Do I have to run Apps in b/round? - How to "Close an App" quickly?

1. Is there any way to "toggle off" background Apps? I have no need to keep newspapers, books, games, etc running in the back only to have to "Double tap the home button, hold the icon till it wiggles, tap the negative sign, close the bottom panel" - useless wate of time.
2. If no, any shorter way to close an app other than the method described above?
How about just flick up on the Home screen to get to the running apps bar (what do you call that bar anyway?) instead of having to click the home button twice?
(You wouldn't believe how much noise that stupid button makes when it clicks when your partner is sleeping and you are reading in bed!)
3. At the very least can't Apple just make the background Apps already have the little negative sign on them when they come up (like the close program "x" PC programs now have)? It would at least save the "hold till it wiggles step".
4. Don't even get me started on the Mute button that only mutes system sounds (which I have turned off anyway) yet makes be do a whole bunch of steps to be able to screen lock! Can you say "user selectable function"?

And unnecessary. Maybe once/week you would want to enter the multitasking tray just in case you have a thousand or so apps in the background.

Again, there's no reason to close an app.

I have to repeat that there's no reason to close an app.

I don't have the time to give all the reasons why that would be undesirable.

Don't get me started regarding an issue where Apple did exactly what I had hoped they would do.

  • How to close iOS7 apps?

Prior to iOS7 you simply double clicked the home button to show open Apps and you could then close them all down.  That doesn't seem to happen with iOS7.  Any idea how to close open Apps?
    ... The learning curve beings

    Thanks ...
That's what I was trying, but I guess I was doing so to quickly.  Once I slowed down they finally moved.  Now ... if the former Apps wouldn't crash I'd be all set, ROFL.  Going to be a learning curve for the developers as well I think.

  • Apps run automatically - turn off? How to close app w/out Close option?

I am running two apps I want to close and only run when I choose them.
One (The Missing Sync) at least has a Close option, which works. So I can at least get that out of my running apps list.
The other (Funambol Sync) doesn't even have a Close option!
When I do a battery pull, BOTH run automatically so they're back in memory!
    1) How do I control which apps run automatically after a battery pull?  If I can keep them from re-running, at least I can control my memory by doing a battery pull.
    2) Any ideas on how to close Funambol Sync or any other app that has no "Close" option on its menu? I've put in a messsage to those guys but no answer so far.

I have been told that BB does not have a central place where all auto-run apps are listed/controlled.
Apparently each app does its own specification re auto-running, and so must be controlled one-by-one.
For at least one of these (Funambol Sync), the only option finally available was to just delete it, which is what I did. As long as the other one "plays nice", it can stay!

    CLOSING APPS
Double tap the home button then on the multitasking ribbon at the bottom of the screen hold one of the app icons until a minus sign appears and then tap the minus sign for all the apps you want to close.  When done tap home button once. There are some misconceptions that open apps consume battery power. This is generally incorrect. Read: http://speirs.org/blog/2012/1/2/misconceptions-about-ios-multitasking.html
For iOS 7 double tap home button and then swipe up on the previews of the apps you want to close and then tap the preview of the home or the home button once when finished closing apps.

You still double-click the home button to open the multitasking bar, but you now drag or swipe the app 'screens' up from there and off the top of the screen :

  • I' ve just got an ipad (the new ipad) as a gift. It's a new one but Unfortunately, i found out that it doesn't have the App Store install. How to install the app? Please advice.

I just got an ipad (retina display) as a gift. But unfortunately it doesn't have the App Store application installed. How to imstall it. Then i asked the IT to help me to find the solutions. They asked me to RESET the ipad. I tried to reset the ipad but it request 4 letters of password which i'm puzzled coz i don't even create any password yet in this ipad. So how to get the password? Can some one help me to solve this problems. Thanks.

Your best bet is to contact Apple.  Those conditions should not occur with a new unit.
I do suggest that you read Chapters 1, 2, and 3.
If you wish to troubleshoot on your own...
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
