Do I have a Trojan? Help please!

I made a mistake and deleted files for Avast Anti-Virus (and I also uninstalled it) because I thought I would be able to install another anti-virus program I saw at cnet. When I tried to install, I had problems and ended up trashing the file. Now I have nothing! (I like Avast ok, but I thought it slowed everything down.)
Then I tried to download a free software file from Lexmark (windows 7-64bit for printer 9500) I really need this driver, so I can use my printer. (The same software was used on a Gateway computer and worked fine.) Because of my slower connection, it took 9 hours to download, only to be told that it was corrupt. Its possible the connection was too slow. I think I may have a Trojan.
I am going to try and download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from cnet. If I am not successful, rather than hire Geek Squad to get rid of the Trojan, I would like to try and do this myself. Does anyone know the procedure?
Also- IE8 Freezes up and whites over, when I have several windows open. Sometimes IE disappears off the screen and then comes back. For awhile it stopped and then came back. Last few days, the connection has been slower.
Windows updates continues to download and I cannot get it to stop.
Any other thoughts? I'm open to suggestions. I don't want to spend anymore $ on Geek Squad or antivirus software, if I can get the same for free. If I don't have a Trojan, then great- I just have a lousy ISP. I need to know what it is....driving me nuts and taking all the fun out of my computing experience.

Hi MRG1,
The procedure depends on the type of malware on the system. If you are able to  download and run MBAM, please post your log. If you run System Sweeper and are still having problems, see if you are able to download DDS and save it to your desktop.
Disable any script blocking protection
Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS.txt will open.
Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
Save both reports to your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet. Some instructions for disabling AV are HERE.
Please include the contents of the following logs by copying and pasting the text of each into your next reply:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt
Those scans are for diagnostic purposes and will not clean the malware. Based on what shows up in those logs I will post additional advice.

    You may be able to find iDVD as part of the iLife 11 Retail Package. It is no longer sold by Apple, but you may find it on eBay or Amazon.

    Assuming you did this with a Fill Layer, double-click the thumbnail in the Layers panel to bring up the Gradient Fill dialog, see to it that the [ ] Align with layer checkbox is set, and (while the Gradient Fill dialog is still up) try dragging the gradient to where you want it on the main display.  Then [ OK ] out of the Gradient Fill dialog.

    This is not a problem with JSP but with core java:
    'you' is a reference to the object you created:
    String you=request.getParameter("you");"home" is a reference to the another String object.
    Because these references aren't the same you'll never receive 'true' when comparing:
    if ( you == "home" ){The '==' operator DOESN'T compares strings' values. It just compares references.
    Once again:
    String a = "a text";
    String b = a;
    if (a==b) // this gives 'true'
    But:
    String a = "a text";
    String b = "a text";
    if (a==b) // this gives 'false' because a and b aren't the same object.
    // they just have the same value and that's the difference.
    Try with 'equals' method:
    if (you.equals("home"))
    That works !!!

    Serial numbers are Operating System specific. If you bought the product for Windows then it wont work on Mac or vice-versa. If you're having issues finding the serial number in the Adobe account, then please follow the steps in the below mentioned link :

    P.S - If you have not registered the serial number in any of the Adobe account then I am afraid it would be difficult for support team to help you in that.

  • Can't fix wamp 404 LocalHost problem, have all details, help please!

    I've got both Apache services running with my XP WAMP setup (with Wordpress installed in C:\wordpress). The WAMP icon turns to green when I click on start WampServer. If I click on the Localhost option, I get the 'It works!' response every time, no problem.
    When I click on phpMyAdmin option, however, I always get the dreaded '404 Not Found' error message. My efforts via YouTube videos regarding this problem helped me get rid of the hash tag in the 'mod_rewrite' line of the htpd.conf file. I can't seem to get any further via the YouTube videos. Hate to be a haunt, but can anyone help me with this one? WAMP is installed in my C:\wamp folder, if that's helpful.

    Your code looks fine. Unless you actually made a typo in the URL I can't explain this problem. To verify this I even copied your web.xml and the SimpleServlet without any changes to my playground environment and it ran just flawlessly at http://localhost:8080/playground/servlets/HelloWorld
    To exclude things, have you tried another applicationserver (Tomcat 6? Glassfish? Jetty?) or maybe another OS?

    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store        
    If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

    As I was downloading my old films that I purchased a while ago off my icloud, my laptop had notified me that I had insufficient data to do the downloads. So I cleared some old photos and old documents that I had no longer used. However itunes had notified saying there were issues in downloading some of the films and as I did discover, some of my films have only been partially downloaded, around the first 16 minutes or so. I was wondering whether I could re-download it somehow, I have tried deleting the films but it doesn't give me the option to do so. Any experts that might be able to help me on this?     I just replaced the drive only a little over a yer and it went bad Put windows 7 in but now it doesnt recognize my ethernet, wireless adapter I have no drivers I have tried downloading from the drivers list I think it was a realtek but it did not work I wnet to order the recovery cd from the website but when I put my serial number in it says I should get the L655 recovery  cd but on the back of my laptop its say L755 any have any help for this?

  • Added BT Profile, removed, and now have strange happenings-Help Please

    Some Background:
    I recently bought some bluetooth headphones, paired them successfully, and found bad sound quality though headphones. Researched and found out about A2DP, also that I need to upgrade to 10.5 to take advantage of it. Ok, no big deal, I was going to upgrade soon anyway. But I am waiting for a piece of software that I use frequently to be updated for 10.5 as it doesn't work for that version yet. Also, the Logitech BT mouse that I have been using flawlessly, started freezing intermittently. The only way to get it to start moving again was to click or scroll wheel. Needless to say, very obtrusive. No thanks, I'll wait until I can upgrade and all will be fine.
    So... I go back to using my iPod earbuds as usual until I can upgrade allowing for software update from another company. Deleted headphone(headset) profile in BT preferences, made sure settings are ok for everything and plug in. Now sound is 'tinny' just like they were through bluetooth headphones. Also the mouse is STILL acting up. Never had it do that before the headphones. BT Apple Keyboard is working fine, no issues.
    I've lost good quality sound (sounds like a 1970's 4" speaker but in stereo). Mouse is constantly having to be clicked/scrolled to use it. I can't find any answers, and I am getting extremely frustrated. Makes trying to use ANY application a true chore.
    Any Ideas? I've checked every setting I can think of to no avail. Help!

    1. No, but you might be able to upgrade to Lion. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check that the computer has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU, and if so, click here.
    2. Check the RAM from the About this Mac window, choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu, control-click the internal drive, and choose Get Info. If the computer has a 32-bit EFI, it can't be upgraded to Mountain Lion or above regardless of the RAM and free drive space.
