I have a G5 Dual 2 gig when I am using idvd to mux my DVDs I find I cannot us the import button in iMovie I want to know if this is natural. I have a terabyte 800 drive attached to my 800 firewire port and I am using a Canopus ADVC 100 which is my capture analogue to DV capture box which is a firewire 400 device which is attached to the 400 firewire input on the back of the G5. I am using all 3 of my USB ports on the back of the G5. I have a Belkin USB 5 way PCI card which has 5 lacie drives attached to it. I have a combie PCI card which houses 3 USB slots and 2 Firewire 400 slots of which I am using a Dongle USB Key in one of the 3USB slots, and a Lacie Dual layer external firewire 400 in one of the two Fire wire ports on this combie card the rest of the slots are left free. All the slots on the front of my G5 are left vacant.
The Question
Can anyone let me know whether the problem is that I have too many devices attached and that it is eating up my Bandwidth. Or is it a safety feature where the G5 shuts off any attempt to use my canopus to import Footage into iMovie.

Thank you this may solve this problem now I need to look at my screen redraw in Bias peak 5 when I am saving a file or bouncing down effects I loose some of my buttons on the GUI. Once finished I have to run the mouse over the GUI to get them back.

Some smaale countries with one ISP/telephone Company block the 5060 port that iChat oand VoIP applications use to orce people to use the telephone for international calls.
Is that the USB (330) Alcatel modem ?
What ports do you have open in it ?
You can quite possiblly make outgoing calls but not accept incoming ones if the ports requiered are not open.

Hello: following computer malfunction,I purchased a new computer and downloaded itunes. when I try to sync my purchased data on my ipad I am asked to delete data from previous library. The first library has all of my stored data. How do I transfer this data to my new itunes library? . I cannot use the cloud as my data plan has a limited band width cap ( I live in rural Alberta , northern).My library may be on my tera drive, but then how do i delete this library once I transfer the files, that is if i am able to locate them ? this is a question for all itunes lovers, I love it when i know how to use it, so far not computer literate to loving it! thanks so very much for considering this problem.

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to new computer.

Auto adjustment of page orientation causes printing issues with documents that have a page width greater than its page height.

Since an upgrade from Word 2003 to Word 2010, we are experiencing printing issues with certain
documents that have a page width greater than its page height.
In Word 2003, it was no problem to set the page width greater than the page height while setting the page orientation to "portrait".
In Word 2010, this seems impossible: despite leaving the page orientation to "portrait", if one changes the page width/height as stated,
Word 2010 automatically adjusts the orientation to "landscape". Resetting the orientation to "portrait" will flip the page's width/heigth settings.
This behaviour causes printing problems: the page prints out 90° rotated.
I do not believe this is a printer driver issue: I tried several different printer drivers, and all give the same (bad) result. Setting the printer driver's page orientation settings (before printing) makes no difference, as
Word 2010 seems to force the page orientation settings.
Inserting the documents 90° rotated is not an option, since it causes problems with the printing margins.
This is very annoying, since we have to print official documents of a municipality (driver's licences).
Is there a workaround for this issue?

I have an iPad 3 with LTE connectivity. I recently bought a micro sim from EE and they said that it has 4G capability but not the right band width as they operate between 800-1200. Within settings, mobile device, LTE is not an option. At the moment I only have 3G network.

CSS max-width problem

I have two div backgrounds on the left and right side of a content wapper div that will contain the web content. I have set the body max -width to 1330px. All three divs are contained in one div (bkgnd) - It has a light blue color. The problem is that when the monitor size is extended beyond 1330px the right background image drifts to the right beyond the max size. It doesn't matter if I use percentages or key words to fix the right image - it just keepd drifting as youextend the page. I thought that it would only extend to the max width or to the right side of the container div but it doesn't. What am I doing wrong or how can this be fixed?
If I have to make the divs smaller so that you can see the problem let me know.

An interesting alternative but most ofthe folks I'm setting this up for are still on IE8 and it doesn't work there at all. I am still trying to solve the problem and have reduced the problem to positioning and have changed the links for a better view of the problem and hopefully find a solution.

