Do I have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows?

I'm still trying to download the proper BIOS for the update that the ThinkVantage recommended.  Now it's asking if my Windows on the T400 is 32 bit or 64 bit.  How can I decide?  The "System Properties" dialog box says I have "Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 3"

Then you have 32bit system. If there is 64bit, its explicitly written in name of OS. Or try msinfo32 from command line, it open information window about OS and there are all important info.

i have 64 bit windows 7- and itunes version 10.6.1.7. yet i cannot connect to the itunes store.  do i need to download something additional?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

A simple thing like leaving the project idle for about 15 minutes, you come back and find that it has frozen. Also if you drag out a clip on the timeline you will find that the whole application freezes. Any possible solutions would be much appreciated.

  • How can I create an installer for my project that can work on 32-bit Windows if I have 64-bit Windows Vista?

    Hi,
I made a LabVIEW project that works perfectly and made an installer for it. I tested the installer on my own computer and everything worked well. The goal for my installer was to put it on multiple computers. So I tried to do this on another computer that has Vista 32-bit and it told me that the installer can only run on 64-bit computers. I tried to choose to install run-time 32bit and it did not change anything, there was still a message to tell me that this installer only can be ran on 64-bit computers. How can I make an installer that works on 32-bit computers?
    Thank you.

The code will have to recompile, but yes it should work.  I recommend making a backup before proceeding just in case.

  • I have 64 bit Windows 7, 64 bit IE 10, yet flash keeps installing 32 bit version WHY???

I had the Adobe flash square from Adobe Labs, 64 bit, pointed not only my 64 bit browser to use it, I pointed my 32 bit browsers to use it as well. Flash rarely crashed. Now every time I attempt to update flash from my 64 bit browser, flash wants to install a 32 bit version even though it says it's supposed to be the 64 bit version for IE 64 bit browse. Can you fix this, I'm sick & tired of dealing with crash after crash. Just give me the correct version I WANT THE 64 BIT VERSION.

The installer will automatically install both 32-bit and 64-bit players on 64-bit systems.  There are no longer separate installers.

  • FireFox 5.0 maximizes (although it still is a single rectangle button in the upper left corner) shortly after I start it. I resize and go on. I have 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate

this started as soon as I upgraded to 5.0. at first I thought I clicked the icon but I don't have to touch anything. as soon as Firefox starts up completely, it goes to full screen. the window does not have the double rectangle maximized button, just the single rectangle resizable window buttoin

To get it you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

  • How can I check to see whether I have 32-bit or 64-bit Photoshop CC (2014) installed?

After many errors with updates to the new 2014 version of Adobe applications, I finally got things updated.  After all the dust has settled, I can't tell whether the 64 or 32 bit applications actually installed in the updates, meaning when I go into Photoshop and click "About Photoshop", I don't see "64-bit" anywhere on the information screen.  I do have 64-bit Windows 8, and the previous versions of Adobe applications were 64-bit, where available.  But after the update, in the Cloud application, there is no (64-bit) after the 2014 versions.  When I check Windows Explorer, the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders appear to be a mess.
Does this appear to be a normal directory list for someone with 64-bit Windows 8?
    Thanks for the information.

