Do I have a dead Zen Mic

I am unable to turn the unit on after charging the battery. I removed the battery and put it back in. Still does not turn on.
I followed the instructions to SID 4794 to reset the unit by removing the battery, turning on the unit and holding the power button in hte on position and then inserting the battery, continuing to hold the power on switch. Still nothing.
Are there any other steps I should follow before sending the unit to Creative Labs for warranty repair / replacement?
Thanks.
Terry Watts

When you plug it in, are you getting any indication that the device is powered or charging? You should be able to power on and run the device while it's plugged in and charging.
I'm not a Creative Specialist or anything, but I'll tell you how my Zen Micro works. The moment you connect the battery, it should power on, and give off its delightful blue glow. Even if the device was previously powered off before, as soon as you remove the battery that resets the Zen Micro's state so it will automatically power up and boot when a battery is connected. Most of the Zen Micros on the market right now come with a second battery. If yours did, I would try that one out, too. It could be a bad battery.
I know with the original Firmware that's shipping with the device (v.00.05), there are battery charging problems that cause the device to not charge correctly if you plug the items in in the wrong order. Upgrading to the latest firmware (v.0.03) resolves that issue. Of course if you can't power up your device, there's no way to upgrade the firmware.
Lastly (and this is overly obvious, but we all make simple mistakes now and then; I mean no offense), be sure that you're putting the battery in the right way with the three metal squares on top of the battery meeting the three metal prongs in the Zen Micro.
If all else fails, I'd imagine you should call Creative's Support Team on Monday and set up an RMA so you can return it for a replacement. This little device is great when it works! I hope you can get yours running.
Good luck, and happy holidays,
-Greg

Dead Zen 6GB
Hi all, hope you can help
In a nutshell, my Zen 6GB (DVP-FL000) has died. It doesn't turn on and the reset (or holding play button) option has no effect. The device is no longer being picked up by my PC. The only sign of life is a pulsing blue light on the side when I attach it to the computer but this fades after a time. I've tried a few things from the internet - leaving it charging for hours and then trying to turn on or hold down play/pause - but they have no effect. It remains stubbornly dead
Gi'ven that the player is long out of warranty I'll probably buy a new player rather than sending it in to be fixed. But it'd be greatly appreciated if anyone has any advice on how to avoid this and resurrect my Zen
Cheers

Hello Reekwind,
If you can get a hold of a wall charger for your ZEN, it is worth a try. Charge the player using the wall charger and while it is connected, press and hold the reset button. Hope this hel
ps.

• Where can I buy a new HEADPHONE JACK PCB for Zen Mic

Hi,
I have resoldered my headphone jack 3 times, but it has once again started malfunctioning. This time, I tried superglueing the jack to the board, but I think I have accidentilly short-circuited some of the board that the jack rests on with the glue.
Where can I just buy a brand new board with the jack on it's Or does anyone have a scrapped Zen Micro with the part lying around? If anyone can provide info about where I can get a new board, please let me know.
Thanks,
Scott

Yeah, whatever i<t is, you can fint it on Ebay.
Just be careful, some of the things on ebay are not always what they seem. Depeding on the price, you may be better off buying a new player.

Try to Reset it (hold down the home and sleep buttons, ignore the red off slider, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons).
If that does not work try Restoring it in iTunes.
Still no go? You will need to get it serviced.

• Whar are th earphones to buy for my zen mic

the ones u recieve dont stay in my ear to welll, wat are cheap and work well with the micro?

I used to use the sony range of in ear phones but find that they broke a long time ago after not much use. I now have for my Zen touch a pair of JVC big cans which give a decent sound but only cost about ?30. I am also in the process of saving up for a pair of Bose Triport cans which should give good bass but are very expensi've (around ?20).
My husband is a hi-fi nut. His religion is the constant search for the perfect hi-fi system matched by the perfect headphones to hear it out of. He will not touch/consider any in-ear phone thing. I have taken his advice and stuck to the JVCs but am going to save for the Bose ones. My advice is, try something a bit more than you would normally pay like Sennheiser or Bose (who are supposed to have a good reputation) and don't touch Phillips (2 year built in obsolence) or (approach with caution) Sony.

