Do I have to purchase multiple copies of OSX Lion one for each mac

As OSX Lion is only available as a download, do I have to purchase multiple copies of OSX Lion one for the laptop & one for the desktop?

No, you can use the same copy on your Macs.  Log into the App Store using the Same AppleID.  It will be in the puchased section.  If you're on Snow Leopard, just click install.

I have recently purchased a hybred 750GbHDD as an upgrade for my MAC Book Pro (Intell Version) I have a boot camp partition to the original 500GB HDD. How can I expand both partitions to fit the new drive?
I have tried bootcamp and have had no luck due to the fact that boot camp doesn't see the additional HDD space of 250Gb. What am I not doing?

Ouch, well there is a problem.
This is the stack of partitions on your old drive
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (50GB say)
    Bootcamp (50GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
This is the same stack on your new drive imaged from the old one.
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (50GB say)
    Bootcamp (50GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
    Emtpy Space (100GB say)
    This is what you want
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (100GB say)
    Bootcamp (100GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
EFI has to be at the top of the drive and Lion Recovery has to be at the bottom of the drive.
And you only have four partitions.
You can't move the Lion Recovery Partition or Bootcamp partiton, however you can expand the Lion Partition into empty space below it. (but can't delete or move the Lion Recovery partition)
Your Duplicator duplicated perfectly, too perfectly Likely would work with same sized drives/partitions.
This is what your going to need to do.
You need to move the Bootcamp partition to a blank external drive using WinClone and disconnect. This is so you have two backups of it. (one on your old 500GB drive)
You will need a drive enclousre or IDE/SATA to USB adapter cable for the older 500GB drive and option key boot from it. (some enclosures can't be booted from so check first Other World Computing is good place to ask)
Download the free Carbon Copy Cloner, grab any new files off the new 750GB internal drive to the old 500GB your booted from.
Open Apple's Disk Utility and Erase with Zero option the entire internal 750GB drive and let it rip, this will map off as many bad sectors and improve reliability.
Now use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the 500GB Lion + Lion Recovery Partitions to the internal 750GB, it will "fix" things and place Lion Recovery at the bottom of the drive where it belongs, give all the extra space to OS X Lion.
Next your going to have to follow WinClones instructions to restore your Bootcamp, likely you will have to recreate the Bootcamp partition first (in Bootcamp) to the size you want and then clone. Likely Winclone may "fix" Windows to recognize it's in a new larger partition now. I don't know you'll have to check as I haven't used it.
When Bootcamp creates the partition it will place it near the bottom next to the Lion Recovery Partition.
As you know you will have to re-validate Windows with Lord Redmond or it expires as you changed the hardware.

  • Can I use one purchase of Acrobat on more than one computer? I work on a desk top, lap top, and netbook.  Do I have to purchase multiple copies or what?  (PS -- If I start with a free trial download, how long can it be used for?)

How many times can I use Acrobat Pro on my three compters -- the desk top, lap top, the net book.  Do I have to make multiple purchases?

    Hi markala,
As per the End User License Agreement a single purchase of retail license for Acrobat is good for 2 computers.
If you want to install it on 3 machines you need to procure a volume license.

  • How do I purchase multiple copies of the same title for my class of students to download?

I need to purchase 60+ copies of the same title to use in my classroom. Normally my school purchases paperback copies of books, but now that I all of my students have iPads, I would like to purchase the eBook and then have them download it. Any ideas on how best to do this?

    What version of iPhoto?
The general process is to select the photo and print, select the printer, paper size and print size and click customize and under settings selec multiples copies of a photo (the preview will reflect this choice) and click print to print, make any printer specific selections and click print to print

  • Can i download multiple copies of mountain lion to my other mac's?

I purchsed a copy of Mountain lion from the app store and downloaded it to my laptop.  my son purchased a copy of it and downloaded it to his laptop...it made me think that maybe....just maybe i don't have to purchase 3 other copies for each of our family's apple computers and laptops....any insight oh great and powerful community? and if i can do it, how do you do it....

You can use the same OS X Mountain Lion copy you purchased in all your Macs with your Apple ID. If your family members use your Apple ID, you can download OS X Mountain Lion for free on all of them to install it. To save time, download it in one Mac, copy the installer to an external disk or USB drive and use it to install Mountain Lion on all the computers.
However, if those computers are using a different Apple ID, you have to purchase OS X Mountain Lion on each Apple ID in order to upgrade all of them legally. Also, if you don't do this, you will have problems reinstalling OS X Mountain Lion

  • How to purchase multiple copies of the same song for different people?

I am planning a children's musical and wanted to know how to handle this situation. Say I wanted 30 copies of a song to put on CD's for the kids to take home and practice. How do I handle that purchase? I want to legally be able to make 30 copies of a song for 30 different children. Where do I start? Thanks!

If you are in the USA and are using the songs as part of a non-profit educational institution, the rules governing the use of copyrighted material are different from other uses. Do a web search on the "Technology, Education and Copyright Harmonization Act of 2001," also known as the TEACH Act, or ask the legal advisor of your school.

  • Can I purchase multiple copies of the same song

I want to purchase multiple copies of the same song to avoid copyright issues if I make a mixed cd and give it away.

