Do I lose High resolution video signal when I capture through FireWire?

I have being reading that capturing through Aja Kona video card is an uncompressed video capture. does it mean, I lose some part of my HD resolution video signal when I capture it through fire wire? Could somebody explain me? Thanks.

No, capturing DV or HDV via firewire is a bit for bit transfer of the original recording ... zero loss.

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.

In iMovie, why do I get the msg "high resolution video thumbnails" and it automatically goes to Now and the laptop is hung up for a very long time and I have to shut down to get out of it?

So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

No video signal when connecting Blu Ray player

I have a new blu ray player and HDMI cable. It will play just fine when connected to little cheap TV but my large Toshiba will just show No video signal when I try to connect it and use it. I have tried everything, read the whole manual, searched online help, called the support phone number which just directed me back to the online support. Nothing has helped.
Also when using my old DVD player with the 3 component cables, I never get any color, just black and white picture.

The TV likely has a shared video input. You need to tell it in the settings whether you're using a composite or component device. If you have a composite device connected and the TV thinks it's a component device, it'll show up in black and white. What model number is your TV? I'll tell you change the setting once I know what TV you have.
Also, to what specific port is the new Blu-ray player connected?

i have a toshiba regza, model 42rv530u. i am getting the same unsupported video when i try to play games or some videos. i have made sure my resolution is set with the tv but noticed my video card is not reconnizeing the tv , has it listed as unidentafied monitor. i had down loaded a driver for a older pc to this tv a few yrs back . the pc i'm hook up to now is new. can anyone point me to a down load for this tv . Thx

I think the problem is the RESOLUTION of the TV when used as a monitor. My first computer connected had the highest resolution of 1280x1024, 60Hz -- but the options I was able to get from the Toshiba TV were different.
Strangely enough, if I connect a normal 2nd monitor, I will get an image on the Toshiba TV and can use it as a computer monitor. But if I disconnect that 2nd monitor it goes back to saying: 'Unsupported video signal.'
I wish there was a way to set the pc/computer resolution for the Toshiba TV through it's menu...
Still can't get it to work by itself.

Hello, I have some ultra-45's with the sun xvr-300 video adapter. Loads and boots fine, but after login doing a init 0, the systems looses it's video signal. If I do a boot without seeing the output the system reboots. Also at the login screen, if I try to do a console login, the screen goes away for a few seconds then comes back to the same login screen.
This all worked on solaris 10 11/06, but having problems with 10 08/07 release.
any help would be appreciated.

"No Video Signal" when trying to watch with HDMI

Hi,
I connect my laptop with HDMI cable to Philips 47 to its HDMI port.
I get "No Video Signal" message.
Is there any driver I should download? Or any other solution?

High resolution video compression.

I'm trying to compress a music video I shot through quicktime, and am not sure if I'm using the correct codec, (apple pro-res 422, 1280x720) When I do export the film, the quality is spectacular, but it won't export the entire video, just 3 of 6 minutes. Also, there are glitches in the footage.
It will be going on the internet, but I was also planning on showing on a larger tv screen. What am I doing wrong?

You might as well take a chain saw to your lens before you shoot next time. Putting any sort of video into a DV sequence to edit takes a big crap on any expected quality. Always use a sequence setting that exactly matches your source footage.
And in the future, use ProRes instead of AIC, to shorten your render times and allow more RT.
- Although I've tried changing my sequence setting numerous times, I get the same results with the final product. So I returned to my default settings.
Getting the footage to compressor, I've tried exporting it through compressor right from fcp, that's when I see the horizontal lines
I've tried exporting through quicktime, and that's just poor quality, low resolution.
I've also tried to export the file via quicktime, then bring it back into compressor, quality is better but the horizontal lines appear again,
You're getting interlace problems. Read up on upper field vs. lower field and interlace vs. progressive.

N8: high definition video slowed when played on PC

Yesterday I shot a 1,5 min film in high definition with my N8 and that's the odd: when played by the N8 player itself it's absolutely ok, when played by (after uploading to) my desktop's WMP, well has a correct audio but a slower than real video, so the audio and the video soon become out of synch and the audio ends , of course, some seconds before the video.
Any idea?

