Do i have to manually authorize for every song in my itunes library?

I just transfered my itunes library (some purchased and some ripped from my cds) to my new macbook.
I tried to play a song and it told me I had to authorize the computer to play the song. I authorized it and a message came on to tell me that I had authorized 2 out of 5 computers. When I tired to play another song it gave me the same error message "this computer is not authorized." I had to go into the folder, find the artist, the album, and the song, then it had me type in my password again. A message popped up saying I had now authorized 3 out of 5 computers....
It's the same computer!!
Am I really going to have to go through each and every one of my over 1,800 songs and go through this process?
I'm also worried to keep going because it is going to tell me that I have authorized another computer even though it's the same machine.
Isn't there a way to authorize my entire library at once?

Ok, so I don't want anyone to mess up their itunes library on account of my advice, so I would recommend getting in person help from someone who knows what they are doing.... but for what it's worth, here's what the guy in the apple store did for me.
He erased all the content (music/ video) in my itunes program, NOT the music in my itunes folder. We checked a few times to make sure that all the music in my itunes folder was really there. He explained it to me like the itunes music folder is where my music collection lives, and the itunes program is just the catalogue that lets me organize it and pick what I want to play. Erasing the itunes program content did clear out all of my personal playlists so that's kind of a bummer, but I can create those over again.
Once he had cleared out the itunes program (the whole list was just blank) he went into the itunes folder and selected everything and then dragged it and dropped it into the blank itunes list. It took a LONG time to copy over, but everything seems to be working fine now.
Again, I would recommend going to see someone, because I know I would be ****** if I erased all of my music on accident trying to follow some novice's description.

  • For each song in my iTunes Library just before the name of the song there is a check box.  What is the effect of checking or unchecking this box?

For each song in my iTunes Library just before the name of the song there is a check box.  What is the effect of checking or unchecking this box?
    Thanks

Unchecked items will not play unless specifically clicked on.  They will not be included on shuffle and will not be synced to ipods.

  • How can I wirelessly in for a song from my iTunes library on my PC to my iPad

I would think it would be a way to import a song from my iTunes library to my iPad if I wanted to take a few songs or maybe an album with me on the iPad I don't want to use a USB cable and connected to the computer I'd like to do it wirelessly.  Have Apple home sharing set up and thought I could just browse my iTunes library from the iPad and import a song that would be great if that works but I don't see a way to do it hoping that there's alternative ways to accomplish this.   Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Do you want to stream them to you or transfer them?   And are you talking about at home on your wifi network, or anywhere?
If away from home, the only way to get the songs is to download them as you want them from I cloud.  The cloud will not stream.
If you are home, you can go either way.  If you want to transfer them, then pick them on the computer, and sync. You cannot pick the songs to sync from the pad or phone.      If you are home, and you want to just listen to them, you can stream to your device using AirPlay.  Assuming all devices are on the same network with the same apple id, you can play song that live on your computer on your phone or pad.
In the music app, at the bottom, touch more, and your shared library will be available.

  • [Poll] Do You Have An Album Cover For Every Song In Your Library?

    I know I do
    What about you?

Yes! For ones not downloaded by iTunes, I have located the original art online or used a fitting graphic (for rare compilations, etc., where the actual artwork couldn't be found online). For one I have a graphic of an album on a turntable. But every album has something.

  • Is there a way to search for skipped songs in my iTunes library?

I'd like to know whether there's a quicker way to find songs that are being skipped in my iTunes library, than simply manually checking each one.  I've been rearranging and deleting music files in Windows Explorer recently, so I know that there is a chance that I have demolished the link iTunes had to some of the files, but there's no way I can remember what all the modified albums are.  I know how to reestablish the links when I do find a song that is being skipped, but I'd love to go through the whole library and be able to find them all at once.
The last time I did this, manually - and it seemed to take hours - I did find quite a lot of songs that were being skipped, and was able to reestablish the links or in some cases just delete the song from iTunes since i hadn't wanted it anyway.  But even then it was a little hard, since after manually checking in the quickest way I could - going through the song list and briefly playing each one for a second or fraction of a second - there was no way of sorting the songs by whether they were skipped or not.  I just had to be very careful as I scrolled, to catch each one that had the symbol indicating non-playability.
All that to say - is there some better, automatic way of searching for non-playable, skipped songs, and is there some way of sorting them out from the rest so one can address them, and not miss any?

