Do I need a consultant?
I have a project where I am probably willing to pay for assistance, assuming that what I want can be done relatively easily. (I used to be a programmer and I still think like a programmer, but I make money being a lawyer, not a programmer).
Goal: The ability for my clients to see a form, which is updated on a regular basis (by us and by them) to reflect the status of their cases, and then to have a simple database (even just an Excel spreadsheet) which summarizes the information for each of the matters.
Existing work product: A LiveCycle ES form (currently about 4 pages long) which I have very carefully prepared and customized to capture the selected data. We have filled out those forms (same form, 70 different copies for 70 different cases) and they are posted on a secure site (using Interwoven) where they are each strored as a separate document. We can access them and the client can access them. They are changed and then they are saved.
Issues: #1 - When I want to change the form, all of the data needs to be retyped, because there is no "back end" storage.
#2 - When I want to see the status of the 70 matters, to find certain information, I need to open each of the 70 forms.
Goal: Create a "backend", hopefully as simple as an Excel spreadsheet or an Access database, where the data is stored. Each case has its own "number", so the forms should be populated based on that number.

To dynamically populate fields of another database or save a filled out form, you will need additional licenses.
If you buy the license to connect to a database the saving function will also be there.
I did somehow tiptoe around the problem in:
1. Creating a form.
2. Creating a selectionbar on the form that will automatically populate all the entries via script.
3. Creating a mask form, that gives me out the script I need for the actual form to populate the fields
4. Making a database connection that reads out the xml output file
When you want to make a change you then:
1. check the database which changes you want to make
2. Copy the selectionbar from the form into the mask (in LCD)
3. select the choice you want to change
4. change the mask
5. copy out the script you created into your original form (in LCD)
6. chose your choice in the original form
7. upload the xml output into the database
Buying the license will save you an enormous amount of time! Though all the stepts can be done by really dump people like me.
(Except the upload connection to the database... this one was made by others in my enterprise)

If that web site can't find the add-on it says is needed, they need to fix that problem with their servers.

Computer having problems - need quick consult
We bought an iPod, ripped a couple hundred songs from existing CD collection, and synced with my roommate's Windows box. We then told iTunes to sync with his entire picture library in full resolution. We synced, and so far so good.
Now...the PC is older and totally on the fritz, and we're going to take it in for repair. Meanwhile, we strongly suspect that they'll have to at least wipe the hard drive clean if not install other new hardware. We might even have to trash it and buy something new (probably a Mac).
So I enabled disk mode on the iPod, and now in addition to what's synced with iTunes, I copied all of his original digital music files (stuff he downloaded over the years) to the iPod as well as whatever was in My Documents.
My question: Is it the case that if we have to wipe the drive clean and start fresh, after reinstalling iTunes for Windows, would someone kindly verify the following as relates to a repaired PC? I'd be most grateful.
1) Using disk mode, I can copy all of the digital music files (not iTunes files) to the new computer using disk mode, and then re-import them into iTunes
2) Using disk mode, I can also move all the photos from iPod into some new directory on the computer using disk mode
3) The music on the iPod that was originally synced with iTunes will no longer be moveable back to the new PC (instead, it must be re-ripped into iTunes from CDs)
4) The files from the My Documents folder on the iPod can be copied to the new My Documents folder on the PC.
If the above is true, then having to replace the hard drive or PC won't be a big issue. If some or all of the above is NOT true, then I have another problem to solve.
Thank you for any assistance!Rather than move the files through Explorer (you'll have to enable viewing hidden files, they'll all be numbered, etc.) I'd use 3rd party software instead, such as Yamipod. If you do buy a Mac you can use Senuti.
If you have full resolution photos on the iPod, they will be visible in a Photos folder and you can copy them.
You can use Yamipod, Senuti or other software to move your music to the new computer.
Yes, you can copy any data files you've placed on the iPod to the new computer (I'm assuming you enabled disk use and you copied them over and they aren't music, videos, TV shows, photos or anything like that). -

