Do I have a Call Minder Problem?

I have been going round in circles for weeks trying to find out why when anyone rings my phone they get a recorded "you can't leave a message at the moment" after seven rings and they are cut off before I can answer the phone.  I have not subscribed to Call Minder or BT Answer.  I have a BT "Inspire" Answerphone and I have disconnected it and just used my "steam-driven" ordinary phone, but this still happens (I verified it by ringing from my mobile) After spending hours on the BT site,  I don't seem to be able to find a way of stopping this.
Can anyone suggest an answer please?

This is an update to my still continuing problem.  After a week of very frustrating calls to BT's Indian Call Centre I am still no further forward.  We have unplugged all our telephones and the Indian BT people have called the line and they have encountered the message "your call cannot be taken at the moment" which cuts in after seven rings.  Three different people have done this and NONE of them believes the problem is generated from the BT Exchange. I suspect they think I am lying and haven't unplugged my phone or something.  Their answer has been to supply me with 1571 (which I do not want) and then cancel it.  The last call we had with someone at the call centre informed me that it was "normal" for the telephone to be remotely answered after 7 rings!?  What do people do if they have burglar alarms that need to be remotely interrogated and rely on pickup after 20 rings.  All I want is an engineer to check the line from the exchange, but they wont send one.  What is going on?  I cannot believe the contempt with which BT is treating its customers.
I have been a BT customer for 40 years, but I am at the end of my tether.

    There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not apply in your case.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
    2. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and in that case the unit must be serviced or replaced.
    3. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
    4. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
    5. Reset the System Management Controller.
    6. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad or mouse, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    7. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • Call Minder Notifications never arrive on Orange M...

    Call Minder notifications of waiting messages on the home phone fail to arrive on my Orange Mobile phone.  Orange claim it is a BT problem .  When I redirect my notifications to another mobile carrier the notifications arrive almost immediately.  Have others experienced this problem and found a solution other than moving mobile carrier.

    I have heard of this before and from memory it is due to Oranges network working in a different way that makes it incompatible with BT

  • N5800 bad phone - Have you had these problems?

    I'm a very happy owner of the world's worst mobile - Nokia 5800 - a smart phone with absolutely no reliability.
    So far it has helped me so much that, if I had my pockets full of pencils, I could eventually substitute them for the Nokia.
    Here are some simple everyday situations where the frustration of having a nokia kicks in really fast:
    Few days ago:
    Situation: Must go from A to B by train.
    Problem: Don't know when train comes.
    Solution: Nokia 5800 web browser, train time table site.
    Obstacle: "Memory Full. Please go and jump out of your window"
    Solution II: Not using Nokia.
    Two days ago:
    Situation: Three electricity counter readings must be submitted.
    Problem: No paper and no pen in pockets, only Nokia.
    Solution: Take a photo, simple as that.
    Obstacle: Tried to view the photo, but the media button randomly didn't work. Restarted and it works again. Now why would a media button randomly stop working??
    Obstacle II: Phone is restarting for ages.
    Solution II: Not using Nokia. Use -- paper!!, simple as that.
    Some time ago:
    Situation: Need to know what time is it.
    Problem: No watch on my hand, only Nokia in pocket.
    Solution: Unlock the keypad and see what time is it.
    Obstacle: On sliding the touch lock the screen goes black and the phone starts to vibrate and does not stop, making me embarrassed to the people standing by, because now I have vibrating **bleep** in my hands!!!!
    Solution II: Take out the battery, consider putting the phone in the trashbin, not using Nokia.
    Ask what time is to the old lady while Nokia restarts as the old lady crosses the WHOLE COUNTRY!!
    Not so long ago:
    Situation: Must make an important phone call.
    Problem: People don't make phone calls by brainwaves, now do they?
    Obstacle:Made the phonecall, said "Hello" and <zappp>, no more phonecall, the phone randomly restarts. Now it never had been so bold before this.!! I thought it has a phone call protection against rebooting during a phonecall, but NOOOOO, it of course doesn't wooork.
    Solution II:Not use Nokia.
    Yesterday:
    Situation: Insurance company must have sent me an invoice.
    Problem: Out of curiosity can't resist checking email while mobile.
    Solution: Open e-mail account, press the Connect button.
    Obstacle: The Connect button does not respond.
    Solution II: Press it harder, TWICE!!!!
    Obstacle: The screen fades out and the phone restarts.
    Solution III: Not use Nokia.
    Before a week:
    Situation: Must find an address I don't know, and reach it.
    Problem: Don't know where it is.
    Solution: Use Nokia Maps, oh excuse me, OVI maps.
    Obstacle: The search returns no results. Now, how can you not find this??? Blahblah street 143 - what's there not to find??
    Solution II: Not use Nokia, use Google Maps (definitely not on Nokia). Found it.!!
    Long time ago, and guess why long... :
    Situation: Let's enjoy some great music on this not-nokia-sony-ericsson Bluetooth headset by using the ultra-fabulous NokiaTrashPress XMusicPerience, it's supposed to be great, isn't it?
    Solution: Pair Headset to Nokia 5800, and turn on the music player.
    Success!! - it works ow wowowowowowowwowow i'm so freakin' excited.
    Obstacle: The second track made no sound.
    Solution II: Check what's wrong.
    Obstacle II: The media player has shut down by itself.
    Solution III: Not use Nokia!!!!!
    And I could write many more of these..
    Now, I have performed countless hard resets, trying to optimize every little bit. SOO little applications installed!!
    Symbian platform brings a great idea within itself. But it just doesn't work on Nokia phones..
    Didn't Nokia invent this Symbian? Then why doesn't it work???
    And this has been so far my experience with any Nokia Symbian phone regardless of the price, regardless of the market segment, regardless of the phase of the moon.
    And I am very suspicious that the same is going to be with Symbian^3 5 7 9  whatever...
    I just don't care anymore...
    My next cellphone budget goes to either Apple or Windows mobile, Android, HTC or anything else that's not Symbian and not even close to a NOKIA, because Nokia it's just a parody of a cell phone, no wonder why the USA and Japanese market doesn't love Nokia, not just because most of them are very ugly, just because they don't work....

