Do I dare use new Blackberry for Mac for 3-way sync?

I have a Blackberry 8310 running v. 4.5.0.11. I used PocketMac to sync with my personal MacBook (Leopard 10.5.7) and Microsoft Entourage, with lots of problems around duplicate records. I have not tried the new Blackberry for Mac.
Last month I took a new job and have to use the Enterprise services for wireless, continuous sync of my blackberry to the company's server. It works great. But I have been keeping my contacts and calendar on my Mac, not only on the phone and the enterprise server. I have not synced the Mac and the berry for weeks waiting for this new software. I have many contacts and calendar events on my Mac that I don't want to manually transfer to corp. email.
1. Will a sync between my berry and my Mac with the new Blackberry software work without messing up my Entourage?
2. What problems can I expect if I try?
3. Any advice to avoid problems; e.g., turn off connections when syncing?

I found a snippet of code on the net which was quite instructive . 5 string creation/assignments and 5 equality tests :
String s1 = "abc";
String s2 = s1;
String s5 = "abc";
String s3 = new String("abc");
String s4 = new String("abc");
System.out.println("== comparison :" + (s1 == s5));
System.out.println("== comparison : " + (s1 == s2));
System.out.println("Using equals method : " + s1.equals(s2));
System.out.println("== comparison : " + s3 == s4);
System.out.println("Using equals method : " + s3.equals(s4));
now, in Jdev11g if you create a String using "new" it grumbles about it : "superfluous string constructor should be removed"
However, it turns out that String s1 = "zzz" and String s1 = new String("zzz") are very different things in java.
Run the code above to see what I mean. There are five comparison tests. You would expect them all to be "true" but
the fourth comparison : System.out.println("== comparison : " + s3 == s4); returns FALSE.
My understanding is that this is due to the optimization of "immutibility of strings" When you say :
String s1 = "zzz" and String s2 = "zzz" then the characters "zzz" exist only once in the heap and both s1 and s2, secretly, reference the same storage, at least until the value is changed.
However using the 'new' keyword forces the JVM to create two separate strings, hence the false result for test #4.
It's nit-picking I know, but I personally found the above code snippet quite instructive, which shows the difference between the statements.

good point about the difference in how specifc JVM's (my assumption) can treat this differently.
You can turn off this behaviour via Preferences->Audit->Profiles->Edit then under Rules->API->String Constructor

This problem can be due to an Untrusted certificate. So you need just full permissions to certificates.

Want to use new laptop for iPhone 5, but will iPhone 4 backup on old pc transfer ok?

I'm about to set up my new iPhone 5, but I want to set it up on a new pc, not the one I previously used for my iPhone 4. I've done a backup of my iPhone 4 with the old pc, but want to plug the new one into my new laptop. Will everything still transfer? Is there anything else I need to do/think about before registering it?

You can restore the iPhone from backup on the older computer, then transfer content to the new computer.
You can also just move the backup to the new computer and move the iTunes library to the new computer. Then you're new computer will have all the info that was on the older computer.

Using new namespace for existing abap objects

Hi,
We have just reserved a namespace and want to move existing code (tabels, data-elements, ...) to this namespace. The issue we notice is that the namespace is added to the name of the abap-object, so that every code-reference to that object must be changed. This leads to a lot of work. Can this somehow be avoided?

This can't be avoided, that's the very core of the names. Different question is: can this be automated. Not completely.
Fastest way (and it's really not so terrible as it seems):
- copy the objects to new names
- make where-used list to all objects (e.g. table name)
- search and replace in each object (e.g. include)
- generate new version
- delete old object
- check all objects for missed references
Still will take several days for one person. For very large developments you can think about a program to do the mentioned list - but this will take a lot of time to program, too.

Ipod reset to old setting with old icloud ID. How do I reset it to use new login for icloud and then restore from icloud backup

My upgrade to iOS 8 failed and I had to restore my iPad from an old backup (since restoring from cloud wasn't given as an option).
Now the iPad has my old iCloud account configured instead of the one I've been using for the past year or so. How do I:
1. Get the iPad to use the correct iCloud account?
2. Restore the iPad from an iCloud backup?
Everytime I try to log out of iCloud it prompts me for the password on the old account to allow me to turn off "Find my iPad". I don't think that account even exists anymore. I tried to reset the password on the old account (using an old email address), but the password email never arrives.

Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

Using new PC for apps store

Trying to purchase something on Apps Store on a new Macbook and it allows me to sign in then says since this is the first time purchasing with this PC, to answer security questions that I don't remember completing. I answer them correctly and it says their wrong. So I'm stuck not able to purchase apps. I have an iPad, iTouch, and iPhone, no problems with those.. just the macbook.

Do all the useful notes in your Mac's address book sync over to the Iphone?

Hi, I'm thinking of taking the plunge to buy Iphone mainly for the usefulness of address book synching but do all the notes entered on my Mac transfer over to the Iphone and vice-versa?
This is a crucial aspect for me. I know for instance that if you email a contact or group of contacts to another Mac user any notes present on the original contact are dumped (i.e not included) during the transfer - a horrendous oversight on Apple's part in my opinion and I'm worried that this might apply to Iphone connectivity too...

My adress book notes came across from my Mac, though they're not extensive. Just read somewhere that smart groups don't transfer over, although ordinary groups do (mine did).

A question from a new Blackberry user

I will be going for the 9360, but unfortunatly, my operator doesn't seem to support the Blackberry phones. There are a few others that do that here, but then you need to subscribe to the Blackberry service. Does anyone know if I will be able to set up my Blackberry phone so that I can use it without the subscription or will I need to have that? What will not work if I don't have it?

NEW FIELDS FOR PRICE DETERMINATION in MM

Hi all experts,
we have added new field in customizing so that in the purchase order in MM we can use new fields for price determination.
However we do not finde the exit or program were we can set a value for these fields.
for instance, we want to differenciate countries belonging to the EU and not. We create a yes/no field and get its value from table T005 where each country has this info. Everything seems to be ok, but our field is not populated into KOM* tables and therefore we don't go through the condition price...

Why not use "new" operator with strings

why we not use new when declaring a String .because in java String are treated as objects. we use new operator for creating an object in java .
and same problem wiht array when we declare array as well as initialize .here we are alse not using new for array

Strings aren't just treated as objects, Strings are Objects.
As for why not using new for Strings, you can, if you want.:
String str = "this is a string";
and
String str = new String("this is a string");
do the same thing (nitty-gritty low level details about literals aside). Use whatever you like, but isn't it simpler not to type new String(...) since you still need to type the actual string?
As for arrays, you can use new:
int[] ints = new int[10];
or
int[] ints = { 0, 1, 2, 3, ..., 9 };
But the difference here is you are creating an empty array in the first one, the second creates and fills the array with the specified values. But which to you often depends on what you are doing.
