Do I lose messages in Nokia Suite when re-syncing?

Hello,
I would kindly need some help with the following problem: I last did a messages sync in May, with Nokia Suite so I would like to do a new one. Meanwhile, in October, I accidentally deleted a conversation from my phone, which is luckily stored (up to May) with Nokia Suite. The question is: if I do a sync now, will that  conversation overwrite the previous one or will it add to it?
Or, to be more specific: if I do a sync now, will I still have the messages up to May PLUS the ones from October on? Or will I only get the ones from October on and lose the ones already synced, since that is the actual conversation existing on my phone?
Thanks for your help!

All the Messsages that were previously synced will remain intact. The 'new' sync will Add to the earlier list ...

  • N97 disconnects from Nokia Suit when battery is fu...

My N97 connects fine to Nokia Suit as long as the battery requires charging, once the charge light indicator goes out, nokia suit is disconnected and will not connect via USB no mater what.
I get the ping pong sound when USB is connected but no announcement on N97 to select connection type.
Run down the battery and everything is perfect.
Its a windows 7 PC and the same problem is apparent at my office and home.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Oh okay.
Is there a way to access the hard drive of the phone without it turning on? There's photos, video clips and texts I'd like to save.
Or is the harddrive fried too? If say the phone was to be repaired, would they have to replace everything internally? ie, more or less end up with a new phone anyway?
    Thanks.

  • Nokia Suite will not sync categories in Outlook

This seems a pretty big fail but having changed from an HTC phone using active sync I didn't have any issues with data being sync'd between phone & PC.
Now with a Nokia E72 and the latest suite S/W installed I've found that categories are not being transfered.
It causes me a problem because for years I've used a few categories to label contacts (business/personal etc) to make it easy to change & update things. Also in calendar I use categories to tag and colour entires to make the whole things work easier for me.
Now with a new phone & laptop I sync'd the new phone to the desktop and then the phone to the laptop like I did when I got the HTC and a new laptop previously. Took a few tries but evenually everything copied over but categories is missing.
The Nokia E72 does not seen to support categories in calendar or contacts, is this the cause of the problem?
Is there a work round, this is a real pain and to be honest I'll change the phone if I can't get this to work.
    Any help anyone can offer?

    Still strugling with this... (
The phone will sync with the exchange server with no problems but I can't get the USB sync to work on the home PC that runs outlook 2007. I want to be able to sysnc the two PC's to keep both contacts and calendars in sync with each other.
What I found is that information on the phone calendar is not updating to the PC????
Installed the Nokia Suite S/W but same problem. On the phone I found a second profile so deleted that and kept the default one. Went in and ticked on the phone to sync calendar and contacts (was not ticked???) but still same problem.
BTW I'm using Version 3.8.30 of Nokia suite.
Tried to setup a new profile but I'm asked to define database files which does not seem right plus I don't know if they are refering to the work exchange DB or the home PC DB.
A previous windows phone worked with no issue for years but this Nokia E72 is proving to be a real pain.
How do I get both PC & Laptop to sync?
    Any help please

  • Nokia Suite Needs to be repaired continuous error

    Dear All,
The Nokia Suite still not working since ver.3.89 update and giving the error "Nokia Suite needs to be repaired" .  Since that update and till this moment with all trials of uninstall & reinstall & New updates & New beta versions.............etc are not working.
    I'm using windows XP(SP3)
The Error message is "Nokia Suite Needs to be repaired" , if you choose repair it's an endless cycle.
    Can Anyone help with that.