What I am trying for is to have images on the sides of the content div so when someone is on a large screen monitor there is something to the sides. In this example I am only working with one image though to view the problem. Normally I would not give a fixed width to the background div or divs but I did in this example to illustrate the problem I'm having. When you go to the html file you will need to reduce the width of your browser screen to probably half or less of the monitor width. You will need to keep minimizing the screen width to see the image come into view. I have a fixed width background div (.pain) with a hidious blue color to stand out and show that it has a limited expansion and an background image position on its right bottom - it is fixed. So why does it drift beyond its container div when you expand the width of the viewing area toward the monitor edge. If it is fixed to the bottom left of div class="pain" why does it drift away from it and how can that be corrected so that it does not go beyond the right edge of the container div?? This file is a much more simplified version of the previous one and more clearly shows the problem. Thanks for your patience...

APEX - What is the minimum network "band width" to use it?

I am planning to implement a large APEX application. An "expert" said that 128k "band width" is the minimum for 1 user. Is that true? I think that 64k (or even 32k) is enough. Would you be so kind as to share your expirience?
A comparison with FORMS 10g would be nice.

@Earl - Of course I talk about client-side connection speed. I have 2 Gb on the server side, but some clients are on 64k.Actually Earl has a very valid point....whilst the client download speed is important, the servers upload speed is actually more important (for example if the server can only upload at 1Mbps, then it won't matter if the client has a 2Mbps download speed, they're still going to be limited by the servers upload speed).
An Apex based website is no different to any other website from the clients perspective, therefore if they can cope with dial-up speeds then the fact the page is being generated in Apex isn't really that relevant. You can (as Scott pointed out), perform quite a few optimisations however, such as mod_gzip (an absolute favorite of mine). Also be very aware that images stored in the database will not be cached automatically, therefore the browser will download them every time. You can avoid this by writing your own download procedure for the images which makes use of expiry headers (search these forums for more information).
Also, I don't mean to sound sceptical, but do you really have a 2Gbps upload speed on your server? Remember...it's the upload speed that is usually more critical for a webserver rather than the download speed.

My lock button no longer works on my ipod touch and now i have all kinds of problems with it freezing and kicking me out of apps. Is there any way to get this fixed and were would i go to get it fixed?

I have an ipod touch 4th gen. and since the last update the lock button no longer works, this has caused it to have a lot of problems now like freezing all the time, kicking me out of almost all my apps, some times even when if locks on its own its not locked and buttons with be pushed in my pocket, and this causes the battiery to die fast. In GarageBand 10.0.2 you can no longer add all kinds of effects freely; this GarageBand '11 feature has been discontinued. Pick one of the predefined patches that already has the effects you want.
However, you can add effects from the predefined audio units.
You'll see the predefined effects on the track, when you open the Smart Controls. To add audio units, click the button and enlarge the the smart controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the Track Area upwards.

Hotmail advised me to delete all contacts and change the password for that account, which I did on my laptop running windows XP. The change was successful and I was able to send and receive emails with no problem. I then had to change the account password on my iPhone 4s, which I did and it too was successful but when I came to change the password on my iMac, running the latest version of Lion it would not recognise the new password. I have tried to remove the account details and re-install but every time I go to add new account my old details are in the box. This is very frustrating as I use my iMac for all my profects and I need to access my email. Please help.

I had already deleted all reference to the hotmail account in question from the keychain access app, I have also tried to delete and re-instal the account details from within mail. The icon in the side bar dissapears but when I go to Add Account, the old account details are in the new account box. I then input my new password but am told that the server does not recognise it. If I access hotmail via google on the iMac I can get into my account with no problems. I am thinking there must be some other form of security system within the mac software that is blocking the new password. This is driving me nuts. I have been trying to resolve this for the last two days. Thank you for your advise anyway.

When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them, However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

I can't move photos from iPhoto to my secondary hard drive or to a burn folder. I have never had a problem with this before. This is something new.   They will not drop into either folder. Nothing happens.

I checked my secondary harddrive and there is plenty of memory.
I emptied my burn folder but the photos still will not drop into it.
I created a new burn folder, no luck with this either.
230 photos is the maximum size of the events I am trying to move from iPhoto to save elsewhere.
I have shut down and restarted my computer.   No change. The photos still will not drop out of iPhoto.
My Mac Computer Storage shows that I have 62.2GB free out of 249.2GB (movies, photos and contacts taking up the most space)
My Lacie External Harddrive (2TB capacity) shows that I have 1.79TB available. It shows that 207,729,520,640 bytes (207.73 GB on disk) are used.
I have never had this problem before. It is usually very easy to move my photos from iPhoto.
I am not a computer expert (I work in surgery so don't have a need for lots of computer knowledge) so please explain in simple terms.

YES Terence! Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs. I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly. I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?! I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.

Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.
