Do I have a virus that isn't showing up?

i went into a website and then something came up saying i had a virus, the website went off my computer and something came up that looked like a virus scanner and said my computer was infected. i exited the "virus" and my macbook pro seems unaffected. Since then i have done a system update and deleted all my history on both safari and firefox (i was using firefox when this happened) on my macbook pro. I know it is highly unlikely but still possible that my mac was infected. Should I be worried?

Could be a flakey PC trap and that message comes up automatically for every visitor. Lots of these use FUD to scare visitors enough to download their phony virus protection program. Which turns out being a virus, trojan horse of some kind of adware that does nothing beneficial for the visitor.

Command, option and escape keys held down together will open the "Force Quit" dialog window.
Quit Safari and then relaunch it while holding down the shift key.

Quick solution, if you have your stuff backed up on Time machine, then restore your Mac to a date when it was worked without a problem.
Never install any software that purpose to do a Mac clean. Trust me, you do not need to clean a Mac, it does not run as a Windows computer because on a Mac OS, there is nothing like disc defragmentation, the Windows clatter that causes PCs to run slow.

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

If the icon exists on your screen, just do a long press on that icon and when the small X appears on top of the app, press it and it will delete it. As long as this is not an Apple app, since those cannot be deleted.

I have a ringtone that I would like to have a as a ringtone when someone leaves a new voicemail message.
The ringtone is installed on the iphone. I can select it as a ringtone for phone calls in settings........ no problem.....
But when I go to settings on the iphone, the "new voicemail" ringtone option, the one ringtone that I want to use does not show up in the list.
All of my other ringtones are available accept the one I want to use? I have a total of 6 custom ringtones. 5 show up in "new Voicemail" drop down...

Here are the steps, from an Apple note. You said the eject key didn't work and there was nothing to drag to the trash ....
Try to eject discs using the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, holding down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.

I have a Mac Pro OS X 10.7.5 with a virus which pops up takes over the screen and even has a voice telling me to call this number(1-888-205-3073).
I called the number and the person had a distorted voice which told me to take my compute to Best Buy to have it cleaned for $390.00. What can I do?

I doubt a virus, likely just a regular pop up. Do not call.

So my computer had a message this morning saying to update Adobe Active X
I also got "McAfee anti virus" on my computer for free. I am in an instant chat with them and they say that its fake and that they do not do that, so either this Adobe Active X update or whatever is also fake or somehow Adobe is piggy backing a "virus" with their stuff. I need help quick before I do anymore.
Now on the bad me side. I watch project free TV and it said that I needed to update my Adobe Active X, which was done by me. In the add remove programs it reads Adobe Systems Incorporated as the publisher, and I want to know if that is you? Please let me know, I wish you had system instant chat like McAfee

You need to be clear with product names; there is no such thing as Adobe ActiveX, but there is Adobe Flash Player ActiveX.
If you are unsure if you are offered the genuine product, go to the Adobe website and explicitly download the specific update.

Computer was shut down and need to know how to retrieve important information from open tab that isn't showing in history and wasn't bookmarked

My computer was shut down with live work still needing to be completed within an open tab of Firefox. The site that I was working from had not been bookmarked and a saved link back to the site had not been done yet either. After starting my laptop back up and opening Firefox, I don't have anything in the history taking me back to the site. Can I get back to that session at all and if so how? Or how do I search?

You would really have to ask the app developer if there is a way to export the data.
As for adding a printer, you would need to purchase an AirPrint compatible printer and connect it to your wireless network.

I have one app, the game Diablo II, that still shows up in my Applications folder as it always has but does not show up in Launchpad when I pull that up in Lion. All of my other apps are there in Launchpad... but not this one. Any idea how I make an app that I can see in my Applications folder show up in launchpad also?

In Firefox I did a search for Alaksen ( wildlife refuge). The search results were appropriate. Clicking on any site in the Google search diverted me to various commercial websites that were completely unrelated to Alaksen.

Try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:

I have a drive that won't show up in Final Cut Pro X

Just got FCPX. All of my external hard drives except the one I had reserved for Video show up inside FCPX.
Actually, if I reboot and open FCPX it shows up for an instant, then disappears.
The drive itself shows up on the desktop and behaves normally. It's formatted the same way as the others
(Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) that do appear within FCPX. Curious.
Went through AppleCare, created New User test account, still disappears from FCPX.
So they deduce there's a problem with the drive. They suggest re-ordering the firewire chain, but easier
said then done. There are some USB drives involved too.
Anyone ever experienced this issue?
Oh yes, I re-downoaded FCPX from the Apps Store and everything behaves the same way.

I'd like to thank everyone who contributed. What happened earlier today was, I copied everything of my "Video" drive which took hours, and then reformatted it. After that, it showed up in FCPX, not really caring what I named it. Perhaps Tom W. is correct about it looking what's on the top level of the drive. At this point though, there was nothing on the disc. Anyhow, I thought I had it licked. I went off to do a job tonight, came home, and now my PHOTO drive is strangely corrupted. It's 3TB. It won't let me add anything to it and it says it can't be repaired, that I must reformat it. So I took a look on my TimeMachine Backup drive (another 3TB) and the PHOTO drive which I thought had been backed up wasn't there. It will let me copy the files to another drive, so in 6 or 7 hours, I imagine I'll have the files copied, so I can reformat the drive for PHOTOs. What the heck is going on?
And in the meantime, two more drives have disappeared from the list of drives from within Final Cut.
So, thanks everyone, but I just may have to find a bridge to jump off...