Hi guys i have an idea with my own experiance. (1) When nokia suite install error occur then i import 2 certificate .cer files (google for it) and nokia suite installed very easy. (2) after 1-2 months nokia suite corrupt because i restore previous restore point, then i remove and reinstall nokia suite now it show install error code 1601. Then
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346
i try method 1 in above site then nokia suite installed normally but (3) now when i open nokia suite it show "needs to be repair" endless error
but don't worry please try this-
install "total uninstall 5" and remove nokia suite, nokia connectivity cable drive and pc connectivity solution with this software, but remember that don't remove above 3 with add or remove program only remove above 3 with total uninstall 5, because this software remove every nokia suite related files in whole pc system. Now restart pc and reinstall nokia suite and see magic. Now nokia suite working fine. Now you can empty recycle bin.
    Thanks

  • New function in Nokia Suite to transfer contacts t...

From version 3.6.x whish is now available as a release download here Nokia Suite has a new feature which allows for an easy transfer of contacts, calendar and photos to your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone via SkyDrive.
Due to some publications on tech blogs and in the general media the suggestion was created that Nokia Suite directly supports Windows Phone now. This is not correct although Nokia Suite now offers an easy and fast way to transfer contacts, calendar and photos to your (new) Nokia Lumia Windows Phone.
    Here's how this feature works;
Connect your Nokia S40, S60 or Nokia Belle phone to your PC using the USB cable.
After Nokia Suite is started and your phone shows as connected select Tools>Upload to SkyDrive and follow the on screen instructions. If you do not have one yet you will have to create a Microsoft account (formerly Live ID) which has a SkyDrive attached to it. You can create such account here.
You will now have to reset your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone. Doing so will erase all content from the phone and return it to it's 'out of the box' state. Make sure you have synced any media files to your PC(zune) or Mac(Connector). You can sync these back after the reset. Installed (paid) apps can be restored after the reset using the app Reinstaller from Marketplace.
When finished reset your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone using Settings>about>reset your phone.
Go through the device first use sequence and when asked enter your Microsoft Account used to save the content from Nokia Suite. When the setup has finished your will find your contacts, calendar and photos have all transferred to your Lumia. These will now also be available through your Microsoft account online.
It is important to note this transfer will only work to the Nokia Lumia at the Device First Use sequence (after a reset). If you have your Lumia setup it will not look for or sync the information copied to SkyDrive through Nokia Suite.
SMS message can not be transferred directly, but you can export all messages in Nokia Suite (Messaging>File/Export all text messages) and open the resulting Comma Separated File (.csv) in Excel or OpenOffice Calc to create an Excel sheet (.xls file) this can then be copied to your SkyDrive and opened from the Office app. You could also use a tool to create separate files from the exported .CSV file and copy all of these to SkyDrive.

I'm sure everybody understands this, but let me take a moment. Lumias are not new Symbian phones, they use the MS Windows Phone operating system. (yea I know, duh) What that means is that they conform to the MS concept of operation which is extremely web/cloud centric. They have left behind the idea that a phone is a little piece of a single PC to be cabled and sync'd periodically. It is an entity unto itself. Your data is in the cloud and the various devices, phones, tablets, PCs, connect to that data independently. The benefit to that is generally up to date data, no matter what device, and when, with virtually no user action required. The drawback is the requirement for connectivity. Not perpetual connectivity, but fairly frequent, periodic connectivity. For some the mere fact of cloud storage is an issue. That is just the way it is though.
Moving from any other platform, even older Windows Mobile ones, to this concept can be frustrating, if you weren't cloud based to begin with. The accepted way is to move your data into the cloud from the old platform, and then connect your Windows Phone to it. Again there are various ways to accomplish that. Nokia has attempted to provide some tools to make some of that transition easier. They are not responsible for, nor in a position to change the philosophy by which WP operates. Don't beat them up for how it works. If you don't like it, maybe beat them up for adopting it

  • Nokia Suite Sync but it does'nt

    synchronize =
    1. To occur at the same time; be simultaneous.
    2. To operate in unison.
So why describe Nokia Suite as having a SYNC function?
All it does is copy mesages on the phone to the PC, to 'Sync' it should make what is held on the PC within Nokia Suite THE SAME as what is on the phone and viz versa.
For instance if I delete old messages from within Nokia Suite it should ALSO delete them from my phone, if I delete message from my phone it should also delte them from PC Suite.
I've just deleted a whole load of messages from Nokia Suite re-run the SYNC Messages and it does nothing all the messages I deleted on the Nokia Suite are still on the phone.
Why call it a SYNC funstion when it is not, or am I missing something?
When I SYNC Outlook Contacts this is exactly what it does and if for instance the same entry has been changed on both Outlook and the phone it will identify the conflict and ask me which one to kepp, THIS IS SYNCING.
Why can't it do the same with messages?