  • How to charge your Palm Centro via 64-bit Windows, with a USB cable

Here is a way to recharge your Palm Centro on your 64-bit Windows computer, through a USB cable.  But first, a few brief explanatory notes...
Note 1:  I have successfully used this method to charge my Palm Centro from my 64-bit Windows 7 computer.  This method probably works for other Palm devices and other 64-bit Windows versions (XP and Vist)...  but I haven't tested this on any other configurations.  Others may feel free to post their successes or failures with their setups.
Note 2:  This method will NOT allow you to HotSync your Palm to the computer via USB.  All it does is let you charge your Palm via USB.  If you need to HotSync your Palm, and you have 64-bit Windows, you have to use Bluetooth or some other method.  To learn how to use Bluetooth to sync, search for "bluetooth sync 64-bit" or something like that on this forum.
Note 3:  If you're wondering why someone would need to use this method - why not just plug the phone into a wall outlet, right? - it's because the Centro's charging jack can get messed up.  Mine has not worked properly for the last several months
Note 4:  I will not be posting any follow-ups to this message.  This is my first (and only) post here...  I'm posting here because I am very grateful to this forum: It is here that I learned how (and why) to sync my Centro to my computer via Bluetooth, because Palm doesn't support 64-bit Windows. This is my way of saying "thank you"!  I'm not trying to be harsh by not following up...  it's just that I won't be checking this thread, and I don't want anyone to have bad feelings if they ask questions and I don't respond.  I'll be as thorough as I can in this one posting, though.
Note 5:  I cannot claim credit for actually discovering this solution.  I found it after HOURS of looking online... it was on some obscure website.  Unfortunately, I can't remember where I found the original solution, so I can't credit the discoverer here.  However, I have done my best to provide much more detailed instructions here.
Note 6:  Lastly, Palm should support 64-bit Windows.  Period.  Some of you may say, "It's not Palm's fault - the company that makes the Palm OS is Access, and it's Access's fault for not supporting 64-bit Windows."  Well, this may be true, but Access has stated that Palm has not requested a 64-bit driver.  (In fact, you can call Access and ask them directly.)  And if Palm doesn't ask (and pay) for it, Access sure isn't going to create one on its own.  I used to LOVE Palm devices...  I've used Palms for 12 years now, and for most of that time, I heartily recommended Palms to all my friends.  But, between this problem and the other problems I've had with my current Centro and my previous Treo, I'm done with Palm.  No more for me.
OK, here's how to charge your Palm (finally!)
    1)  If you haven't done so already, install the latest version of Palm Desktop / HotSync on your computer.  You can get this at palm.com, under the "support" section.  (Actually, I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I already had done this.)
    2)  As you're installing the software on your computer, toward the end of the process, do not actually sync your Palm to your computer.  Just cancel or whatever you have to do to avoid that step.  (Remember, the whole point here is that Palm does not have a driver compatible with 64-bit Windows, so you won't be able to sync via USB.)
    3)  If you don't already have it, get the PocketTunes application (also known as "pTunes") on your Palm device.  If you have to install the software, you may need to do so wirelessly or via a 32-bit Windows computer (because, again, Palm doesn't support 64-bit Windows).
    4)  Connect the Palm USB cable to your computer.  If you are using a desktop, plug into the USB ports on the BACK of your computer.  These ports are directly powered, whereas the ports on the front of your desktop may not be.  You'll want as much juice as possible to charge your Palm.
    5)  Connect the Palm USB cable to your Palm.
    6)  Turn on the Palm device, and open the PocketTunes application on your Palm.
    7)  PocketTunes will try to connect to Windows Media Player (on your desktop).  Tell your desktop to connect to Windows Media Player.  (You can save time by telling your desktop to do this automatically.)  When PocketTunes connects with Windows Media Player, you'll have a power connection via USB.
    8)  PocketTunes will eventually show that it is "Idle" on the Palm.
    9)  To confirm whether the Palm is charging, look for the charging light (on the Centro, it's on the upper left) to turn solid red.  You can also hit the home button on the Palm to see the battery / charging status.  To get the charging working, you may have to exit PocketTunes and come back into it a few times before the charging light comes on.  I have no idea why you have to do this; I just know what I wind up doing sometimes.  You don't have to unplug and replug the phone from the USB cable, or turn the phone off and on.  Just leave PocketTunes and come back to PocketTunes.
    10)  If you exit the PocketTunes application on the Palm, the Palm will still charge - but you'll get the constant and annoying "no driver" noise from Windows.  To avoid that sound, just keep the Palm on PocketTunes while you have the Palm plugged into the USB cable.
    11)  You can close Windows Media Player on the desktop once you have the Palm charging.
    12)  Once you have this set up properly, you can speed up the process by setting the HotSync cable button to PocketTunes - after all, that button no longer needs to be set up to HotSync via USB cable.
When you have everything set up, here's what you would be doing on a regular basis:
-- Plug USB cable (which is already plugged into your computer) into Palm
-- Hit HotSync button on cable --> This starts PocketTunes --> PocketTunes automatically opens Windows Media Player on the computer
-- See if charging light turns solid red --> If not, exit PocketTunes, then hit HotSync button on cable to start PocketTunes again
-- Repeat until charging light turns solid red (success!)
-- Once the Palm is charging, close Windows Media Player on desktop
Best of luck to all who need this!

Why do you want to create your own driver instead of what comes with the device? If you go that route, you need all of the low level USB RAW protocol from the vendor. Did you get that? Yoe are wasting your time if you don't have that. Is the driver from the vendor documented? If it's a USB connection, how does that connection show up in windows device manager?

  • Can't Install Boot Camp 3.0 on 64-bit Windows 7 system

I have 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate running on HD#2 on a Mac Pro 2,1 system (2006). I've installed the Boot Camp 2.0 drivers after I installed Windows, I forget why I needed them, maybe for an old Apple keyboard.
Anyway, I can't install Boot Camp 3.0 from the Snow Leopard DVD - the installation runs to completion, but generates various error messages, one of which says that Boot Camp 3.0 64-bit can't be installed on this system.
I really need 3.1 now because my Magic Mouse won't work, and I can't sync Mobile Me.
Is there a fix or a workaround to upgrade Boot Camp on this system? Should I use Windows Uninstall to get rid of Boot Camp 2.0 first?
If it matters, Windows 7 is the upgrade version from Vista Ultimate.

    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Click on "Downloads", (underneath the big hard drive icon), scroll down a bit and there is a link for "Boot Camp:Upgrading to Windows 7" and another link for Version 3.1 which you need for 64 bit to work right after 10.6.4(?). I would just try downloading the Boot Camp 64bit 3.1 file and try that first if you already have Window's 64 bit installed.
Don't forget you need a WIRED keyboard AND mouse if you need to reinstall Window's.
Here's another link that is all over the place on which machines and which Windows works and what doesn't...

