Do I have to pay for Mountain Lion, just bought Lion 2 days ago?

On July 1 I purchased Lion and haven't even gotten it installed yet and just read that Mountain Lion will be released in July. Will Apple offer a free update like they do for people who buy a Mac with Lion after June 11, 2012?
This is what the website says about purchasing a Mac with Lion
The OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date upgrade will be available at no additional charge from the Mac App Store to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012.
Customers must request their Up-to-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchasing their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 11, 2012 and the date when Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the OS X Mountain Lion release date to make a request.
When Mountain Lion becomes available in July, come back to this page for details on how to request your copy of Mountain Lion.

I only bought Lion because my Address Book wouldn't sync after the end of MobileMe Saturday night.
Really Apple sent out notices about this happening for months. And has had Mountain Lion in the works for at least 4 months with notices all over the net that it will be released sometime this summer.
Simple answer is NO you will not be offered a free upgrade.
If you used your CC to purchase it call Apple and ask to return it or contact your CC company and dispute the charge.

  • Bought a new mac last weekend do I have to pay for Mountain Lion

I bought a MacBook Air on Saturday but it didn't have Mountain Lion installed. Do I have to pay for an upgrade?

No, go to http://www.apple.com/osx and then Upgrade and go to the up-to-date program and register your purchase.  You will receive an email with a redemption code to download ML for free.

  • If I upgrade to Lion now will I still have to pay for Mountain Lion?

And if so - does it matter - as it may be a pre-requisit for upgrading in the summer?
I currently have snow leopard, but having recently added an iPad to the family - Lion appears to be a better fit.

Well, its gonna be priced seperately regardless to lion, but if you buy a new mac or macbook pro before a month of its release, you may be entilled for an upgrade for free. This is what apple did last year with new mac owners, otherwise we've to pay or mountain lion.

Glad it worked. Most modern versions of PSE can coexist quite happily, but v2 is pretty old now and I guess it conflicted with 6.
Provided you entered your serial number, the software should be activated. The 'website unavailable' probably relates to the fact that PSE v6 to v10 used to integrate with an Adobe online service called photoshop.com. That was closed down last year, but of course the software still tries to log you in to it. Just ignore the login prompts and carry on using the software.
Current version is v12. Before buying download and install the thirty day trial from Adobe and see if you like it. It is a radical change in interface from v6. If you decide to buy, you will find usually it cheaper from online retailers. You won't need to uninstall the trial, just enter the serial number when the trial expires and it prompts you to register. v12 integrates with Adobe's new online service - Revel.

The mini ipad is pretty slow to download apps although i am using broadband wifi

I responded to your first post and assumed that you didn't have a computer. If I was wrong, I apologize for misreading your question.
Did you totally erase the device and not restore from a backup? If you totally erased the device and set up as new, the passcode should not be on the device.

  • Why do we have to buy mountain lion when we bought lion? Others who didn't purchase lion don't have to pay for it to move to mountain lion

why do we have to buy mountain lion when we bought lion? Others who didn't purchase lion don't have to pay for it to move to mountain lion.

As far as I know the only people not having to pay for Mountain Lion are the ones that have purchased a apple computer after the 4th of june or something. These people get a free upgrade. All others will have to pay for a copy of Mountian Lion.
Do you maybe have a source, which states that others don't have to pay for it, where people that have bought Lion do have to pay?
    With kind regards,
    Wes

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you purchase OS X Mountain Lion, you can install it for free in all your Macs as many times as you want. The same applies to all the content you purchase in the App Store, Mac App Store, iTunes Store and iBookstore

  • Clicked 'X' instead of Install in my App Store, Mountain Lion App disappeared, do I have to pay for it again??? :O :'(

Hello, I have brought the Mountain Lion from the App store, well my father paid for it... But my Mac had some problems so I had to give it to the Apple Help desk in my school. After they have returned it to me, I wated to re-download the mountain lion. I went to the "puchases' in my app store, and BY AN ACCIDENT I clicked the 'x' instead of install. The app disappeared from the list. Can I somehow get it back again without having to PAY for Mountain Lion again?????

  • If I downloan Mac osx lion, does that mean that i will have to pay for Mac osx mountain lion

If I download Mac os x lion, does that mean that i will have to pay for Mac os x mountain lion? or will it be like an upgrade for free?
I am just not to sure as to whether I buy it now or later? Please help.
    Thanks.

If you do not find Lion or Mountain Lion features compelling, I recommend you not buy it AT ALL!
10.6.8 works for most of the stuff I do, and I only got 10.7 to play with it.
    If you are using
    Photoshop CS2
    AppleWorks
    Word 2004 or earlier
    Quicken 2007 or earlier
    Eudora 6
    FileMaker 6
look long and hard at 10.7 -- these Applications along with hundreds of other less-popular titles are no longer supported in these versions!!

  • Is it possible to upgrade to lion or do I have to wait for mountain lion?

Is it possible to  still upgrade to Lion or do I have to wait for Mountain Lion later in July?  I currently have Snow Leopard and upgraded RAM to 4GB on an older iMac Core Duo in order to use iCloud features in Lion.  Also, I'm wanting to upgrade iMovie and iPhoto, but I'm having difficulty finding a download link that will let me do it online without going through the App Store, and it says I need to be running 10.7.  I feel like I'm in an "obsolete" double bind until I upgrade to Mountain Lion and it isn't possible yet.  I'm wanting to use iMovie 8 or higher in order to download AVCHD video.  I just bought a new camera that shoots AVCHD and I can't download any HD video,  nor can I find any of my old video which used to be on iPhoto and would open w/ Quick Time.  User friendly Mac is no longer so intuitive.

Yes, you can purchase Lion as well as iPhoto and iMovie from the App Store. But before you can do that you must update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 by installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Then you can sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password, locate the items you want, purchase them, and download them to your computer.

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
    Click Preferences
    Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
    Incoming Mail Server?
    Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

If that does not solve the issue, I would recommend contacting Apple customer service once they open tomorrow.