As above, Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library, however it is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve/merge ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

  • Using an iTunes card to purchase multiple copies of an ITunes item

Does anyone know of a way to purchase multiple copies of an app using an iTunes card for a single account?  I know that Apple offers a volume purchasing program however all items are not available in the program such as books and videos.  I am open to legal suggestions if this is not possible.

The MAS is a complete mess for non-individual purchases. I handle most of the Apple purchase orders at my college and for digital distribution via the MAS the key is number is a quantity of 20 or more.
First of all, you should have some kind of contact within Apple's NZ Education Sales department. If not, you should find out who that is.
For FCPX, if you need three copies, you need to create three individual Apple IDs and make three separate purchases. This is absolutely asinine, but that's how it's setup. Even better, in America, there's no way to become tax exempt, so they charge us tax and then we have to request a refund, where they then mail us a paper check.
If you want 20 or more copies of anything, I contact my Edu sales rep and get a quote for it, then we pay via purchase order. Then we receive an E-Mail with individual MAS redemption codes for the number of licenses we ordered. Then you just redeem one code, download the app, and deploy it out, either through ARD (Apple Remote Desktop), or however else you want to.
So in summary, try to order 20 or more of anything. Once you hit 20 there's a price break of roughly 50% and your Apple NZ Edu sales rep should have a PDF of their Edu product matrix pricing. If you order less than 20 of a product, it's a huge pain in the ***. Establish one centralized MAS Apple ID, or at least one per dept. For example: [email protected] (music dept's redemption account). Redeem one code for whatever App you've purchased, deploy the rest out however you prefer and just keep track of the amount of licenses you've used vs. the amount you've ordered.

If you mean the DL appears to be stalled give it about half an hour, if there's no movement restart and the DL should pick up from where it left off.

  • Do i have to store multiple variations of the SAME number for caller id to work properly?

i am in trinidad and tobago, using the TSTT/bmobile network. i have a brand new factory unlocked iphone4 from the UK.
all my contacts are stored as +1868XXXXXXX.
with sms, i get the name matched to caller id.
with calls however i'm having a problem. carriers in my country send the caller id for incoming calls randomly in several different formats (+1868XXXXXXX; 1868XXXXXXX, 868XXXXXXX; or XXXXXXX).
does this mean that i must have all four variotions of the same number saved for EACH contact???
why doesn't the iphone match the numbers backwards like almost EVERY other phone that i have owned in the past?
is there no other solution to this problem? from what is posted in the article below, it seems like only solution #4 works:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2326
i've read that there is a 'jailbreak fix'. i don't even know what jailbreaking means, but is that the only option that i have to explore?
this is a SERIOUS shortcoming of this phone. has anyone found any other solution to this problem?

    jasonnPOS,
you seam to have had the exat same problem I am having now. Have you solved it?
The link you send in your post :
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2326
As I think you already noticed doesn't solve the problem it merly duplicates the numbers in each contact. One with +and country code and one without that...
There has to be another solution...

  • I have an ipad and just bought a second one for my daughter and she wants all my music on her ipad.  We both have our own itunes accounts and music match wont let me put music on hers. how do i get around this?

I have an ipad and just bought a second one for my daughter and she wants all my music on her ipad.  All the music is under my itunes account yet she has her own itunes account so she can have her own apps and purchase apps with gift cards (She's only 9)
I subscibe to music match under my account but it wont let me put my music on her ipad under hers or even my itunes account.  I get some sort of 90 day error message.  How do i get around this so I can let her have my music on her ipad?

iTunes Match is not sharable across Apple IDs. The best way to get the music on her iPad is to leave hers signed into her Apple ID on the iTunes Store and sync via USB.

  • I own and work on two Mac computers.. a MacBook Pro and an iMac. Am I required to "purchase" the one-time in-App purchase of $4.99 TWICE, one for each computer..??

I own and work on two Mac computers.. a MacBook Pro (dual core, 3.06GHz, 8 GBs RAM) and an iMac ((dual core, 3.06GHz, 4 GBs RAM). Am I required to "purchase" the Garageband one-time in-App purchase of $4.99 TWICE, one for each computer..??

The answer to your question is not about the GarageBand content but the concept of downloading any apps (or in-apps purchases) from the app store. The Key is your Apple ID.
Whenever you download an app (it doesn't matter if you pay for the app or if it is free) you have to to be logged in to the App Store with a valid Apple ID. That becomes your "Online License". Whenever you are logged in to the App Store with that Apple ID you will see your Purchase History, what apps you downloaded and also what apps have updates available. As you see, this procedure is independent from your actual computer. The App Store is only interested in your Apple ID for verification.
To download an app or content on a different computer, just make sure you are logged in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you did for the initial purchase.
The button will now display (instead of Free or the price tag) "Install" because the App Store knows that you purchased the item before (with that Apple ID) and that you computer you are on at the moment oesn't have th app installed. Just click the "Install" button to download the app.
Here is how the Button looks like depending on the condition.
The same principle applies to in-app purchases. With GarageBand, when you try to restore Purchases, make sure you are logged in in the Apple Store with the Apple ID you made the original purchase.
One more thing: You don't need to be logged in to actually run an app, only for online activities (downloads, updates)
    Hope that helps