  • Essbase Excel Addin on 64 Bit Windows 7 and 64 bit Office 2010

    Hi Everyone,
I have installed 11.1.2.2 on server with Essbase and Shared Services.
Now, on the client I have 64 bit Windows 7 and 64 bit office 2010.
I tried installing Excel Addin client only (without Essbase client) and restarted machine after install.
After install Addin didnt come up automatically and i tried to manually set the add-in, I'm getting an error "This is not a valid add-in"
Is it because i am using 64 bit of office and have to go back to 32 bit.
Isnt 64 bit supported for latest 11.1.2.2 Essbase ?
Any ideas or experience in this regard will be helpful to me as our company is going for Windows 7 and Office 2010 across the business users and if 64 bit Office is not supported or has issues i would have to suggest them to go with 32 bit Office 2010.

  • How to workaround the lack of 64 bit windows support of HWS

I have very long patterns in text format for a traditional semiconductor digital tester that I need to use in a NI HSDIO card. The HSDIO driver can only import files of HWS type. The Digital Waveform Editor only supports HWS to save patterns with more than two states. So if I want to convert my pattern to a binary type that supports more data states than 1 and 0, and load it using HSDIO, I have to use HWS. What am I supposed to do if I have 64 bit windows? I cannot mess with the PC I am using, and 64 bit is pretty standard nowadays.

    Hi J_osh_o,
I saw that you were already being helped by one of our Applications Engineers on another post. Please keep to one post per question.

In case you are referencing this Knowledge Base article for this information. Please noet that the Title is incorrect, and that there should not be a problem using HWS files in Windows 64-bit but actually only LabVIEW 64-bit. We will be changing this title soon.

  • Auto-update not working on 64-bit Windows Firefox Aurora

I realize the correct directory to download Aurora builds would be http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora-l10n/, but it does not have 64-bit Windows build which is unfortunately the only way to solve severe stuttering problems in Flash.
Previously I had used nightly builds, while they did work fine most of the time sometimes there issues that forced me back to standard builds, and stuttering Flash.
So instead I've been trying to use 64-bit Aurora I downloaded from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-aurora/. It's been a smooth experience otherwise but auto-update doesn't work. First it attempts to install small patch, which fails. Then it tries to install full update, which again fails.
Here's a screenshot of the full update failure message: http://i.imgur.com/8HmPjTE.jpg

Thanks for the feedback. The topic linked above suggests that the problem with auto-update lies with CA certificate. I've submitted feedback to Moziilla and linked here just in case.
If the cause of failing auto-update is the CA certificate, hopefully Mozilla is willing to correct the problem.
Stuttering Flash in 32-bit Firefox is simply unbearable and I have to either use 64-bit Nightly or Aurora builds, or go Chrome.

  • Can I download the x64 development kit with 64 bit Windows Vista?

I have 64 bit Windows, would the latest JDK x64 kit suit me best, or does the 64 mean something else?

Nope, you got it right. JDK x64 is for 64-bit programming.
64-bit OS can run on a 32-bit CPU, and 32-bit OS can run on a 64-bit CPU.

  • I  have a problem with the synchronisation of my iPhone and iPad with Outlook 2007 on my 64-bit Windows 7  PC. For several years, I have had no problems with the synchronisation by cord connection and iTunes between these programmes. However, a few months

I  have a problem with the synchronisation of my iPhone and iPad with Outlook 2007 on my 64-bit Windows 7  PC. For several years,
I have had no problems with the synchronisation by cord connection and iTunes between these programmes. However, a few months ago I decided to use Mobile Me. However, there were problems with duplication of calendars and then “rogue events” – which could not be deleted – even if deleted on Outlook and on the iPhone (or both at the same time) – they would just reappear after the next synchronisation.  All other synchronisation areas (eg Contacts, Notes etc) work fine.
I have looked for help through the Apple Support Community and tried many things.  I have repaired my Outlook. I have repaired my .pst file in Windows. I have re-installed the latest version of iTunes on my PC. I have re-installed the firmware on my iPhone. I have tried many permutations on my iPhone. I have closed down all Mobile Me functions on the iPhone. I have spent upwards of 24 hours trying to solve this problem.
What am I left with? Outlook works seamlessly on my PC. My iPhone calendar now has no events from  my calendar, but does not synchronise through iTunes. Nor does it send events initiated on the iPhone to the Outlook. I am at the point of abandoning iPhones and iPads altogether.  I need to have a properly synchronising calendar on my phone.  Do you have any suggestions?

In the control panel goto the "Lenovo - Power Manager" and click the battery tab, there is a maintenance button in there that will let you change the charging profile for your battery.   (from memory, so exact wording may be off)
The lower the numbers you use there, the longer the battery *should* last.    These batteries degrade faster at higher charge levels, however storing them at too low of levels is also not good for them... I've read that 40% is optimal, but just not realistic if you use your computer.
