My Gaming Rig is I guess outdated to many of you:

P4 3.2
gig 3200
EVGA 6800 Ultra
*SB LIVE 5. Platinum
I know many of you here can tell that my 5. is causing me some issues.
It is. In fact my rig plays all the new games great with the exception of
audio. I feel that my 5. is causing me some if not all of the glitching and stuttering
Im getting is say FEAR for example. I just go SIN Emergence and I have serious
audio glitches.
So I came to the this forum to check out what people were saying about the new Platinum
cards. I had no idea of what I have been reading. I am a big ASUS fan for years now. After now well over a year of serious troubleshooting and analysis I am positi've that I must get a new Sound card Directx 9 compliant EAX 3+ and more.
BUT like most gamers none of us want or use SP in XP.
Will the X-FI Platinum or Fatality install and work if I just have SP?
Id really appreciate any assitance. Since my system is older it the X-FI might not suffer from some of the issues I am reading about. I am hoping so. But I will not go to SP2 and if I put the card in and load the drivers CD and it says you need SP2 I have wasted my money.

If home sharing is setup and you have an IOS device that is on the same network you can download the remote app. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new remote.

On the PowerMac G4 I had it had to be connected, but not sure about the model you have. My guess would be yes due to shielding in the case, but would rather wait and hear from someone else.

Yes, our domain and email accounts are on a server that does accept IMAP. Also, our mac mini and imacs are all set up for IMAP. Buying an ipad will enable me to work from home during this winter.
Another ?: do you know if you can use text edit with the iPads mail feature? Reason being we have about 100 generic emails that all we have to do is change a few fields before sending out. Can this be integrated in without having to recreate all these messages?

I just read, that you can't install lightroom 5 on the same license on two different platforms because of different services provided.
Is it possible to delete the PC-version and continue solely with the MacVersion!?

Unless things have changed your Lightroom purchase can be used on two PC's, 2 Macs, or one of each. You just need to download the Mac version and install it on the Mac. You should not have to do anything with the PC installation.

Ok so we now have a solution to the problem. A friend of mine came round to work this out with me last night and we were able to get it working, but it is not as easy as I had hoped. Fisrtly we plugged the airport express into my router using the ethernet cable (for this I am using an Airport Express Base Station") and in airport utilities selected the airport express. In edit, we then gave the airport express a new range of IP address which did not conflict with any of the other applications that I have already assigned. We also named the Airport Express with a distinguishable name. We then waited for the changes to be registered then unplugged the Airport Express from the router. I then plugged my AppleTV via HDMI into a tv to test it and selected the new wifi network with the new Airport Express distinguishable name. I was able to watch a video that I have on my ipad directly on my tv without being connected to the internet, and was able to play Airplay presentations.
No the easiest solution, and certainly not something that anyone at Apple has talked me through in my lengthy conversations with them at Applecare.

Yes you can, and it's then up to you whether to have the same the same or different content to the older one. When you sync to it your computer for the first time it may be best to give it a different name, just so that you can distinguish them.

I had this question as well. i don't think MSN or Hotmail allows the enabling of pop mail. Therefore it cannot be used unless you subscribe it to a pop mail client. I just switched over to gmail to maike things easier. But would love to find out an answer to this question

System flags are defined by the IMAP spec and every server has to support them.
User flags are defined by the application. Different IMAP servers may have different
limitations on user flags.

Can I use headphones with the two adapter plugs on a Mac Pro

I have headphones with two plugs. I don't know where to plug them in. There are two portsin the back and before I open this package I need to know if those are the appropriate ports, since they are the only two side by side ports on the tower. I have another set of headphones that have the two plugs, but upon trying them, there was no sound regardless of how i adjusted things in the 'sound' in system preferences.
Help with this is greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing that the headset has a microphone as well as earphones, yes? If so, there is no microphone input on your Mac Pro, only a line level input. So you can use the headphones portion as is, but the mic will require additional hardware.
The ports will be designated in the user guide for your model of Mac Pro:

but if you look at the various ports on the back of the MP carefully, you'll find one marked with a tiny "speaker" icon. That's the line-level output to which you can connect some headphones. The other port is a line-level input. If you want to use a microphone, you'll need either a line-level mic or an amplifier device of some sort. Griffin's iMic is a commonly-recommended converter.
