Do dual-core proccessors count for minimum spec on Flash Player 11?

According to the minimum specs for Adobe Flash Player 11 on a Windows computer it needs a 2.33GHz or faster x86-compatible processor.  The majoriity of our computers run dual core, or indeed quad core processors, but each core is less than 2.33Ghz.
My question is this, does the minimum spec of 2.33GHz apertain to each core or is it the total of all the cores i.e. a dual core 2.25Ghz = 4.5GHz processing power, therefore a dual core 2.25GHz would meet the minimum spec?
Another question regarding minimum specs, does the 128MB graphics memory have to be dedicated RAM i.e. VRAM, or can it be shared RAM?

Works on a 2.27GHz i5, try 11.1 on a computer and see how it works.  If it does not, try the 11.2 beta which can multithread cores.

No, yes.

For some reason, the Flash Player on my MAC Pro stopped working, I've checked the install on my Adobe Flash Player and the are current, but the plug-ins don't seem to be working.  Can anyone help me get it working?

It happened w/ my MacPro 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon about 5 months ago; tried everything I could think of including multiple downloads of Flash, and hadn't seen any solutions here.  Adobe insisted many times that I download & update, but the newest vers. wouldn't work on the computer.
On checking Adobe/Flash was reading the computer as being an earlier model. So the new version of Flash wouldn't work w/ it.  Snow Leopard 10.6.8 was being read correctly but not the computer model (can't remember what MP model  it was reading).
Nothing worked. So -- a very old PC trick: If nothing else works get the hammer out and bludgeon it-- might work. So I reset everything by putting the Snow Leopard  install disk in, held down 'C' on restart and let it run.
Didn't take anything off the HDD first, just ran the install disk over everything.
The experts on the forums are probably cringing right now & I'd like very much for them to jump in. Love to know how my computer model was being mis-read. All I can say is, for the brave and desparate, it worked for me. Something to keep in mind.
It helped that I had a new computer on order & have 2 backups, one being mandatory. Might work only the one time but worth a check.
Good luck on working this one out.

  • I have been trying for days to upgrade Flash Player on my Mac (Mac OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4

I have been trying for days to upgrade Flash Player on my Mac (Mac OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4, current Flash Player version 11.6.602.180), but each time that I download the installer and run it, there is a "General installation error" soon after starting the "Installing" phase.
Each time, the installer completes the "Creating Install" and "Downloading" phases, but soon after starting the "Installing" phase, an error occurs "Error: General installation error" and Safari is opened tohttp://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=30&type=inst all&appid=500
Is it unusual for another "Install Adobe Flash Player" app to open?  When the "Installing" phase begins, a second flash installer box icon appears in the dock, but then closes immediately and then the first installer shows the "Error: General installation error" page.

    Try this installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_playe r_11_osx.dmg

  • Does Adobe Reader for Android have the Flash Player Runtime

I have a PDF document that I generate which contains an embedded Flex application.
It works fine with the desktop version of PDF reader. However. It doesn't appear that
PDF reader for Android contains the Flash Player runtime.
Can someone from Adobe confirm this ?
    Thanks.

Dov, you confimed that Adobe Reader for Android has the Flash Player Runtime - I thought this feature is necessary to be able to show embedded  (flv) videos?
What about viewing cross platform proof PDF files containing mp4 (H.264) embedded videos?
Up to now I’m forced to show ezPDF Reader in my workflow scenarios - think about the bad psychology that I always will have explain that the rich media PDF workflows could work with Adobe products, but Adobe itself seems to limit PDF use cases in order not to become a competitor of let’s guess of FOLIO?
Please explain me why? No market? I would like to contradict as much as I can.
If someone starts to weaken the big possibilities for PDF even on mobile devices this seems to be Adobe itself: Where are the Adobe show cases showing rich media PDFs on mobile devices?
Almost everything Adobe is showing with rich media information is in DPS  based on Folio  (slide shows, videos etc).
You might get all the functionality much easier using PDF (seen from a classic DTP workflow using Word, FrameMaker or InDesign)
Why didn’t Adobe add more multimedia features?  Where is the 3D support on mobile devices?
Has Adobe changed the overall PDF strategy?
Where is an  Adobe PDF cross platform strategy for using rich media PDFs on PC, Macs, Android and iPhone/iPads?

