Do i have to pay $20 to get my macbook serviced at the store?

my warranty expired and contacting apple support through phone/chat costs me 20 bucks. my issue is that my battery's at 319 recharge cycles and 78% health. i am pretty sure that's a problem because apple promised 80% health at 1000 cycles. i purchased my macbook July 2013 so it's about a year and a month old now.

Apple promised no such thing. Read the Apple advertisement carefully and the operative words are 'up to' not 'will.
You may very well have a defective battery that is under performing prematurely or it may be the result of the way you use your MBP that has resulted in that condition. The battery is the most inconsistent and unreliable component in a MBP.
Do make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be FREE. A new battery may not be free.

Have you checked to see if the deleted file is still in the recycle bin. If so you can restore it and add it back into the library. If it is on an iPod or iOS device it could be transferred back to your library. As Steve says audiobooks from the iTunes store are currently supplied on a one time only basis, unlike most other purchases. Hopefully the position with audiobooks will change too over time. In the meantime you could Contact Support and explain the circumstances surrounding your error. They may be able to grant an exception and resupply your missing audiobook.

Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Books = "On" [Automatic download]
Also make sure your Apple ID is set correctly and logged on at the top of Settings > iTunes & App Stores

Also be aware that the iPhone purchased in the USA will only have warranty service in the USA. Any warranty service will require you to bring it back to USA.

A basic MBA will be more than adequate. Take into consideration that storage may be a long term issue unless you are not averse to traveling with an external HDD.

iWork is universal, so it will work full-res on the iPad. This is true for any app which has the plus sign symbol (in the App Store in iTunes it will say "This app is designed for iPhone and iPad".
