Do I have to load every cd I own to store them in the cloud

I would like to transfer my fairly large collection of CD's I own on to I tunes and then join match to store in cloud . I want to know if there is any other quicker way to accomplish this then recording each one into my hard drive on my Mac air ?

Hi,
The music must be physically in your iTunes library when match scans your library. There is no way around this.
You will need to import the CDs first, let match complete process then delete the tracks from your hard drive and leaving them in the cloud.

Play or download songs from iCloud
You can play songs directly from iCloud, or you can download songs so you can play them when you’re not connected to the Internet.
If a song is available in iCloud, it has a Download button next to it.
To play the song, double-click it.
To download the song, click the Download button.
After you download a song to a computer, it remains in the computer’s iTunes library, even if you turn off iTunes Match.
To only display downloaded songs in your iTunes library, choose View > Hide Music in the Cloud. This also hides any previous iTunes Store purchases you haven’t downloaded.

Thanks - I didn't realize that. I'm also embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to transfer the audio files from my iPod to the iTunes library on my computer. When I select a book from the list on the iPod, the only option I see with the right-facing arrow symbol is "Show in iTunes Store ". I back the iPod up to this computer so I guess those files must be on it somewhere, but all I can recognize in the iTunes folder under " Music" are the music files found in the "iTunes Music" folder. (There are also a ton of files named "iTunes Temp (some #).) The Books list on the computer shows some but not all of the audiobooks - I purchased the rest on a different computer that is now unfortunately dead. I'm guessing now that those didn't transfer over when the new computer was populated from the old one, so the iPod may be the only place where those audiobooks now reside. I hope that made some sense- any additional advice would be appreciated.

Adobe Captivate is the one but it's not in the Cloud. Camstudio is also very good at that.

Do those tracks still show on the album in the store ? If not then the rights-holder must have removed them, in which case you won't be able to redownload them, you will have to copy them back from your backup of your downloads/library. Without exact system info and version info nobody can tell you anything. From failed updates to simple compatibility issues and one of the machines not meeting the requirements for a newer version this could be anything.

I'm ok with having to resync everything once she gets home but it concerned me when you said it would, again, wipe everything once I plugged it in here. I don't care about having to reload music, contacts, & apps from here, but I would rather not lose all the pictures that she took while she was gone. If we did decide to go the whole start-over-from-scratch route on her end while she is there, could the loss of pictures be adverted if she created a backup of her phone, copied the backup to a USB drive, & brought the backup file home with her so I could restore it from here? When I plug my phone into another computer, I can open it through My Computer & copy the pictures; could I do that when she gets home before I allow iTunes to open & wipe everything again?
I guess the other option would be to just have her just copy all of the pictures onto a USB drive before she comes home, I'm just curious if it's possible to restore everything if she just brings the backup file home.

Are you talking about iCloud or iTunes Match?
They are different things. If you want your music on the iPhone, you should download it from iTunes Match.

I have lost pictures in iPhoto, but I can see them in the data folder, except they are only thumbnail size. They will not open at regular size and are showing unreadable in the "originals" folder. I've rebuilt and nothing is restoring these pics.

I have lost pictures in my iPhoto. We moved my iPhoto to a external hard drive and I believe since then, I have random pics missing. Some pics will show up in the "photos" and some show with a title and a blank picture. When I click on "package contents" in iPhoto, I have found the "Originals" folder where all the pics are pulling from and the file is there but won't open. However, in the DataXML folder under package contents, I can open the file but it is much smaller (supposed to be 1 MG, but showing in the data folder as 63kb). How can I get these pics restored in the Originals folder? I've rebuilt the library several times and I just ran the iPhoto Library Manager and it won't pull from the data file. Help!!

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
