Do I need a a/c usb adapter for my shuffle?

when i plug in my new shuffle it shows up in iTunes and will load songs and all but doesn't seem to want to charge. Does this mean I need a wall outlet plug in adapter or is the battery just dead? I already tried restoring it. Please help!

It will only charge from a high-power USB port. It's not exactly unknown for even well-known manufacturers (Dell,for example) to cheat down on power supplied to their USB ports, which could be a cause for your problems.
If iTunes is seeing it then it is in fact seating well enough and, all else being equal, it would be able to charge. Try it in a different port, try on a different platform, or perhaps look into one of the USB power adapter rigs. Those range from pretty nice looking and expensive (from Apple) to fairly ugly but cheaper and still functional.

In some folks' version of the world, you have plenty of ways. YOu have the aforementioned services, you have iCloud, all you need is an internet connection and you're good to go. And that works perfectly...if you always have the internet.
If you want more non-internet dependant ways, then the best way to let Apple know is to send them feedback. They don't monitor or respond to this forum (Beyond removing rule breaking posts) but they do at least log feedback. However, the lack of a file manager will always be an obstacle. There are some apps out there that have at least a pseudo file manager - as in the ability to move documents into multiple other apps. I have Readdle Docs which I can use to download and move things around with, but again, back to the internet or wireless.

iTunes never displays the iPod in the left pane?
iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
2. Right click on "My Computer"
3. Select "Manage"
4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
+Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
7. Close "Computer Management"
8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
9. Reconnect your iPod.

Perhaps, but maybe not, as what can they do with one with the UK plugs? I'm just saying regional things like that often have to be returned at a store in the country you bought them.
But, just go and ask as the worse they can say is no. If they do say no they cannot exchange it, then for very little money you can buy a UK-to-India plug adapter and use that charger in India anyway. Such plug adapters are only $2-$5 here in the USA on Amazon.

I'm really surprised to think that Sony hasn't provided a USB adapter for this tablet. Seems a simple thing to do, in view of the fact that it is so basic and a NECESSITY! Probably not normally, Apple has removed some of the hidden features of the USB dongle via a software update for iPad. One of those features was playing host to hard drives, keyboards, etc.

I would like to configure a Cisco 3600 Router with my laptop, however, I do not have the RJ-45 to DB-15 cable, nor do I have the DB-15 serial port on my laptop. I also do not have the required DB-15 to USB adapter that would be needed to assist me in connecting my computer to the router.
Just curious (so I won't have to buy the cable and the adapter), is there an RJ-45 to USB cable that would allow me to connect directly from Cisco's 3600 Router console port directly to my laptop?

In the labs here at Cisco, and at the Cisco Networking Academy I work for, we use the light blue Cisco flat console cable (Male RJ-45 connection and a Female DB-9 Serial connection), and then a USB adapter to hook to our computers.
The blue cables are very cheap online, as every lab that orders Cisco equipment has ZILLIONS of them. The adapters are pretty inexpensive as well; just note not all are plug-and-play; some need specific drivers (usually easily found online).
Recomended Google/E-bay/Amazon search criteria: "Cisco Console Cable" and "Female DB-9 Serial to USB"

USB adapter for Toshiba MK6034GSX

Does anybody know where to get a USB adapter to fit this hard drive. It has blade type connectors not pins? The laptop will not boot and I'm trying to extract the info if at all possible before I try a format.

That model is a SATA hard drive and uses standard SATA connections. The laptop manufacturer may have plug a special slot adaptor between the hard drive and interface port on the motherboard so you might have to remove that to connect it directly to a SATA connector. Dell in notorious for doing this.