Same question. Used to have an iPod. Lost it (best digital player ever), now I use other portable device. The mp3 files have their id3tag edited in the original file, but the .m4a don't!.
Want to know someway to write the info from the library to the original .m4a files.

  • All my songs are greyed out on my iPod except for the songs in my itunes library

I have over 10,000 songs on my ipod touch and when I connect to my Macbook Pro and go to itunes it states that there are over 10,000 songs on my ipod, but when I click to play them a little exclamation mark appears before it. (As it does when the source cannot be found.) At the bottom of itunes it still shows a large blue Audio bar stating that I have over 10,000 songs on it somewhere, but I cannot play them. When disconnecting from Itunes the artists and albums are all showing, but as soon as I go into an album all the songs are greyed out. This only just happened yesterday when adding a few extra songs I downloaded to my itunes and dragged and dropped them to my ipod.
Please help me, the data should be on the ipod somewhere, but for some reason I cannot reach it. I do not have a backup, so this is really annoying
    Thanks for any help

    Try:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
The grey-out ones may not be recoverable.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I have a time capsule with my iTunes library from a previous computer.  I now have a new computer with new songs on my iTunes library.  I'd like to retrieve my songs from my iTunes library which is stored in the time capsule.  How do I do this?

Hello there.  Wondering if there's any way I can retrieve songs that are stored in my time capsule that was backed up from my old previous computer?

    Actually you always use ethernet..
MBA does not come with ethernet port.. but apple sells both a cheap usb to ethernet and a much more expensive and much faster thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. With ethernet to eliminite this silly situation of setting up wireless over wireless, so if you make any change you instantly drops you off the network. Like cartoons of people sawing off the branch they are sitting on.
But you can reset.. no reset will do anything at all to the material on the hard disk. You must deliberately erase it.
Read the info because you may only need to do a soft reset. That is hold the reset for 1sec (2-3sec is fine)  as long as you don't hold it for a full reset.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728
Even a full factory reset will not harm your files in any way, (or any further!!)
I am "concerned" that you have no backup to vital files on your TC. That is not wise. TC are no more immune to failure than any other hard disk.. (actually latest ones use the cheapest green WD drives money can buy) and keeping files in only one location is a receipe for disaster. An external drive is much more accessible.. cheaper and tend to be more reliable. There are too many things to break in the TC.. it is designed as a backup target for TM. Not a file store.

  • How can I get the BPM information to populate for the songs in my iTunes library?

I'm trying to create playlists for my Aquatics classes as well as for walking. Is there something that needs to be set in iTunes? Do I need to purchase additional software?

iTunes does not measure BPM, so you'll either need to type in the information yourself or use a third-party product to determine the BPM. If you search MacUpdate for "BPM", you'll find a few such utilities, though the automatic utilities are in my experience often not particularly accurate.

  • Cannot get new messages to download automatically and auto reply with out of office message have to manually check for new messages to get it to do this

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird 31.3.0. I know how to create a message filter to set up an auto reply message, but cannot get Mozilla to automatically download new message and auto reply with the message in the filter unless I manually check for new messages, that is the only way to make it work. I have looked online and can't seem to find an answer to this particular issue. According to anything that I have found, I have the correct boxes checked in server settings: check for new messages at startup, automatically check for new messages, check for new messages every x amount of minutes. It's one thing to have to leave my computer on and Thunderbird open to make this work, but to have to manually check for new messages to get the auto response to work defeats the whole purpose of having an auto reply, as I use them for vacations, holidays, etc. I have wondered if there are any security settings that are causing this issue, but if so, I don't know what changes to make to them. Thanks in advance for any help. This is driving me crazy.

