Do i loose data if installing 10.6.3 into 10.4.11

anyone there?

Hello,
Normally you would not lose anything, by default it does what we used to call an Archive & Install, to be safer do this first...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X 10.6 Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

i want to take back up of my macbook . so i have external hard disk around 1 tb and already have 230 used ...when i transfer manually with out time machine ....because i want to tranfer into windows .....so how to change ntfs into fat32 without loosing data in external harddisk ?

You don't have to change NTFS to FAT.
Just install Paragon NTFS and you'll be able to transfer your data to your external HDD even if it is NTFS.

    Hey floridiansue,
Do you have an installed email program such as Microsoft Outlook?  If your email is through an online login, such as Gmail, etc, then one will have to create an email association with a program such as Microsoft Outlook on the PC for this Scan to Email system to function.

  • Garage Band looses data!!!

    Hi all,
Since about 2-4 month my Garage band looses data, when saving a project. This includes booth, system loops, imported mp3s and recorded data. When taking a lock into the project folder xxxxxx.band the subfolder "Media" is emty. Unfortunately it does not help to make regulary backups, because you can not recognise when Garageband starts to loose data. This data loss occurs after saving the project and leaving the softwware. When reopening it, you cannot find about 2/3 of the project any more. This seems to bee abitrary which tracks are lost. Exporting on disc and iLife preview works before closing the project.
You can also see the data loss in the GUI: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3739719/Bildschirmfoto%202010-11-26%20um%2011.29.22.png
I hope somebody can help me. I like my Garage Band very much, but in the current state ist sems to be unuseable.
    My system is:
    MacBook4,1
    Mac OS X 10.6.5 (10H574)
    iLife09
best regards, hoping for some solution,

Have you restarted the Mac after downloading the in-app purchase?
After you installed then-app purchase, you should see the additional lessons in the Lesson Store for download. They will not appear directly in the "Lear to Play" section. You have to download them as well.
In the "Lesson Store" window, check, if your account is set correctly, and if the country is correct.

  • How do i pgrade my os without loosing data or using extra hdd? Thanks

How do i pgrade my os without loosing data or using extra hdd? Thanks

Yes, you can do that, but it is inadvisable to do so without a safety backup. But that's your choice, which means there is no guarantee you won't have a problem.
    First thing you should do:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

    Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.
It says my phone can only be set up woth one itunes account. How do I remove the previous account?
No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.

  • I lost all personal data while installing maverick in external drive. How can I recover lost data?

I lost all personal data while installing maverick in external drive. How can I recover lost data?

If all your files are missing
You may have logged in as a different user, such as Guest. Open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. Your name should be at the top of the user list, under Current User. See also this support article.
If files are missing from one folder
Change the Finder view mode; for example, from icon view to list view, or vice versa.

  • How to convert NTFS external hard drive to FAT32 without loosing data?

New mac user. How to convert NTFS external hard drive to FAT32 without loosing data?

You have to off load and backup then.
    don't have backup drive ?
    Get one.
Want another option? Paragon NTFS for OS X will provide write function to your drive, works with the most PC cases and drives (not all NTFS drivers for OS X do) and does so with fast I/O and low overhead.
Not sure about using Seagate GoFlex as I seem to recall a number of threads reporting problems.
Windows can do a convert -fs to NTFS just never tried the reverse from NTFS to FAT32 but I would not use FAT. I'd either erase and reload and use as Mac HFS Extended; or if you actually do need to use it with a PC user running Windows, the driver would be handy and better.
Or your PC w/ Windows there are HFS drivers for Windows to mount and WRITE to a Mac formatted drive under Windows. There MacDrive has more and better support feature set.

What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

  • Loose data

    Hello,
I acquire data from 2 device 6025E by sharing the scan clock. But I have some problem to save data on DIADEM.
I loose datas. For example, with a test during 2mn30, I have only a duration of 2mn15 on DIADEM. Moreover, I loose data during all the test not only at the beginning or at the end.
I think it s a problem with the buufered acquisition but I don t know why.
To have an acquisition at 1000 Hz, my parameters are scan rate 1000, buffer size 10000 and Number of scan to read 1000.
I joined my VI in file attachements.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Are you losing data if you save the file as a comma separated file as well? From your program I can see that you can select if you want to store the results in DIAdem format or in text format.
It seems to me that the problem is related to the way you are acquiring data. You are doing a buffered finite acquisition in a loop. A better option will be to do a continous acquisition so there won't be gaps between loop iterations. I highly recommend you check the example built in LabVIEW Cont Acq&Chart (Buffered.

  • How do I update I pad on a new computer without loosing data. Old computer got virus and it's got my I tunes account on it.

How do I update I pad on a new computer without loosing data. Old computer got virus and it's got my I tunes account on it.

You simply sync the iPad to the new computer. It will tell you that it is already synced with another one though, and will give you the option to erase it or transfer its contents to the new one. An iPad can only be synced with one computer at a time.
Beware that only your iTunes and App Store purchases will sync. If your iTunes library contained music obtained from other sources, you have to find a way to transfer them directly from your sick computer to the new one.
I hope your new computer is a Mac, a replacement PC will eventually suffer the same fate.

  • Photos deleted a ton of photos (several events/categories/albums in iPhoto). I have backups on Time Machine but I can't go back further than the date I installed Photos, even though backups are there. Anyone have any ideas?

I have been looking forward to an improvement to iPhoto but have found Photos to be worse than useless, unfortunately. It uses all my resources, crashes and freezes constantly. Not only that, the events/albums/categories I have spent countless hours sorting have been completely eliminated. Without this, the app is of no use to me. So, fine, I'll revert to iPhoto, but a ton of my photos are now missing. It shouldn't be a big deal, because I use Time Machine regularly, but Time Machine won't let me restore any time past the date I installed the OS update (the backups are there). Any suggestions?

Your Time Machine backup lets you go back to directly the moment after you upgraded to MacOS X 10.10.3?  There must have been some interval between the upgrade and the first launch of Photos.
Try, if you can see the original iPhoto Library in the first backup.  Directly after the migration it will have a filename extension ".migratedphotolibrary", but this library should still work with iPhoto, nothing changed but the extension.

  • Will I loose data if I delete ios 7

Well Apple is now using Microsoft's business model of launching new platforms before they work.  iOS 7 is a disaster on many levels; i. e. many functions as basic as blue tooth no longer function, Evernote app problems, UGLY, and no easy solutions to anything.  It makes me wish I had NOT singed a contract on a iPhone 5.  How can I get rid of the new iOS 7 without loosing data?  When I read the forums it seems way too complicated and there are horror stories about lost data which I cannot afford to do.  What a mess you guys are making of the Apple brand and reputation.

You cannot downgrade the OS without breaking the system and your warranty. Period. That's the way the cookie crumbles and the way it will crumble until Apple says otherwise. So, like all of us users, either learn how the new system works and how to do things in this new World Order, or use your freedom to move on to another platform.

I now have an iphone4s, my old iphone4 is still listed as being backed up in may, can I delete this or will I loose data from my 4s?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can delete that backup. You won't lose anything, as it's from an old iPhone and you are not taking files from that backup because your iPhone is being backed up to a different backup
