Do I give my 7 year old his own apple id for a new ipad mini or use mine

I just bought an ipad mini for my 7 year old. we have other ipad, computers, iphones etc under my apple Id. I don't want my son to access some of my information, however many of the games and apps I've purchased are for him on my devices so I wouldn't have to re purchase them if I use my id.
I guess I'm wondering how do I set his mini up and make it kid friendly? Is there an option to create a kids apple Id as it asks for what year you are born and he is too young

Its really up to you how you manage your kids content.  Think about what you want him to access. Do you want  him to access Messages? iCloud? Facetime? or only the iTunes and App Stores?
You can use your Apple ID for just the stores so he can access the purchased Apps for free but avoid setting up an Id for the other services if you don't want to.   In the end its up to you whether you want to create an ID for him at this point.  You certainly don't need to.
You can also use restrictions to setup some parental controls.
iOS: Understanding Restrictions (parental controls)

As to the age restrictions to create an apple id, you need to enter a valid date above 13 years of age to create one, but no one is stopping you from lying about his age. As long as you are sure about what you are doing and are prepared to handle the Apple Id access it should not matter what age you enter.

Yes, but if you are asking if he can add your existing iTunes music to his existing Apple ID then the answer is no. This may explain your options:

  • My husband has been using my daughters apple if to log in to his ipad.  can i set him up with his own apple id for this ipad?  if so, how?

my husband got an ipad.  he has been using my daughters apple id to log in to his ipad.  she has an ipod touch.  how do i make him his own apple id?

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.
If y do not want to use the common ID then:
    Note
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • My 9 year old daughter needs her own apple id for her new iphone

Apple says she is too young for her own apple id, but how else am I supposed to keep her imessages separated from mine?

On both the devices go to Settings > Messages > Recieved At > Check only the number for that device
Apple requires age 13 to have an Apple ID. Nothing is stopping you from creating a second Apple ID for yourself
    Hope that helps

  • My husband shares my Apple ID  but now I see that this causes problems so how can I take him off my account so he can get his own  Apple ID ?

My husband shares my Apple ID but now I see that this causes problems.   So how can he get his own Apple ID for his device?

I agree that having separate Apple IDs is a good idea. It helps keep things from getting confused between two user who might have different needs and wants on their devices.
You husband should save and backup to a computer all the files, photos and music that he wants to keep. He should also save any files created with the apps on his device. Once that is done he can use the Settings app to erase his device.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings
He can then set up his device as new and create an Apple ID for himself. Once the device is up and running he can purchase and/or download the apps he wants and sync with a computer to restore the photos, files, etc.
To make syncing easier, with two Apple IDs, I suggest that you each use a different computer to sync with OR you have separate accounts on one computer. This way there will be two separate iTunes libraries and syncing with each will be straightforward.

  • How do i give my husband his own Apple ID.

My husband had an iphone 2 years ago but didn't have a private email address...so we used mine. I therefore got and Apple ID. I have no got an iphone and as soon as I put my email and password in everything downloaded from his phone onto mine. His phone went mad with emails saying another device had been registered ..ws this correct etc.. We need to seperate his account from mine. How do we give him his own Apple ID without losing anything on his phone??

    1. Create a new user account on your computer unless he has his own computer: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
    2. Have him open iTunes in his separate user account. Click on the Login link.
    3. Click on the Create New button to start the process.
He will need to set up a separate email account for his use. That email address will be the one to use for his Apple ID.

  • How do I set up an Apple ID for my 8 year olds new iPad Mini?

My 8 year old daughter got a brand new iPad Mini for Christmas and I'm trying to set it up for her to use. I keep getting a notification saying that I nee to create a Family Sharing Group from another device that has iOS 8 or later... my device is iOS 7 and am not getting an option in my iCloud setting to create a Family Sharing Group. I'm not sure what I can do since I can't make an apple ID for my daughter on her iPad mini getting started and setting it up for use...

As stated in the message your received (as you mentioned above), you need to use iOS 8 to setup/use Family Sharing. If you are using iOS 7, you cannot setup/use Family Sharing. To setup/use Family Sharing, you must update your devices to iOS 8.

  • My iMac is less than one year old.  Without warning, the screen suddenly goes black.  It used to happen occasionally, but is now happening all the time without warning.  What is Apple doing to correct the problem?

My iMac is less than one year old. Without warning, the screen suddenly goes black.  It used to happen ocasionally, but now it happens all the time.  Numerous people have posted about this issue. Why hasn't Apple solved the issue.  For what I paid my computer, I expected more from the product than I have gotten.  I was a PC person for years and most of my associates told me that I needed to get a mac...I am starting to regret having taken their advice.

    Sorry you're having this problem.
A few years ago we had a similar issue on one of our machines, it was an early MacBook. Ended up being a cracked circuit connection on the motherboard. Changes in temperature caused the crack to expand and contract resulting in a shut-down followed by an automatic reboot. Sometimes over-and-over. I understood from AppleCare at the time that those symptoms could have also been any number of things including a intermittent issue with a powersupply.
If you take it back to the Apple Store at some point, I would ask them to have it run some CPU intensive tasks that closely resemble what you are doing when the screen goes black. It took us several try's to find the problem. Calling AppleCare each time to discuss it and troubleshoot before making the trips to the Apple Store really moved things along. In fact, it wasn't until the Apple Store had cracked the case from the inside that things kicked into a higher gear and AppleCare phone support sent out a pre-paid FedX package to send it to a refurbishing facility. Never a problem since and I know the people who have the machine today.
PS Can identify with the trip to the Apple Store, our closest one is in Knoxville, 2hrs from us.

  • HT204053 my husband has his own apple ID account on his pc that is old and slow can he join my mac with his own ID

my husband has a pc which is old and slow he has his i tunes with his own apple ID account on it. We have just purchased a MAC which me and my children use for our i tunes and own account. Can my husband transfere his Itunes and own account to my mac

You could combine the content in one library on the Mac, but it could lead to a few problems, if you would take only one Apple ID (e.g. for App updates you would persistent have to sign/out, ...). So I would recommend to use different librarys unless you take one of your IDs for all future purchases. In this case it would make sense to combine everything in one library.

FIND MY IPHONE ACTIVATION LOCK Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support
when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents  a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to  @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get  a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt

The Activation server for AA 7 was taken down. I am not sure this link is complete, but it might give you some idea. However, on WIn7 and newer, AA7 has problems and will only work with some workarounds, and then kind of clunky.
