Do I have Shockwave player?

Ok stupid question, but Do I have Shockwave player?
I don’t ever recall installing it nor do I want it but some odd things make me wonder if I have it
If I do, then I haven’t updated it and that concerns me.
When I look in these location, I do not find it:
C:\ProgramFiles
Start>Programs
(I have Vista OS)
Control Panel> Programs> Programs and Features
But when I look in
C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files
I see this item   Shockwave Active X control   4kb size  version  11.5.1.601
Also when I check in my browser under tools> manage add-ons I see this as an add on that was used at one time by my browser (and still shows enabled)
Shockwave Active X    SwDir.dll
It also indicates that this dll is located in C:\Windows\System32\Adobe\Director
When I look in C:\Windows there is NOT an adobe folder
When I run a search on my computer looking for SwDir.dll, I find nothing on m computer like that
Now when I uninstall FLASH PLAYER and I go to like yahoo.com and look in my manage addo-ns, there is Shockwave Active X    SwDir.dll,  showing,  but ONLY if FLASH PLAYER is uninstalled

IE7 is not quite perfect browser, this program is better to use only as a tool for downloading a normal browser

  • Confirm Shockwave player file version by looking at a file version?

When I go online it says I have Shockwave Player 11.5.2r602.  But I can't see to locate a file anywhere on my computer that when I look at it's file version, it shows that.  Does anyone know how I can verify the shockwave player version of a computer by simply looking at the file version of a certain file on that computer?

    Thanks!
I couldn’t find the Shockwave Player forum on the main Adobe forums page, thanks for the link also.

  • Flash Player and Shockwave player Not Recognized

I have Safair running in Rosetta.
Some webisites state I need 7 or above Flash Player and that I don't have Shockwave Player- but I do!
I tested them at the Adobe webiste and it states I have Flash Player 8,0,24,0 and Shockwave l0,1r,11 Successfully installed.

Susiecat, there is a new Flash Player 9.0 plugin beta that runs natively on Intel Macs and probably will be general release soon. The new Shockwave Player 10.1.1r16 plugin still needs to be run with Safari in Rosetta mode but probably will be ported to run natively on Intel-based Macs soon.

  • I have downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.6.636 but I have been unable to use it.  Please help

I have downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.6.636 but I have been unable to use it.  Thanks

Can you be a little bit more specific what you mean by "unable to use it"?

  • I am having trouble opening up website games. I have already updated Adobe Flashplayer and Adobe Shockwave player. Still won't work.

I am attempting to play games at Shockwave.com and they won't open. I have updated Adobe Flashplayer and Shockwave player, but they still won't work. What else do I need to do to get them to work?

Hi, If your Anti-Virus has found malware, then what are their instructions on removing it? Also what are the names of the Malware and the location that it was found? Look in the log that your Anti-Virus should have to find this info.
Malware can effect not only Flash Player, but depending on what type it is other programs on your computer/system.
Is your system a 64bit? I understand you are using the 32bit browser. If you didn't find anything in the system32 location then you would have the Flash files in the SysWOW64 location.
If you don't have the Shockwave Flash Object in the manage addons, that is why Flash Player is not working.
    Thanks,

  • Firefox Plugins lists Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.70 but Adobe lists this as Adobe Flash Player, and Version 12.0.9.149 as Adobe Shockwave Player, so wtf is going on

Flash causes us all immense confusion, and Firefox is adding to the problem.
My Firefox Add-ons page lists (under Plugins -- isn't there a difference?) that I have:
Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.70 which is set to "Always Activate".
    Adobe websites list:
    Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70
    Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0.9.149
-- so what on earth is the Firefox-listed "Shockwave Flash"?
This simply adds to the utter confusion already surrounding Flash Player -- which I cannot find anywhere amongst my Programs -- but which I can find under "Uninstall or change a Program" where it is listed as "Adobe Flash Player 12 Plugin".
There is also the thorny issue of FlashPlayer vs. FlashPlayerDownloader......
I need a flash of inspiration to get me out of shock -- I'm not waving, I'm drowning!

In the internals of the plugin it is still referenced as Shockwave Flash. That hasn't changed as it would break websites that check for a specific plugin name. You can see that on the about:plugins page and in the properties of the Flash plugins file.
You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) and paste this JavaScript code in the command line to see how the Adobe Flash Player plugin identifies itself:
    <pre><nowiki>console.log(navigator.plugins["Shockwave Flash"].name);
    console.log(navigator.plugins["Shockwave Flash"].description);
    </nowiki></pre>
    *https://developer.mozilla.org/Tools/Web_Console
On disk you will also see Macromedia for folder names used by the plugin.
    *32 bit Windows: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
    *64 bit Windows: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\
    * C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\

  • Old movie will not play in new shockwave player

Hi, I have searched the forums, Adobe support and web in
general for help on this, but to my surprise have not found
anything. I created some Shockwave movies perhaps 5 years ago for
science education and have not used Director since then. I just
received a report that the movies are broken and will not play.
This is happening on WinXP in IE and in Firefox with the latest
Shockwave player installed, but the movies work fine on OSX 10.4.8
in Safari and Firefox, also with the latest Shockwave player
installed. I am not a Director developer anymore and do not own a
current version of the program, I am primarily a scientist and
educator. I'm hoping the problem is in the code that embeds the
movie, and that the movies are still compatible with the new
Shockwave player on Windows. Can anyone help out, please? One of
the movies can be found at

  • Shockwave player compatible with OSX 10.10.2?