I'm not sure what it matters what phone, this is surely a Nokia Suite shortcoming, rather than a phone model based limitation?
But in answer to your question; my main concern is SMS's rather than MMS's and the phone models I've tried to Sync are from Nokia N96 through N8 and finally Lumia 920

  • Nokia Suite managment

    Hello,
I have question about Nokia Suite:
in old Nokia PC Suite, I could sync contacts, also I was able to copy that contacts in VCF format   anyware i wanted (same for SMS), but, in Nokia Suite I have no such option, is it possible to do this? (copy contacts separated?) , or how can I save my data (conatcts and SMS) stored in Nokia Suite when reinstalling windows?
    Nokia Suite version 3.3.86
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi gio_kiborg,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting!
Nokia Suite, when running on a Windows 7 system, will sync contacts to the Windows contacts list if selected in Tools/Options/contacts 'Sync with contacts application' 'Windows Contacts'' . When you have synchronized your contacts go to 'Start' and enter 'contacts' in the search field. This will open your contact list. You will see the synced contacts there. From here you can select 'Export' From the windows menu and export to either a Comma Separated Value (.csv) textfile or vCards.
In Nokia Suite when you go to the Messages screen and select 'Conversations' you will be able to export messages through 'File>Export all messages'.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on!

  • Nokia Suite 3.6 clears pre installed map data from...

I had a problem with Nokia Suite clearing pre-installed maps from my new Pureview 808 and E5-00. The first time I let Nokia Suite 3.6 check for outdated maps, it reported that over 700MB worth of maps needed updating.
I didn't think much of the time taken but after maybe 5 minutes connection was lost and so were the preinstalled maps. Nokia Care didn't help as they said it was a PC or internet problem.
I also noticed in Nokia Suite 3.6 that the country Thaliand is missing from my installation of the suite for Pureview 808. However the country is there inside my phone's map loader. Thailand is present inside Nokia Suite when I connect my E5 to Nokia Suite 3.6.
Can anyone tell me what the pre installed maps in the phones are?

    @wkl12mr
It depends upon the product code of the device as to which maps are pre-installed upon Mass memory of 808 as this determines localisation.
Presumably your 808 is running Nokia Maps v3.09_12wk09_b05 and if you use "Maploader" from within Nokia Maps application is not Thailand listed as per screenshot?

    Hi Petkkko,
Thank you for posting and welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Sorry for what happened to your phone. Can you tell us which saving memory do you use, SIM memory or Phone memory? Do you remember if you have changed the default saving memory to SIM? As far as I know, the default saving memory is phone. However, you may try to insert your SIM card to another device for us to check if your contacts were saved on your SIM.
Let us know what would be the outcome.

  • Nokia Suite and SMS

    Hi,
I would like to know how can I copy sms from the mobile to local folder in my pc by using Nokia Suite.
I can remember in PC Suite it worked just drag and drop.
    Nokia Suite 3.2.100
    E6-00 025.007
    Thanks

You can drag and drop messages from your device to the Inbox folder (for example) inside Nokia suite and then you can export your messages.
To export messages from Nokia Suite to a CSV file, please do the following:
Select File > Export all messages.
Select an existing CSV file to replace its contents with the currently selected messages, or type a new file name.
Click OK.  All your messages will be stored into the file.
    Cheers,