  • ADOBE ANNOUNCE: Preparing for upcoming April 2008 Flash Player 9 security update

Flash Player team is doing some 'pre-communication' around
the security changes in the -next- version of Flash Player,
    releasing in April 2008.
So we're starting with some blog posts, articles and
technotes so that these changes can spread to the community. There
will likely be more than this by release time as well (and new
communication will come at that time).
    Blogs:
    Emmy Huang:
    http://weblogs.macromedia.com/emmy/
    Justin Everett-Church:
    http://justin.everett-church.com/
    Developer Center articles:
"Preparing for the Flash Player 9 April 2008 Security Update"
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player9_security_update.html)
Everyone should read and become familiar with the current
article on Flash Player 9.0.115.0's 'phase 1' security changes..
this outlines a lot of what's been changed, and gives you an idea
what to think about for the upcoming April release. "Security
Changes in Flash Player 9" (v9.0.115.0) at
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security.html.
There are a few other articles with specifics about
socketpolicyfile handling coming up, but they’re not quite
    done yet..
    Specific technotes w/ code:
    “Changes in allowScriptAccess default (Flash
    Player)”
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403183)
“Authorization header does not work for an HTTP request
    (Flash Player)”
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403184)
“Arbitrary headers are not sent from Flash Player to a
    remote domain”
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403185)
“Sockets do not function in Flash Player versions later
    than 9.0.115.0”
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403186)
“javascript:" URLs no longer function in networking
    APIs (Flash Player)”
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403187)[b
    technotes w/ code:

Is there a release date yet? I've had management phoning me
over the weekend panicking that the new player was going live this
weekend. When 9,0,115,0 came out our global financial trading
platform broke due to the socket security changes in release 115.
This time we are prepared (as we already use dynamically generated
socket policy files) although with no access to a beta player we
were unable to test. Unfortunately its just another bit of negative
perception of Flash/Flex that others can use to promote alternative
RIA platforms. I will have a fight on my hands this year to stop us
    migrating to Silverlight.
I'm signed up for security alerts from Adobe - is there a
mailing list for Flash Player release date? And why can't I see a
beta version of the new player in order to test?

  • Is it possible for me to get Flash Player on my iPad 3?

    Thanks for any help

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."
Download the Facebook app from the iTunes Store. Sign in with your Facebook ID and Password and you won't require flash to play videos.

  • Developing for both AIR and Flash Player

I'm developing an application that will be deployed on the desktop as well as the net, so I've got a number of interfaces at points of differentiation (such as file access) where I can swap between the different implementations using the following technique:
    switch(Capabilities.playerType) {
         case "Desktop":
              fileAccessInterface = new AIRFileAccess();
              break;
         default:
              fileAccessInterface = new NetFileAccess();
              break;
This works fine, especially when compiling for AIR, however, when publishing for the Flash Player, I'm still importing the AIR implementations of every interface even though they'll be unused. And of course, when I try to import an AIR-specific class (such as File, FileStream, etc.) when compiling for the Flash Player, Flash will give me an error:
"1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: FileStream."
This is obviously what you would expect to happen because it's an AIR-specific class. My question is, is there a way I can define a conditional import (such as pragma comments in other languages) depending on compile conditions? Or will I be forced to comment out all my import code for AIR-specific classes when compiling for Flash Player, and then uncomment again for AIR, etc.?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Problem solved.
I found the config constants section of the ActionScript settings to allow for conditional compiling. Exactly what I needed.

  • E-Mail Notification for new versions of Flash Player?

