Do I Have To Keep My Mp3s/Movies In iTunes?

Hello All!!
I have about 40 GB of movies and mp3 files on an external hard disk. In order to transfer these files to my new iPod Touch I copied them into iTunes on my MacBook Pro (where they eventually ended up in the folder /Users/<username>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media) which has very little disk space.
I have a few questions concerning iTunes and freeing up disk space on my MacBook.
1. Do I have to keep the files that I transferred to my iPod Touch on my MacBook?
2. If I delete the files from iTunes on my MacBook will they be automatically erased from my iPod the next time it performs a sync with iTunes?
3. Could I have made the external drive the location where iTunes stores it's media in order to not occupy disk space on my MacBook?

If it is a HD movie, it may not be enough. The iPad also need working space.
Try download to iTune (computer) and "Move" to iPad.

If there is an issue with the purchase then report the issue of your purchase to the iTunes Store. For future reference also make sure that the default for purchases are for HD and by default they should be in HD.

I am trying to load movies from my computer into itunes so as i can watch them on my IPAD 2.
I have converted them to MP4 but cannot get them to go into itunes.

Why do I have to keep unlocking my account on iTunes?

What is causing iTunes to keep blocking my account where I have to "unlock" or "reset" it for security reasons? I am the only person who uses my phone, computer, and iTunes account. I really don't understand why I have had to do this 3 x's now in the past couple months.
Never used to happen before, and nothing has changed at all.

Hi I'm thinking of buying an apple TV, but was wondering if i can stream videos from my computer (windows PC) that aren't in iTunes. Or do i have to put all my movies in iTunes to watch on the apple TV?

I keep getting the "connect to itunes" screen and have to restore my ipad. it will also drop the wifi connection every few mintues. what can be causing this?

It will not pick up my ipad so I either have to do a restore or restore to new and it will work fine for a day or so except for dropping the wifi connection. What can be causing this? I have had this pad since January of this year and have not had any problems until recently.

If you have to keep restoring your iPad with iTunes repeatedly and there is no change after restoring as a new iPad or not from the iPad's backup, your iPad has a major problem - likely a hardware problem. The iPad includes a one year warranty. You can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

I have a Dell 17R, Windows 8 64 bit, intel i7-3630QM at 2.4 GHZ, 8gb ram, Nvidia GT-650M at 1920x1080 using driver 320.49
When I play a movie in iTunes, the audio works flawlessly but the video will be smooth for a few seconds, stutter and then skip small 2-3 second spots. I haven't noticed that the parts skipped are any more graphically intense than other spots and there is no discernable pattern.
In the past, I have been able to play movies through iTunes with absolutely no problem but when I downloaded this most recent one a few days ago all of my movies have been experiencing the same issue.
When I stream other videos from other sources I do not experience the same problems as I do when I use iTunes. Streaming 1080P over youtube or a similar services is no issue.
I have updated my video drivers to the latest version as well.
I am at a loss, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Backing up Movies in iTunes

I have quite a bit of movies in iTunes. I want to back them up to an external drive to free up some space. What is the best way to do this?

Buy an external hard drive then simply drag and drop your entire iTunes folder onto the drive and copy everything.

Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

Highlight the movie, go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select create iPad and AppleTV version.

Try closing iTunes and reset your iPad. After the iPad starts up, try the download again.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the iTunes app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
