I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro. Downloaded Mountain Lion. Could no longer send mail messages. Checked my Mail preferences and they were correct. Icalled my ISP and they tried to help make it work by setting some new preferences Did not work. Took Mac Book Pro into ISP to see if they could remedy the problem. They could not. Still cannot send messages. The only thing I did from when mail could send mail and when it could not was to download Mountain Lion on to both computers. Help!
Just realised that with the SSL checked in the smtp set up, password authorisation is required and is put in the box immediately under the SSL checkbox, which is under the port(s) being used. Can now send mail:)

I recently purchased the Mt. Lion upgrade and have tried to download the system software but each time, there was a problem. The first was an error message 404, and I had to retry downloading. The second time it downloaded to the halfway point and then stopped. The third time I continued to wait for the downloading process to begin and it never did.

You need to either buy and install Mac OS X 10.8 from the Mac App Store, or purchase an iWork 09 DVD, or use a product such as OpenOffice instead of Keynote.

Hi, the last install dvd that came out for mac's was Snow Leopard,10.6.3. Lion is a download from apple. You cannot just install it over Yosemite. You would have to backup your drive to save files you want and do a clean install. You might want to look into getting more memory. I tried downloading the Lion 10.7 software and contacted customer support thinking I needed an upgrade to a higher processor speed.
He stated I needed to download using an eternet cable rather than wireless.
So, I connected the cables and the software upgrade which I paid for began to download.
He stated it would takle about 2 - 3 hours for the download to complete. Somehow the download is paused, no pun intended,
and I cannot get the paused to un pause.
I logged onto my account and the apple store doesn't have a record of the transaction.
So, how do I download the software I paid for?

Camera Raw will not install on my mac,os 10.7.5. When I click on the install package the main install screen opens and that is as far as I can proceed with the down load. I have to force quit the software and try again. I have deleted and downloaded the software several times to no avail. I need some help.
Appreciate your help Ian and others. I have since uninstalled FCS and reinstalled FCXP only to get the same thing. Loading FCXP stalls at "Looking for Compressor Support". When I first downloaded FCXP from the App store I didn't notice that FCS was being placed in it's own folder. It's not something I did manually. Although moved into it's own folder with FCXP on the same drive. I was not able to open FCS apps. They would load and then "quit unexpectantly". They opened just fine before I downloaded FCXP. Do I need to purchase Compressor so that FCXP recognizes it? It seems this is where it stalls. It doesn't explain however why my computer "FREEZES" while doing this. I am in the process of re-installing Lion to see if this helps, otherwise I am at a complete loss.

Which version of iPhoto do you have? You need iPhoto '11 (version 9) to be able to use full screen mode. Some earlier versions of iPhoto will run under Lion, but only those applications built specifically to take advantage of Lion's full-screen feature can do so.

Software update requested while downloading the Lion update
Right now I'm downloading the Lion update to my MacBook [w/ snow lep] - suddenly the software update check started and then says there are new updates available to download that will require a restart. Because I'm still downloading Lion from the app store I canceled these. Sound right? Or are these updates required parts of the Lion upgrade process that I should go forward with even though they will require a reboot - probably before the Lion download from the app store is finished? [I'm in Shanghai right now and the download is taking hours]. A bit confusing. Oh yes, I have previously upgraded Snow Leopard to the latest version ready for the Lion update.
They will be iTunes and other updated Apps for Lion.
You can ignore them and run them once you have Lion up and sorted. -
I have tried to download the book, How Jesus became God" by Bark Ehrman. Even though IBook states download and I have the icon for the book in my library when I try to open the book I get the message, " It is formatted incrrectly, or is not a format that iBooks can open". This is even though I purchased the book through IBooks and the IOS is adequate.

I recently purchased a Canon 7D. I own Adobe Photoshop/Bridge CS5. I cannot open my raw images in Bridge. I have tried to download the plug in but does not seem to work. Please Help, I need to be able to open my raw images in Bridge ASAP. I do not want to upgrade to CS6 at this time.

I have tried to download the update for itunes several times. Each time it get to the installation part and stall and then reverses and give me an erorr message. My current version when I open it, it says there is an error and I will not be able to download a CD into itunes, although I have completed several CD downloads.
Go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and download the full installer. Run the installer and you will be up-to-date. Sometimes the updater just gets in a weird state...