    @Sentiment - not sure if your first language is English but that came out as insulting, but a valid question nonetheless.
    @mj - I never had all those problems and my 5800 works great, and quite perfectly as advertised. Could you tell us on what firmware your phone is (see by dialling *#0000#), and get back at us. Also, what is the phone's product code (seen at a sticker underneath the battery compartment.

    In other phones, you can hear the phone ringing and if it was connected to bluetooth, you could pick up the call from the bluetooth headset.
    Here with iphone, if its connected to bluetooth headset, it only rings through the headset, which means that if you dont have the headset in the ear all the time, you cannot know that you have an incoming call or message.
    Any ideas - solutions - comments please?

    I'm having the same problem. I had a plantronics 975 (which I lost, sadly). When connected, the ringer would always be routed through the bluetooth and the iPhone's external speaker. When in silent mode, the iPhone would only vibrate, but I could still hear the ringer in the bluetooth.
    I just bought a new Plantronics Voyager+. Now when it's connected, all sounds are routed to the earpiece - including the taps, etc. The iPhone's speaker doesn't ring at all, unless the bluetooth is disconnected or powered off. I'd really like to be able to hear both, like I was before. This is an iPhone 3G running iOS 4 (latest version, not sure what it is exactly). Haven't updated software/firmware in between bluetooths, just changed the earpiece.

    BDC program uploads data using Session method. The problem is when i
    process the session in foreground mode the data uploads successfully, but
    when i process it in background mode it gives the following errors in the
    log.
    'Control Framework: Fatal error - GUI cannot be reached'.
    'Runtime error RAISE_EXCEPTION has occurred'.
    When i debugged the program i found that this error is encountered when
    data is being input in 'Purchase Order text' editor of MM01 transaction.
    There is no problem with the BDC recording or the program as i could see.
    The only problem what i believe is the system is unable to call the text
    editor for inputting purchase order text data in background mode.

    I have a real strange problem trying to call custom RFC via WebDynPro.
    If I call for example the BAPI_HELPVALUES_GET passing table and structure...everything works.
    But if I call a simple custom RFC, it seems that the RFC gets emty tables...
    Can someone help with this issue....

    after the execution.
    Here is the description of this simple RFC :
    - <b>import</b> : 2 parameters ->
                    sname1 type char6 (pass by value checked)
                    sname2 type char10 (pass by value checked)
    - <b>export</b> : 1 parameter ->
                    ex_msg type text100 (pass by value checked)
    - <b>tables</b> : 1 parameter ->
                    mytable like mytype
    where mytype is a type that I created which is composed of 2 fields : fname type char6 and lname type char10.
    I repeat that any other standard BAPI, I success calling them.
    Do you see something wrong with that ?

    Hmmmm.
    At the very least there must be a "com.apple.ical.plist"...iCal would not function without it.
    Click on the Finder icon in the dock
    Click on Go > Home
    Double-click Library
    Double-click Preferences
    Look for a file called "com.apple.ical.plist" and remove it to the trash.

    In your first post you mention you have done a reset and a restore. Those are the last two processes in the user troubleshooting. If those do not work, then the last thing is to go to the Genius Bar. You say you went to Apple and they opened the phone and re-seated the connectors? That sounds unusual, because if there was a hardware issue,they would replace the hardware. You say you cannot get a replacement, is that because you are out of warranty? An out of warranty replacement is only $199 plus tax. It seems to me since you mention the fact you need to press hard to get the screen to react there is something going on with the hardware. If this problem has been going on for over a year, have you been reporting this to Apple. You say you cannot get a replacement and you are on the second phone, I wonder why they are denying you a replacement. Is there something you are not telling us??

    been having problems with my caller display it has been reported several times in last 3 weeks
    engineers came out and said it was my telephone at fault
    now tried 3 different brand new phones in the master socket and all just display "incoming call"
    tried a neighbours phone and it did work
    of the 3  new phones 2 were bt and one panasonic
    dialing  *234# says callers number will be displayed although this only started doing this yesterday usually it says service not available
    do you have any suggestions

    I've has smiliar issues setting up call blockers ( which need caller ID )
    Have gone through a number of these and different phones .
    After isolating the issues, finally system has stabilised ..
    One thing to make sure of is that BT have actually enabled it
    you have to called customer services ( don't make a new order )
    my BT Bill online still keeps saying:
    "extra calling features available" - incude BT Caller diaplay ( free for a year etc )
    its so frustrating, because I have this setup , yet the Bill looks like I need to order it
