Do I have to update my iPhone?
Hello folks, Everytime I do an upgreade on my iphone I regret it. Right off, minutes later, things that were working fine no longer work! I am by no means a teck geek, rather a 54 year old man who's cell phone provider rammed this "iphone" down my throat! I run a business, of course by no means as successful as apple, but when I do an update, as the phone pesters me to do, boom, it's like learning to use the dern thing all over. This time around my mail no longer works? Worked fine prior to update. Not that use the mail on this over rated peice of crap due to no spam restraints, I dread opening the app and only do so when I have to. Why I pay for that service, qut frankly eludes me. But I must confess, when I need to access my e-mail on the run, it has been handy, but time consummng... weeding throught the spam. After this last upgrade, my mail no longer works. On a good note, My contract is about up on this phone, 1 more month. Still wish I could get to my email conviently as promiced by not only sprint, but AT&T... oh I meant Apple as well. Apple, AT&T, are they the same company under different names?
Spam filtering is set by your email provider, not the device.
ATT and Apple are separate companies, suggesting otherwise is plain ignorance.
No one forces you to update.
You are free to ignore updates and suffer the consequences.

Hey you all, I have recently updated me iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1 and I checked my reminders built in app, and it seems like everything I had in there was lost. I have tried many things, but none seems to work. I can no longer add in any remainders.
Have you failed to regularly backup the device to iTunes or iCloud? If so, the data is gone.
If there are backups, restore the most current one from prior to the data disappearing. -
I have just updated my iphone 4s with ios7. Since then i cannot play movies from my netflix app using my av cable to tv. which i baught from an apple store. i get a message saying turn off mirroring on airplay. i dont have airplay or an apple TV. what can i do?

hope this message finds you all in time. The recent Apple TV update 5.1 is terrible. Apple knows it is which is why (thankfully for some relentless user -I have no idea who but I believe it was under threat) they have allowed to sign 5.0.2 again which means you can downgrade your Apple TV 2 and 3 to a 5.0.2 version via iTunes. Who knows how long they will keep the window open but I have downgraded my ATV early this morning. I couldn't post this earlier because I was out all day but I am doing it now.
Here's how to do it:
1) Connect your ATV to your computer via a Mini USB (not included with ATV but included with many other electronic devices) - in order for your ATV to appear in iTunes you must FIRST plug the USB cable to your computer and ATV and only THEN plug the power cable.
2) Download your ipsw restore file from Apple.
5.0.2 (ATV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3) In iTunes select yout ATV, hold SHIFT and click on Restore
4) Find and choose the downloaded IPSW file in the Open Dialog Box and hit Next
5) As long as Apple still signs that version the Restore process will begin and will take a few minutes to complete.

Try a Hard Reset,
press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
if that doesnt work you may need to do a restore

I have problems updating my iphone 4 to ios 7.0.6. Everything seems ok, it is downloading, installing and restarting but it is still ios 7.0.4 on the phone. No error messages, everything seems ok. What is wrong?
I've never seen this. Try updating via iTunes on your computer. Plug it in and see if iTunes says it needs updating.

I have recently updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.0.2 but wi-fi is still slow. It takes a lot of time to download the files. But web browsing is OK. I have downloaded an app size 8 MB but it take around 15 minutes on my wifi. Please help Apple.
I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again. -
I have recently updated m iPhone 4 which was not used since months. It has to be updated from5.1.4 to iOS 7.0.4 and it has taken more than 15 hours to get started. Plz help me. It took about 5 to 6 hrs to prepare for updating.
I am having this problem. At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2. I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps. I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them. The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage. It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup. With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up. The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete. This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems. -

When going to your software updates on your device it will provide you with the latest available update for your device.
the iPhone 4 will update to iOS 7.0.4 provided all other updates the device is asking for has been completed.

There are many things you can try:
-Turn the phone off, then turn it on again.
-Use a different charger cable
-Update iTunes (if you don't have the latest version)
-Reinstall iTunes
If nothing works, you should contact Apple or make a Genius Bar appointment.