Ok, self-reply: it's my Desktop not able to play hd movies correctly. Actualy I tried on a fairly "old" Windows XP Pentium 4 desktop.
Played by mi new win 7 laptop it's ok...
@yunez: no, played by the phone itself the hd movies are smooth
As for youtube, I had youtube streams problem with the google youtube app (the stream was faster than the cache could ) till I set wi-fi power saving on off. Since then, it's all ok.

[Solved] Higher resolution video windows go out of desktop in Openbox

Hi! My monitor supports resolution upto 1366x768. But as you can see in the screenshot, videos and images that have greater resolution than that go out of the desktop in Openbox. I tried setting scaling mode with xrandr (I tried "Full", "Full aspect", and "Center") but it didn't help. I'm sorry I do not know a technical way to describe it but it looks just as the screenshot.

Firstly, you shouldn't post full size images. That's against the forum rules and you're likely going to get that pic snipped with a kind note from a moderator if you haven't already by the time I post this.
Secondly, I fixed this issue with vlc by unchecking the box under preferences>interface resize window to video size.

H215 Loses the analog video signal after a few minutes after start up.

After Windows 7 is loaded and about 30 minutes to an hour of normal screen and computer usage, the display goes black and my Viewsonic monitor says that the analog signal is missing and then goes into power save mode. Why is this happening? And the only way to resume the use of the computer is to force shut down the tower and then to power it back on. Which then runs through the failed start because I had to force shut down the system due to the display losing its signal. Please assist in this matter. I just bought the system a few days ago and for it to be doing this is quite dissatisfying. Thanks.

First of all, sorry for this frustrating issue. The first thing to check with OS X Mavericks or Yosemite is the permissions of your Adobe folders. Here is blog post to check out: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
The other thing I'm curious about is ProRes and if Premiere is handling it properly. Tell me, do you have Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X, iMovie, or any of the Apple video products installed? Do you have any components in your Mac HD > Library > QuickTime?

No video signal when turn on hp e9237

Just turned on computer, fan runs, led light on, no signal on HP2709m moniter. Moniter working. Tried DVI VGA and HDMI connectors, no result. Suggestions?

At least the monitor is responding. Now, if the monitor is attached to the HD card, you need to remove that card, and attach the monitor cabling to the motherboard. (see photo of choices mentioned above by old_geekster).

"No Video" error when Batch Capturing

I am getting a new error that I have not seen before when using Batch Capture in FCP. It cues the tape, starts the pre-roll and then spits out an error message that there is "no video". Of course, there is video.
The same thing does not happen when capturing one clip at a time nor does it happen if you capture live (hitting Capture "Now" in L&C window).
Any thoughts?

I also don't want to keep paying $23 a month for software that is not 100%.
Software as complex as Premiere Pro will never be 100% bug free.
I'm also inclined to believe this is more of a system issue than a PP issue. I don't recall other reports of this nature, and it works fine on my own system.
The only other thing I can think of to suggest is another FireWire port, possibly by adding a FireWire card to the system. I've read that the chip makes a difference, so research over in the Hardware forum.

huh! what do you mean you receive a radio signal?
the wireless signal between your computer/router and airport express is digital. in no way this signal could be mixed with an audio radio signal. if you have wireless interference you will experience music drop out.
you get a radio signal, you probably have to review your audio connection. how are you setup from the 1/8" audio jack of the airport express to your audio system?

Videos freezing when streaming from router

When i stream higher resolution videos to my TV or PC, from the usb stick attached to my router(linksys EA4500). The videos freeze, then playes again, then freeze, etc. I have no problem with lower res. videos or music. Could there be a firmware update to solve this problem, or is it a hardware issue?

I see. It is better to connect your TV to the 5 ghz network if the TV can see it. 5 ghz is designed for video streaming. Since your accesing or viewing high resolution vidoes from the Virtual USB, the TV should be connected to that network. What firmware are you using? Are you using the Classic Firmware or the Cloud Firmware?