I work in a internal IT department with just under 500 PCs. I dot not have my user base setup with admin rights. So when a new version of Adobe Flash Player comes out, I have to have it tested. Then push it to a beta group and then deploy to the rest of the company. My question is that I would like to receive a notice via email that there is a new version out there that I should get started on my testing. Right now, my user base quite often find out before me or as soon as I do.
    Any Ideas?

I currently use a free web service called FollowThatPage.com which sends me an email anytime a webpage changes.
You could setup a watch pointed at the flash player versions page:  Archived Flash Player versions
And you'll get an email anytime the page is updated.  There are advanced options for filtering out changes only to the content you care about.

  • DW keeps asking for new version Adobe Flash Player

    Hello There,
I try to show a Flash-10 animation in DW CS4 and I get the messageVoor het weergeven van de inhoud op deze pagina is een nieuwe versie van Adobe Flash Player vereist.
In English: for representing the content of this page you need the new version of Adobe Flash Player.
I download the new version (two times: In IE 8 and Firefox) and I still get the same message. How come?
When I try-out in Flash everything is OK and the HTML-page is also OK in every browser there is.
Can anybody help me out this mess?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hello Waterdad,
Thanks for your reply, but it didnot solve the problem yet. I have the following remarks to your answer:
Yes, I am running Windows, but I have no firewall active. I do use Norton, but that should not be the problem.
How is it possible that directly from Flash everything works perfectly in publishing (Flash, HTML, etc.) and when I export the file to DW and make a blank page with only the flash-item it fails. For clarity: live view is also working perfectly.
The browser effect is then that IE8 does not react at all, Safari shows a blank page and Firefox comes with the announcement of the new version as noted above. So in one way or another the browsers recognize my brand new Flash version as an older one.
When I make a video in Flash, the f4v-extension does not work either, the flv-extension works perfect. Seems to be the same problem.
I hope you can say some more about a possible solution.
    Robert

  • Use VLC for YouTube and other Flash Player videos. Flash has become very slow and VLC Web Player works perfectly for other video websites.

I'd like to use VLC Web Player for viewing YouTube videos rather than use Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is very slow on my other computers and when websites use my VLC Web Player, I have no issues whatsoever. I'm curious if this can be done with Firefox, as I researched it only to find an add-on for Google Chrome only.

You may be able to disable Flash entirely and just use HTML 5 video codecs to view the videos this is faster but you may lose access to some videos such as ones that have mandatory advertisements.

  • Does Firefox for Android Tablet support Flash Player?

I have a Samsung Tablet. I like to play Call of Gods. It requires Flash Player in order to play it. I have found Flash media readers, video players, but not anything to play browser games.
Does Firefox have the Flash Player that I can use to play online games on my Samsung Tablet?

SrazZz is incorrect and also did not give a reason why Flash will would not work.
As of Android 4.1+ one needs Firefox 27.0 or newer in order to run the old Flash 11.1 plugin from Adobe. Mozilla nor the Firefox browser does not make or supply Flash.
There is no guarantee it will work properly or at all on some hardware and cpus. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-watch-flash-videos-firefox-android

  • Need step by step for video playing in Flash Player

I'm new to Flash Player and wonder if there is are step by
step instructions someplace to help me go from a .flv file to
embedding the video in a Flash Player and then getting it to play
in a page created in Dreamweaver. I've tried everything and all I
get when uploading the files to the server is a big blank white
    space.
    I have a page at
    www.goworldpublishing.com/promoteyourhotelmodify.htm if that is
helpful. The problem area is the big white space on the upper right
    of the screen.
    Thanks.

I found some good tutorials that help
    1. This shows you how to insert a flv into a player and place
it in your dreamweaver page - its actually very easy using this
method and flv files don't have to be converted to swf:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flv_tutorial_03.html
    2. This gives good background info.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_guide_03.html
    3. I'm definitely no expert on the video side but perhaps the
sound issue you are having has something to do with how the file
    was encoded?
    Hope this helps.
