You're talking about the logic board. The two most likely things to get toasted, with water damage, are the battery(it shorts out), & the logic board. The worst water damage would be salt water. I'm afraid your logic board is toast.

Getting movies (not just video) from iPhone 3GS to Mac

I did the following in order (question at end)
captured video using iPhone 3GS
synced video from iPhone to iPhoto on Mac
imported iPhoto video to iMovie
created movie in iMovie
used "Share" feature in iMovie to share the movie in iTunes (so I could play on Apple TV)
synced movie back to iPhone
deleted movie from Mac (where iTunes was accessing it)
Now, the movie content only resides on my iPhone...can I get it back from the iPhone onto my Mac (so I can eventually get it back into iTunes)?

Thanks to Grognard for suggesting this:
Step one: turn off and on your iPhone.
Step Two : launch iTunes and iPhoto
Step three : connect the iPhone to the computer
Then importation will be possible.
Clearly this still seems to be a glitch -- these kinds of work-arounds are a huge pain. Hope an update will solve the problem.

Can't get past the activation screen for iphone 3Gs

I am trying to activate the iphone 3Gs after switching from blackberry. When I turn the phone on, I get to the "welcome"screen, I choose my country and then given the option to activate through WiFi or iTunes. When I activate through WiFi, I get a message saying that the activation server is unavailable and to try again in a few minutes ( tried it again and was unsuccessful). I then attempt to activate through iTunes and receive a message saying that there is no SIM card in the phone (when there is). I am stuck here with a phone that is not working! I do not know what to do. I took it into Apple for them to check it out and they can't find the problem. Maybe someone has come across this issue and had it resolved? Please share!

You are asking in a thread that is 18 months old. Whatever.
Here are possible causes for that message:
1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
2. Your phone is jailbroken.
3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.
Windows: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Mac: /etc/hosts

I tried to update Iphone 3gs to ios 5 with Itunes. first try,It did sync,posted my name under devices(iphone). Tried to restore,keep recieving error message 14. I ran the diagnostic and it kept saying under Port, it does'nt not find Iphone. Tried EVERYTHING! From uninstalling, youtube, google, DFU and downloading some of the so called help links and files. It also keep saying my phone is in restored mode and on the phone it shows a usb plug pointing to itunes and a cd. Apple does not support downgrading, so that is probably why you are getting error 3194. As you have to hack the phone to downgrade all bets are off now. As some of the help links and files direct you to jailbreak your phone if you followed any of those you now have bigger problems.

Sorry, the ~ symbol indicates your home directory. A shortcut to get there is to open a Finder Window - Go Menu - select Go to Folder.... and copy and paste ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Image_Capture.plist into the search field. Finder will take you right to the file then drag the file to your desktop.
