Do I have to activate the upgraded phone if I go upgrade at the Verizon store?
All of the lines in my family shared plan are eligible for an upgrade right now (2 smartphone lines and 2 dumbphone/voice only lines). i want to keep the phones i am currently using on ALL 4 lines. I know you have to activate your phone if you upgrade via online and that is how the customer accepts the terms and conditions. my question is:
1. can i go to the store and upgrade all 4 lines to, for example, the samsung galaxy s4 and get the 2 year contract price @ $200 each (totalling $800) WITHOUT opening the box?
2. i know data plan is required for smartphones, so if i get the data plan for the dumb phone for the upgrade, and after the upgrade, i deactivate the smartphone and move the number back onto the dumbphone, will i incurr a charge for having a data plan for the few minutes it takes up upgrade the phone?
3. instead of moving phone numbers back and forth from used phones to new phones and back onto the used phones, can i just go to the store and tell the customer rep to renew my contract term for 2 years and sell me the 4 smartphones for $200 each?

I would love help and provide clarity ShaggyPod! Yes, you can visit a store location and upgrade all 4 lines without activating the devices. A 2 year contract will be accepted prior and an "activate later" will be selected for the lines of service. It depends what plan you are on to give accurate information about data plan changes. However, you will be charged for the day(s) the plan was changed. Not necessarily. You can remove the SIM card from the phone and set it up via wifi only first and then go the your MyVerizon account online and activate the phone.

i recently upgraded my 4s to a 5s. the verizon store took my old phone for a trade in. i cannot get any of my pictures to download from icloud. my photo stream folder only has a small percentage of the photos in it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
That's possible if he didn't connect to a WiFi hotspot after taking them. I don't think the "Personal" Photo Stream uploads over Cellular, unless they changed it since the last time I used it.
If that's the case, then the photos likely didn't upload to Photo Stream and are stuck on the phone.
And you're not going to be able to get them back, either. -
I recently changed my phone. Before I did the guy at the Verizon store said my photos were backed up in my photo stream. I have logged on and cannot locate them. Is their something I can do to recover them?
Photo Stream does not "backup" your photos, you have to do that yourself on iTunes, BUT if you have the iCloud app for your PC/Mac installed, your photos will be on there

Can any one advise me please - I have recently bought the ipad mini and I have disabled the bluetooth application on the advise read in a book about the ipad - the ipad will stay home normally - however should I decide to take it out and want to use it, do I have to activate the bluetooth to be able to use it away from home?
You only need bluetooth if you are connecting to and using a bluetooth accessory, like BT wireless headphones. You can leave bluetooth on or off and go ahead and use your iPad normally anywhere.
Your iPad will work anywhere - the only things you may have to alter as you travel around with it are cellular and wifi settings. If you have a wifi only iPad mini, you may need to select wifi networks when away from your home network in order to connect. If you have a wifi & cellular iPad mini, you would usually turn off cellular at home and use your home wifi connection. But when away from home, and if outside of range of any free wifi hotspots, you would then need to enable the cellular connection in order to get on the internet.
But using your iPad, and having a data connection are independent things to a degree. You don't need any connection (wifi, or cellular) to read a book or document you've downloaded, or watch a movie you've downloaded, or listen to music or podcasts you've already downloaded. Your iPad only needs the data connection if what you wish to do requires internet access. And Bluetooth is only needed if you want to connect to and use a bluetooth accessory. -

If you don't already have an I with Verizon Wireless or you are adding a line to use this phone on then you will be charged an activation fee to open the account or add a line to your existing account.
If you are planning to switch one of your current phones with this new phone, then you won't be charged an upgrade fee since this would be considered a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) scenario. -

To restore from an iCloud backup you have to erase the phone and start over. To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup assistant again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup. There is no other way to do this.
Be sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this is likely to take some time to finish. -
Battery dying faster than normal and I have been to the Apple Store and battery is fine
Is anyone else experiencing this? Both my iPad and my iPhone 5 started to have the battery die 2x faster after the latest upgrade. I have reset it without losing data and I am about to reset one of them back to original. Any one have any suggestions? I am thinking that one of my apps is trying to always load or search for wifi but not sure and don't know how to figure out which one it is.
I have been to the Apple store and they have checked my batteries and both are fine. The staff suggested that I let the battery die right down and completely charge it and then shut it down for a few seconds. so that the device is " clean" and then turn it back on but that didn't work at all.You can poke around in the settings. There's a lot of stuff defaulted to on that you may not need. Such as notifications. Background app update, background app update. Try turning those off and see if that helps.

Swipe through your screens and swipe to the left of your Home screen. Type in App Store in the search field. It's a permanent pre installed Apple app so it can't be deleted.
If you can't locate it on the iPad for some reason, connect the device to your computer. Right or control click the iPad under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click: Restore from backup