Hi,
i have ipad 4 the mic is not working for skype account can u tel me what i can do to get it working?

No Japanese carrier provides unlocking services. Therefore, your phone must have been hacked to unlock it. That hack was removed when you updated the software. You need to be a legitimately unlocked phone.
Best of luck.

• I have a Dead Spot in the Tone Curve

I have noticed when using a tablet while working in LR5 I have a dead spot in the upper part of the curve near the highlights portion. I thought it was just a result of my tablet being old and a cheaper model. I tested it with a new Intuos 5 Touch and had the same problem. I go to drag down or up on the upper part of the curve and it doesn't move or hangs up. It happens in all RGB channels also. Has anyone else had this problem or know why this happens? Thanks!

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have a dead thunder bug, right in the middle of my screen and it's dead!! It's so annoying - what can I do? How the **** did it get in there.

Uhm. It crawled in there? Strange.
If your laptop is still under warranty then bring it to an apple store. This way they will take it apart for you and you wont be voiding your warranty.
If it's not under warranty, you could bring/call a apple store and see if they will do it for free.

• I can't get napster to work with zen mic

I have a creative zen micro 5GB player and have updated the most recent firmware. I have Windows XP with service pack 2. I have Windows Media Player 0. I also have the subscription for Napster to Go. My problem is that when I connect my player to the computer and turn on napster, a little box comes up saying that I have connected a player (and it tells me the name of my player) that is NOT compatible with Napster to Go and that I will have to pay per track. But when you go the list of compatible players, mine is listed there as number 3. Also, when you go to this website under the zen micro, it indicates that you should be able to use the player with the service. Does anybody have any ideas? I've done a mess of things to try and get this to work. Thanks

not really 2 many ideas. have you remembered to download the application for play for sure as well as the firmware. i think its number 5 on the list. The 2 go together and wont work with out the other. You could also try accessing the clean up option and give that a try. Might update the player - sometimes they get a bit lost .
other that i cant think of anything - napster also has a discussion page sure some of there members must be/ or gone through similar?

• How can I backup everything I have on my Zen Micro

How can I backup everything I have on my Zen Micro (playlists and music, etc.)
Everytime you need to update the firmware it deletes everything in your player and you have to make everything you had in it all over again. I know I have to transfer everything again, but you have to make the playlists all over again and that's kinda hard...

Faith: To backup the files you can either sync or simply do a manual copy of the files to the PC. You might want to take a look in the Appendix of my?Nomad Primer which has some advice about backing up.
You can't backup playlists with the Creative software, but Notmad Explorer will back them up.

• I Need Help With My Zen Mic

I don't know what is wrong. I have a Creative Zen Micro 6 GB. I received it as a gift a couple Christmases back. One day I went to turn it on to listen to it and it said that it was on Recovery Mode. Then it had a list that looked something like this.
Creative Zen Micro v0.0.65
1. Clean Up
2. Format All
3. Reload Firmware
4. Reboot
That was about fi've or six months ago, and I still haven't been able to fix it. I went to reboot it, and it just went back to the same screen. I did the clean up, and I know I deleted all my songs and stuff because I hit the Format All. I went to Circuit City to see if they could help and they said to go to the website and download the firmware, but when I did, it said there were no firmware updates.
If anyway could help I would be really greatfull. I would hate to have to buy a stupid iPod.
-Ariel

It's either the v.0 firmware, or v2.0 firmware. Mine's running 2.0, and the recovery menu says v0.0.65. I don't know if the v.0 will show something different.
You should be running Windows XP, and preferably have Windows Media Player 0. People have reported problems with WMP. Some have reported problems when running Service Pack 2. To check your service packs, go to Start > Run > winver It will say "Windows XP 5.._________ (Service Pack __)"
If you're running v firmware (Requires Creative MediaCenter), ensure that MediaCenter (or whatever it's called) is installed properly.
If you're running v2 firmware, having that software installed can sometimes mess things up.
If you have access to a second computer, I'd strongly recommend that. Try this: Start up your Zen, keep the backlight ali've, and watch very carefully. Does it say "Firmware Problem" for a split second before cutting to the recovery menu? Turn it off and back on, but hold the back of the player against your ear, or someone with good hearing. Do you hear the microdri've spin up?
