Do I have to install acrobat updates in sequence?

I choose to disable Acrobat automatic updates and install them manually.  I find the end users don't install updates and usually ignore the acrobat updates icons.
The only issue is that I'm not able to install the latest updates unless I go through each previous update first.  For example I have Acrobat 11.0.0 from DVD and I want to update to 11.0.9 but it fails unless I install 11.0.1, 11.0.2, 11.0.3 and so on. This seems silly. To bring Adobe Acrobat up to date I will have to install over 900MB of patches.
Do the updates need to be applied in sequential order?
Thanks

The way it works if you just did a normal installation from the default installation file is as follows:
- The base installation 11.0.0
- The latest Quarterly Update (11.0.09 at this time)
* Note:  If there are Security Updates between the Quarterly Updates then you need to apply those but as soon as the next Quarterly Update comes out you are back to first and last.

Installed Acrobat update 11.0.07 on a Mac running OSX10.7.5, and now it crashed constantly. It seems to crash almost every time I close a document, or when I open a 2nd document. Sometimes it crashes immediately upon opening a document, but on occasion I am able to open and close 3 or 4 documents in a row before it crashes. I've had dozens of crashes today. Had no problems at all before the update.

Yes, I too can see same problem with the above link. However the steps from that page are as follows:
The Adobe Forums do not offer file attachments. But there are sites you can use to upload and share your files. One such site is Adobe's Workspaces. Here are instructions for uploading a file to Workspaces and adding a link to the document to your message:
    1. Go to https://workspaces.acrobat.com/ and sign-in with your Adobe ID to the Workspaces service.
    2. Create an account if you don't have one.
    3. Then login to the website.
    4. In top left corner you will see a button called Upload.
    5. Click on browse and select the file you want to upload.
    6. After Uploading, mouse over on the uploaded file. Click the down arrow button and choose Share document.
    7. Then you will be prompted a popup window at the lower left corner. Choose "Publish it" option.
    8. In the next pop up window choose "Copy Link" option.
    9. You can paste the link in the forum thread.

Read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data. Quit the App Store application if it’s running. Test after each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Updates
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the contents of the selected folder to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
    Step 2
Do as in Step 1 with this line:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
If there's no change, quit the App Store and restore the file you moved from your backup, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, recreate your settings in the Software Update preference pane.
    Step 3
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
    Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.*.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.savedState
Here, "*" stand for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
    Step 4
If you still have problems, quit the App Store again.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A folder should open. Inside that folder, there may be a subfolder with the name "com.apple.SoftwareUpdate". If so, delete it. You can then quit Terminal.

  • Installing Acrobat Update error 1013

I received an Adobe Acrobat update this morning, and tried to install it.
Towards the end of the process, I received an error alert (1013).
Checking with Adobe, their recommendation was to enable the root user to complete the installation.
Checking with Apple, there were three different articles about enabling the root user, and each one of their instructions referred to
"Add" or "Edit" buttons in the System Preferences/Users and Groups/Login Items.
There are no such buttons or menus in the Login Items window.
Apple's instructions refer to items that don't exist in the Login Items window.
How do I enable the root user?
    please advise.
    Thanks

Apple instructions are missing a step: they do not instruct the user to "Login Options" in the Users & Groups Menu, where Network Account Server lives, and the "Join...." button is located.

  • I have just installed Acrobat 9 @ version 9.0.0 on my Windows laptop.  I want to perform the updates to 9.5.5, but Adobe does not provide active links.  Any help?

I just got off of "chat" with someone with a very long and unpronounceable name, and he told me that the download links I have found for the various update for Acrobat 9 are no longer active.  I already knew that...   My question is: where can I get them, then?  The files existed at one time, and they must be somewhere...  Any help?

Unfortunately, it worked very easily for me - so I have no troubleshooting suggestions.  I can, however, post in more detail what I found and what I did...
When I followed the link above, I found a listing of all versions of Adobe revs from 3.x thru 11.x - I clicked on 9.x.  In there was listing showing the various 9.x revs: 9.0, 9.1, 9.1.1, 9.1.2, etc.  Inside each of these, the next page just shows a "misc" folder.  After clicking on that, you finally get to the .msp file that you are looking for.  In my case, when I clicked on a .msp file to download it my computer asked me if I was really, really sure because these kinds of files can harm my computer.  I said OK, and never encountered any problems.
It is important that you install the files in the correct order, and skip the right ones.  Also, some of the folders contain more than one .msp file - so it is important that you choose the right one...  I found this list and followed it:
    AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd911_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd913_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd920_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd930_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd932_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd933_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd940_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd942_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd945_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd946_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd950_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd951_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd952_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd953_all_incr.msp
    AcrobatUpd955_all_incr.msp
Most of these require a restart of the computer, which I immediately did.  At some point (I wasn't paying attention, since I didn't expect it), Adobe Updater took over after a restart and did the rest of the upgrade in one fell swoop.  (I think it was around 9.4.2 or so...)
    Hope that helps!

  • Do I have to install the updates to CS4 in order?

Or does 6.0.5 contain all the updates in the previous 4 versions?
    Thanks,
    Harry

I believe 6.0.5 is all you need, but if I'm wrong the installer should have version validation included and will tell you you need to upgrade to the previous version first.