I do find it a bit odd that Thunderbird is not getting mail on schedule, perhaps you have an add-on or anti virus program that prevents that.
Holding shift while you start Thunderbird will start with add-ons disabled to check if mail come automatically.
Airmail is right though, use Verizons auto responder. This link might help with that http://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/highspeed/account+tools/email+tools/questionsone/85621.htm#
You say that not having such a setting in Thunderbird is something that needs fixing. This idea comes on the whole because Outlook has such an option. what most people are not aware of it only works with Exchange server. There is no "vacation response" in server mail specifications so every server implements it differently.
Just as all cars have a radiator, you can not take any radiator and just put it in, they are subtly different even though they perform the same purpose. Same goes for the various vacation responders, They perform the same purpose but they differ between email server software brands.
Thunderbird leaves it to the server end to expose the functionality, as they are really the only ones who understand what they did. Outlook exposes the option and mostly greys it out.

  • I have multiple views of every album for every song

I have multiple views of every album for every song

It should be possible to do this in Multicam - as long as the soloist's voices can be clearly distinguished - but it's a bit complicated to explain it step by step!
I strongly recommend you watch the Ripple Training Tutorial on Multicam Editing in Final Cut Pro X to get the best out of it. (Costs $29.99).

That's not how to do it. You don't move stuff then set the iTunes prefs > Advanced.
Once you move the /iTunes/ folder, hold Option, launch iTunes and select Choose library... and select the ITunes folder on the external.
This will use the iTunes library file in the iTunes folder you moved.
Don't change iTunes prefs > Advanced.

No. I have quite a few more 16,000, so I don't manually manage. Making playlists for each device makes things much easier to organize. You can create regular lists of essential tracks and smart playlists to automatically catch new content, top rated, most played etc. If you'd done it this way all along configuring a new or restored device would be the work of moments.

  • How to add a default value in a site column for every item in a document library

    HI
i created a content type with some site columns ,
and included in a Document library.
    Process ( content type)
    -ProcessNo
    -ProcessName
after that i uploaded 100 Documents but not  added value in a site column process name.
now  how i add a default value in a site column for every document in a document library
    adil

    HI
i get below error when i change the script
    PS C:\scripts> C:\Scripts\updatedefaultvalue.ps1
Cannot index into a null array.
    At C:\Scripts\updatedefaultvalue.ps1:8 char:7
    + IF($i[ <<<< "Title"] -eq $null)
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (Title:String) [], RuntimeExce

        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NullArray
    $web = Get-SPWeb http://tspmcwfe:89/
    $list = $web.Lists["test"]
    $item = $list.Items | Where { $_["Name"] -eq "Emc" }
    foreach($i in $items)
    IF($i["Title"] -eq $null)
             $i["Title"] = "test"
           $i.Update()
    adil
Why are you piping a where in the items? Do you only want to add the "test" to ones matching
    a name?
If you have ISE installed on your server I recommend you put your code in there and debug it.
If this is helpful please mark it so. Also if this solved your problem mark as answer.

  • I just deleted and restored iTunes because I had 4 or 5 of each song. After all that I STILL HAVE 4 or 5 of every song. HOW DO I FIX THIS?

I just deleted and restored iTunes because I had 4 or 5 of each song. After all that I STILL HAVE 4 or 5 of every song. HOW DO I FIX THIS? Or do I just stop using iTunes?

Since this a potentially drastic approach I will remind you that at this point you ought to have a complete backup of your library in case things get worse rather than better...
Select the Music source, select all (ctrl-a), delete, DO NOT SEND FILES TO THE TRASH!
Repeat with other media sources if you wish.
Import your media, get it organized, backup again.
I can recall if I've sent you in the direction of this information yet...
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
In the layout above, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. A portable library can be moved from one path to another without breaking the links between the library and the media and being self-contained is much easier to backup
... but if you are going to start over I'd recommend you work with iTunes rather than fighting it. If you want your own folder structure for your media (I know I do, but generally recommend people don't because it is less hassle) then turn off the option under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to Keep the iTunes Media folder organized, but place your structure somewhere inside the iTunes media folder. That way you get the advantages mentioned above and are much less likely to create duplicates by accident again in future.
