one device to the other.
