Do I have to pay the upgrade fee if I buy my phone from apple?
I can't find anywhere where the upgrade fee is explained fully. I know if I buy my phone from apple, it is a "verizon" phone -- will they charge me the upgrade fee, will verizon charge it when I activate the phone, or does it not apply if I buy it via the apple store?
If you are buying the phone at full price (or Verizon EDGE), there won't be any upgrade fee. If you are getting a subsidized phone (2-year contract) there will be an upgrade fee.

Why do we have to pay full license fee when upgrading to FMIS 4?
Just tried to order FMIS 4 but it's not possible to upgrade from FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 4. I know it was previously possible to upgrade from streaming editions to FMIS 3.5 and we paid only the upgrade fee (I think $3500) vs the full license fee ($4500). Now it doesn't appear as if we can upgrade from FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 4 and we have to buy a brand new license. Why is this so? If it's not technically possible to upgrade from FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 4 then why can't we at least get a discount for the money we paid on previous version licenses?
I have a few FMSS licenses and I'm choosing not going to upgrade to FMIS 4 because of this.
On a side note, it looks as if it's possible to upgrade FMSS 3.5 to FMIS 3.5 and then FMIS 3.5 to FMIS 4. Of course you pay for two upgrades then.

I would suggest contact the dealer/reseller from whom you got 3.5 and ask him/her the same.

I would like to have the purchased version running on my new Mac and not pay the monthly fee to use Lightroom. I have the product key in an email from when I purchased Lightroom. I also have the trial version of Lightroom installed on my computer but my trial version has expired. How do I validate the Product Key? Start the video and slide all the way to the beginning. If the video isn't in your Movie app, then the rental expired.

I just bought my first iPhone (the 6), and I want to automatically transfer photos from my (and my wife's) iPhone 6, to iPhoto. I am using iPhoto '09 and I believe I have to upgrade it to the latest version to make that happen. I went to the App store to upgrade, but it wants to charge me $14.99. I thought we didn't have to pay for upgrades any longer if we owned a legit previous version (came pre-installed when I bought my Mac in 2009. Can anyone shed any light on this? Or, recommend another app? Thanks.

If you own any version of iPhoto '11 it is a free update - if you own older versions like iPhoto '09 it is a paid upgrade

The full (only) price of Logic X is as staed on the App Store. This price (whether people agree or disagree, like it or not like it) is still less than any upgrade price for any other DAW.
A lot of people here are saying they bought Logic 9 6 months or a year ago and want a cheaper price. For me, I started on Logic 5.5. Logic 6, you could pay an upgrade price that was way over what the full app is now but you had to add costs as things like Space Designer were extra. Their serial numbers, once purchased, got added to you XS Key, which was a dongle that never got hacked in 6 and a half years.
Apple, on acquiring Emagic, dropped the price from $1000 to $499, included all the things you had to pay extra for then dropped the price to what it is now once they went over to the App Store. They also dropped the un-cracked dongle.
So myself and a lot of other people here went 5.5 to 6 (added the goodies that were extra) to 7 to 8 and to 9. When there was an upgrade price, the price was around what the app is now.
I'm amazed at how many people see this as a full price and want money off whereas in reality a complete piece of softwaser is being offered for an upgrade price.
My first paragraph will answer your question and you probably won't care about the rest of the post. $199 or £139 IS an upgrade price. -

I agree with Matthew that I cannot be sure exactly what you are asking.
Generally i regard it as less risk to yourself to schedule and pay Pearson Vue directly.
However if you contact the exam center and get them to schedule for you my understanding is you pay them. Unfortunately there is risk of the exam center overcharging you (99%++ of most most worldwide wont).
The only reasons for doing this I can think of is (there may be more) :-
- is if you do not have credit/debit cards that Pearson Vue would accept.
- The center will accept turn up and schedule and your transport to the exam center might be unreliable and you are worried you might miss the appointment and you are hoping to pay on arrival (some will not accept this). -

Well, as both hardware and software seem to be on an accelerating schedule of renewals, you might never buy a mac on that philosophy!
Apple normally offer a period of grace if an new OS comes out a month or so after a new purchase (i.e., you can get a free upgrade), but longer than that an you have to pay.
Of course, there's no compulsion to upgrade to the new OS just because it exists. Plenty of people are still running Leopard 10.5.8. -

Maybe I've been out of the loop...But i'd really like to know why are users having to pay for it. And at $9.99?I like it how everyone says its an option. I guess living is working on becoming an option. The reality though is far more difficult and easier to understand. An option properly interpreted in this corporate envirornment is we need more money. We have alot, but we need more. Apple is like most of society in marketing itself as a great business for people, but like or more so than M$ they need more. Now M$ charges more for their OS, or did until recently, they also had a business model that was screwy and painful. An OS is something that is required.
The Touch/Phone software 1.0 should have been called a beta the 2.0 was just about there, without cut and paste and 3.0 is really an initial release. While Apple might market it differently now, its not just wallstreet and DC that there is false advertising. Going On.
Now they are saying that 3.0 software is just an option, than it had better never to be included because that reveals its beyond an option, its not a game after all