Since updating to Yosemite, I am having probs with shockwave player. When on certain sites, i get the error "plugin failed." I have reinstalled adobe reader to the latest version, and when checking shockwave it says i have most current version. I have not found a place where i can uninstall shockwave, then reinstall. i also cant find it in my apps folder (shouldnt it be separate from Adobe Reader?) I have checked and it does this failure on the latest versions of Safari, Firefox and Chrome. I have also run disk utility and repairs.
If shockwave player is not compatible with Yosemite, could u let me know? I have spent HOURS on this prob, with no solution. Any help will be appreciated.

It sounds like you have an older AirPort Express.
Check the Model No on the side of the device. If you see A1084 or A1088 there, Mountain Lion 10.8.2 will not support these devices.
You might be able to use a workaround mentioned in this article:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167965/mountain_lion_and_the_ancient_airport_ba se_station.html
This is not supported by Apple, but it does work for me. Unfortunately, there is no way to say whether it might work for you if you want to try it.
Other users may post with some other workarounds as well.

  • Can I download and save the shockwave player application for later installation on more than one PC

I would like to find a  "setup.exe" file for the shockwave player and flash player (to begin with) so I can be sure fellow cowworkers all have the same versions installed on their own PC. This would make it more efficient to share files, explainations etceteras.
I was given this assignment after I installed virtual drives with Windows, on a few Mac PCs, and now I've been asked for more ways to streamline  file shareing.  I am attempting to convince the foremen, detailers, Crew managers & others to use Windows 8, as it can be synced with everyone's phones, tablets, androids & PCs. This would just be a beginning, mainly for demostration. I hope I haven't taken on an impossible task. Thank you in advance for any help offered.

  • What is Adobe Shockwave player and why do I need it?

Do I need Adobe Shockwave if I already have Adobe Flash?

Shockwave Player is a different player than Flash Player, but there are actually very few sites out there that use it.

  • Adobe Shockwave Player version 11.5.1.601 download problem

Whenever I try to download version 11.5.1.601it will go about one quarter ways through installation process then I get the message:
    Error opening file for writing:
    C:/WINDOWS/system32/Adobe/Director/np32dsw.dll
Click Abort to stop the installation,
    Retry to try again, or
    Ignore to skip this file
What does it mean?  What do I have to do?

    Try this
    download http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_In staller_Slim.exe (save to disk);
close all browser windows, then run the downloaded installer.
P.S. The Shockwave Player forum is here http://forums.adobe.com/community/webplayers/webplayers_shockwave

  • When I try to update the shockwave player it asks for authorisation tick box then it says close fifefox which closes the whole thing down and back to square one, any help please

shockwave keeps crashing all the time so I tried to up date the shockwave player from the add on section. The problem here is that you have to tick the I agree box which then tells you firefox is in conflick and you have to close it down which takes you back to square one.

save the installation file to your hard disk, then close FF and run the installation file.

  • Shockwave Player won't work with my Firefox 2.0

I wonder if you can help me in the way of a "things to check"
list? I have downloaded and installed the Shockwave and Flash
players, however when I'm trying to play Shockwave Games it tells
me that there is no Shockwave Player plugin compatible with my
Browser. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.2 on MS Windows XP Pro, and I'm
trying to play Couronne King at
    http://www.king.com.
Thanks in advance - if you need to know more please
    ask.

I blame Adobe; I blame Shockwave. In my view it's pro-IE,
pro-Microsoft. I Installed Firefox 2.0.0.1 and I have wrestled with
Shockwave to work Firefox as it does with IE. Waste of time and
    effort so far.

  • Shockwave Player Not Working... PLEASE HELP!

Every single time I try to go into something like a game or
something else that requires the use of shockwave player, a screen
pops up that says somehting like 'you must restart your computer in
order for shockwave installation to be complete.' The thing is, I
have already downloaded and restarted the player. So each time I
get this message, I restart my computer and when I go back to where
I wanted to go, the same message keeps coming up over and over
again, no matter how many times I restart. What is going on here,
and how can I fix it?

Without any details no-one can help you.

  • In PowerPoint I Have Shockwave ActiveX Control - How do I Get Shockwave Flash Object?

I'm running the latest versions of Windows 7 and PowerPoint via Parallels on my Mac. I want to insert a Flash movie into a PowerPoint slide. The instructions I've found tell me to look in Developer section->More Controls, find Shockwave Flash Object, use it to insert a Flash Object, and then to edit the Movie property of that object. But, I do not see Shockwave Flash Object. Instead I see Shockwave ActiveX Control. The properties of Shockwave ActiveX Control do not include a Movie property.
I have gone to "http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/" and clicked the option to install the Shockwave Player, but the site says the Shockwave Player is already installed.
How can I get the Shockwave Flash Object for PowerPoint into my installation?
Thanks very much in advance to all for any info.

Hi Vik..  I don't use Powerpoint but I do know about Shockwave Flash Object. It is in the manage add ons and installs when Flash Player is installed. It is an ActiveX Control and if you have the latest FP installed, Flash10d.ocx should be listed on the same line. It may or may not list the version #, which would be 10.0.42.34. It must be enabled.
Beyond that info I could give you a link to a thread that involved powerpoint 2003 and 2007 if you think that would be of
    any help to you.
    Just post back.
    Thanks