I'm at my wits end: please help! It seems straight forward, and I sold my client on BC thinking this was doable in the events module, but it seems maybe not so without a ton of custom coding.
1. Book an event online,
with option for multiple (say 1-5 people at a fixed cost per person),
and checkout using only Pay Pal (standard or pro, doesn't matter, but I think Standard won't work without shopping cart).
2. The events are every day but Sunday all year long (just admission to an attraction), so is there a way to upload months in advance so they don't have to be manually entered?

you can use SSL with the sender adapter. Please see the extract of the SOAP Adapter FAQ (Note #856597) below:

i would definitely take the advice from the folks here on a rewrite of your commands into one command.
since you've got 2 commands that are bringing back different results you may wish to consider bringing back the results from the 2nd command via a sub-query.
the general idea of the query is below, but you'll need to consult your online help for your database and or your dba for the correct syntax for your situation.
notes:
1) the subselect is in the bold font and is defined as a result set in the join...again, please consult your database help or the appropriated forum for your database as your syntax may vary
2) the fields in the subquery are then referenced in the select clause using the TT alias assigned to the result set in the join
3) the full outer join i guessed that you wanted on the two pos_no fields
4) if you do try to do this method and are looking on your database forum, do a search on "subquery multiple columns"

Type of users needed to view reports in portal
HI gurus,
I am planning to grant acces to bw reports to some portal users.
The portal users only would visualize iviews based on reports and or querys and will nbot interact with the bw backend system.
I am trying to avoid to create a user in the bw system for each portal user who need to consult the reports because of the sap license cost, but I do not have any idea how to map several portal users to one bw user?
Any idea or help will be welcome.

Advice needed on Hyperion Job Opportunities

I'm trying to venture into Hyperion Consulting and I need some advice on Hyperion Job Opportunities. I thought this would be a good place to ask.
Let me give you my background. I have a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, a Masters degree in Computer Science, and an MBA in Finance from a TOP 15 Business School in the U.S. I have been working as a Senior Financial Analyst for the past 5 yrs primarily doing Forecasting, Budgeting etc using Excel. I'm an advanced user of Excel proficient in vlookups, pivot tables etc. I've also used Hyperion sparingly to get budget and actuals numbers from the Hyperion system.
Now,I would like to get into Hyperion Consulting. I'm debating whether I should learn Hyperion Planning or HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) and I'm not able to decide. I want to base my decision on which one of these two systems (HFM/Hyperion Planning) has more job opportunities and pays a higher billing rate.
I've been told that job opportunities in HFM are much less than Hyperion Planning but the billing rates for HFM are higher than Hyperion Planning. Is this true?
I would really appreciate if anyone can advice me on this issue. It would be great if you could also provide me with the average billing rates for both HFM and Hyperion.

This topic is quite controversial for many consultants who chose to carry on with Planning. Let us be honest for a minute: As Planning consultants, we don't like HFM'ers much, but there is a reason behind it. They tend to perceive us like IT geeks. Well, you may argue that it's not particularly a bad thing but are we not more than that? Once I had a rather strange conversation with the head of HFM team in my previous firm. They were trying to hire someone to their team and interviewing a few people weekly but couldn't find anyone for a long time. I happened to ask him how it was going and he said: "well, you know, physical appearence and candidate's care for outfit is very important for us. We are not like you guys, we are dealing with CFOs and even CEOs s". I replied: "yeah, you are right, we do the design with janitors."
But on the contrary, most of the time Planning projects urge you to interact with a much larger community within the company than that of HFM's. I can say, for example, I have discussed with production unit heads about the processes involved in producing steel products, or petrochemicals. I have hands-on knowledge about telecommunication, insurance and government sectors. That's why it's so much fun for me and I love doing it.
About how well you make, it might be true that HFM consultants are paid little more than what Planning conultants are paid on initial grades. But as you move ahead in your carreer, the gap is closed. You can check monster or glassdoor yourself, Planning architects are paid more than HFM counterparts by a significant margin.
It's I think with little argument is a fact that, Planning requires you to be little more technical compared to HFM but in return you have more fun and gain more experience with it. It's a personal choice of course and I know people who does both. The world needs HFM'ers as much as it needs Planning consultants, well, maybe half as much.
