Do I have the right drivers installed?

& I have an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (but the Dell version) that has the optical ports on it also.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. The Device Driver says:

I d/led and installed the beta drivers, so I thought it shoul;d be 2.8.03

Well, at least now I know what's going on. It would be really decent of CL were they to document this problem SOMEWHERE here on the website. It's bad enough that DDL is broken in Windows 7. However, forcing their customers to waste days at a time trying to troubleshoot something that isn't fixable, as is, strikes me as pretty bad business manners. :|

    The iTunes application itself is still 32-bit. It's the drivers that are (and must be) 64-bit. So no, that in and of itself is not the cause of the problems with freezing. More likely that's due to your running Windows 8.1 which to my knowledge is not yet officially supported, though someone else here may be able to offer suggestions.

    I'm also getting the "invalid serial number", but I'm wanting to upgrade my 5.1 to 5.1.4 to take advantage of HDV 720p/24 support. Is the 5.1.4 update even an option still? I really don't want to be forced to upgrade to FCS2 and shell out $500, just to get this one feature that was included in a patch.
    I went to the Registration page and it actually allowed me to register the serial number... (which I'm pretty sure I already had), but it still won't let me in to download any updates. Also, the email confirmation that was supposed to be sent has not arrived 20+ minutes later.
    Very strange. I called Apple support and they estimated a wait time of 15 mins... ugh.
    Anyone have other suggestions?

    Sorry to be so late getting back to you. My furnace died and I was a week without heat. Everything's ok now.
    I was able to grab an old firefox from an external drive (thank God for backups!) and I used that along with the link that you sent me for older versions and I was able to download the version before the current update.

    All using the same driver
    I have a Canon printer that has a rear tray and a bottom tray
    So, I will have one printer that prints to the rear and the other to the bottom
    Other printers (the same one) will be set so that they print in high quality and in duplex for example
    I'll name the printers 1.Canon 2.Canon 3.Canon etc
    So, when I go to print, I just hit a number on the keyboard and the printer I want is selected
    Can I do the same on my laptop?

    Back Up - that's in case things go wrong.
    In the case you cite:
    You have
    Mother
    Mother Maiden Name
    as Faces, right?
    In the Corkboard view click on Mother Maiden Name and delete the 'Maiden Name'.
    It will disappear and all the photos will be in the Mother face.
    Note that 'Mother' and 'Mother ' (that is, with a trailing space) are not the same.
    You can  also just edit the name 'Mother Maiden Name' to 'Mother'
    As for photos staying in manual sort, I can only say that mine do. But as I've no idea what troubleshooting steps you've used.

    Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
    Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
    You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
    Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
    Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

    Here's an old fix for the problem. Don't know it applies now:
    Clearing Caches to Fix Login Problem
    You will need to type some Unix commands. If you are not comfortable with this, I don't know of anything other than a re-install. But if you are careful, you should be OK. I recommend you print this out in a largish mono-spaced font so you don't miss any spaces (or add extra ones). Note that case is important.
    Be careful. Some of these commands are dangerous, since you are going to be root.
    Start up in Single-user Mode. When this has finished you will see a prompt ending in '#', although there may be other messages. Enter the following commands after the prompt:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    Press RETURN. Wait a few seconds for 8-10 lines of output. If the last line says repairs were carried out, repeat this command until you get a message 'The volume <yourdiskname> appears to be OK'. Then continue with:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    cd /Library/Preferences
    rm com.apple.loginwindow.plist
    rm com.apple.windowserver.plist
    cd /Library/Caches
    rm -r *
    cd /System/Library
    cd /System/Library/Caches
    rm -r *
    reboot
    Press RETURN after each command.
    This should now take you to a proper login screen after the normal boot sequence. You should then Repair Permissions by using Disk Utility (in your /Applications/Utilities folder).
    If it isn't applicable in your version of OS X, then I suggest:
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following
    procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
         Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
         COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
         after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
         Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
         Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select ReinstallLion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from
         the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
         Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

    I tried another SOA version (Oracle SOA Suite 11.1.1.5.0, 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.2.0). I checked the JavaHome and Runtime variable. But can't pass that install step.
    Anyone meet this ? And how to solve ? Help me.

    Make sure that the linux installation user can create file in the directory that contains the installation binary.

    Well, I am frustrated... seriously...
    I jsut got the iPod nano for cheristmas and i can't use it, because i can't install the AMDS.
    basically, when i try to install AMDS it says that I don t have the prvileges to install it. so i ahve to skip this installation... in the end, i can't find the drivers to install my ipod on my laptop.

    anyway, I think i know what wrong is going on.
    AMDS basically install drivers on your computer. When you connect your iPod you use the drivers to reconize it.
    Since I don t have these drivers, no chance my iPod is reconized.
    the porblem why i can't install ADMS is that there are some privileges that do not allow me.
    hope someone will come up with an idea to solve this problem

    Yes, updated to firmware version 1.28. That was the 1st thing I did.
    Then I authorized my iRiver. ADE had been installed way before I got
    iRiver. It has a couple library books there. I hoped to read them on
    iRiver. After I read this thread and another one at

    CtrlShiftE  and CtrlShiftD to de-authorize both my computer and the
    device. Then authorized both and had to download books again, deleted
    previously copied books from iRiver and copied fresh copies. No luck.
    Don't know what to do next. Emailed iRiver.

    Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

I didn't have a problem when I had a Canon Pixma on the network, but when I replaced it with the Epson nothing seems to work. I go to add a printer to the queue and only the FAX function of the printer shows up - not the WS-4530 print function. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?  Please??? :-)
