I am unable to install hiphop on shared host for php. Do I need a dedicated server to install it?

How to install sockets for php

I am running torrentflux and am trying to run fluxd and some other stuff that requires "sockets". Here is what torrentflux says:

In pacman I saw "perl-io-socket-ssl" and "perl-danga-socket" but this perl, but I installed it and server still says same thing

Need web intelligence server memory threshold settings for SAP BO BI XI4.0

Hi,
We have found that WIreportserver.exe process taking high memory in our BO systems. We are in SAP Business objects XI 4.0 SP 07 Patch 2 version now.
We have found that the Web intelligence server memory threshold settings to be changed in case of these issues.
But there are no documents that says about the recommended settings for SAP BO BI XI 4.0 version.
The XI 3.1 recommendations(SAP Note:1544103 ) can not be taken as its a 32bit server and the X14.0 is a 64 bit one.
Please let me know the recommended settings for web intelligence server memory threshold settings SAP BO BI XI 4.0 version or any SAP note that says about it.
Any suggestions/ recommendations are welcomed that will fix the issue.

There is settings for 'Web Intelligence Server Memory Threshold Settings' where we will set values for memory max threshold,memory lower threshold and memory upper threshold values .You can check the SAP note 1544103 which says the settings , but its applicable for 3.1.
and which ones have you changed already?
We have not done any changes in settings yet. We are actually searching for the recommended values.
what errors / symptom are you trying to avoid?
We are facing issue in 'WIreportserver.exe' occupying 100% memory.
Please suggest and let me know if any other information is needed.

I have a problem of network configuration. I installed an Oracle 8.1.7 standard edition database server. I can logon using sqlplus at local database machine without any problem. I can logon as system using sqlplus in a remote workstation, but I cannot logon using sqlplus as a normal user in a remote workstation. The normal user is granted connect role and create session system privilege.
Also, once I have a failed logon using normal user I cannot logon as system anymore until I restart the listener on the db server.

Do I need Final Cut Server?

For my video work, I have a Mac Pro 8 core with FCP 7, and an assistant I work with uses a 27" iMac and FCP 7. He opens projects on my computer and works with them over our gigabit network. AT the same time I open other projects and edit them. Seems to work well technically, but we do run into issues when we need to work on the same project at the same time. We are also shooting lots of general b-roll the we use in the projects, and the right clip can be tough to find sometimes.
While I think Final Cut Server can help with some of the organizational issues, I wonder can the Server machine also be a client? Basically I want all the functionality of the Final Cut server software, but I don't want to lose my Mac Pro as an editing machine. Do I need one dedicated server, and then two editing (client) machines?

I am very new to FCS but let me say it adds to your work in some very constructive ways. The organization and search functions alone make more B-roll available so I find myself using it more. I have been uploading lot's of stills as well as all rights stock footage and music we have purchased in the past. When it come time to add cutaways the search function will sometimes kick out footage and still images with corresponding keywords that I would never have thought of using. We are using 3 iMacs on Gigabit Ethernet and a Dual 2.8Gig Quad core Xenon Tower (that used to be my edit station) as the server. Checking out a large project the first time takes a few minutes, but if you have your cache on a large external HD and don't clear it, the proxies stay resident most of the time, so you are just checking out the FCP project and any new material added. I am pretty pleased with the performance overall.

Dedicated server installation

I am purchasing a dedicated Windows Server 2003 (standard edition) and having seen James Wards excellent bench testing I wish to build an application using actionscript 3.0 and transfer data using his AMF3 method. I believe he is using BlazeDS and I really need help working out the setup I will need. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

My ignorance is in server-side software set ups. Firstly will the standard edition of 2003 support web apps? And how do I run J2EE on a windows server? Are they compatible?

The reason I'm asking is because two texts that I have which were not written by Oracle suggest using dedicated server processes, while all of the Oracle-written texts suggest shared (although I did finally find a note which mentions "NOTE:...if your machine has plenty of memory to support dedicated servers, you should use that approach. In this situation, performance is likely to be better.")

Actually it depends upon the requirement.
Shared and dedicated server environment are meant for different purposes and requirements.
If server process is ideal for long time than same server process can be used to server other clients. Eg. On a web site user searched for Oracle Tuning books and now he is taking time to go through the title, contents, price. Your Server process is ideal during this time where as it can used to server other clients.
Similarly if I use dedicated server process for batch processing it will be more effective than shared server because there is no ideal time.
It is not true shared server requires more resources or dedicated server requires more memory. It will depend upon the proper utilization of resources. With the same given resources dedicated server environment may work more efficiently for one scenario and in the another scenario with the same resources a shared server works very well.

Which Backup server version is required for Sybase cumulative dump/load

To perform cumulative dump and load (supported from ASE 15.7 SP100 and up) with 3rd party API, what backup server version is needed?
We use backup server API version 2.1, and sybackup.h does not have any definition for cumulative dump. This header file only defines DATABASE and TRANSACTION as command_type, so when "dump database foo cumulative" is issued, command_type becomes UNKNOWN.
Since we support all the ASE versions from 15.0.3 and up, we ideally need a backup server API that works for ASE versions from 15.0.3 and also works with cumulative backup. Is there such an API version?

What I'm told is that the version wasn't bumped because the changes shouldn't really affect the API functionality; the API module would still receive a byte stream and be able to store and return it regardless of the command_type.
However, you can easily modify your sybbackup.h to reflect the new command_types.
Replace the current command_type definitions with the following:

Installing Adobe LCCS on a dedicated server

Recently, I was trying out Adobe LCCS for screen sharing and file publishing features, and indeed found it as great collaboration service for all the flex application build around the world.
We have a application built on Flex and .net for virtual events domain. I want to use Adobe LCCS to leverage features like web conferencing, screen sharing etc. By going through the site and other blogs, I could understand that this service is provided as S-a-a-S but I want to install this service on a single dedicated server at our end and avoid any dependency on the external server. Does Adobe provides LCCS as a offering of this? Even a pre-installed server could be an option?Also, we are using FMS for our application, can this FMS instance (instead of fms.acrobat.com) be utilised for file sharing, video confering and whiteboard.

The answer from a software licensing perspective depends on the licening model you are on. If Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL), then you already have license entitlement to CUP under the Business Edition of that licence program. If you are on a DLU or UCL-based license program, CUP is seperately licensed.
You will need s seperate MCS server.
Softphones again depend on your license schema. If UWL, each user is entitled to one softphone. DLU and UCL each charge for softphone usage seperately.

ODAC, ODT why do they need server side install?

I am a DBA who was recently asked to do some research on Oracle development tools for Visual Studio .Net 2008.
I downloaded the ODAC and ODT (ODTwithODAC1020221.exe) from OTN. I am under the impression that these development tools are installed on the client workstation. Is this correct? If yes, then I cannot explain why the installation of ODAC and ODT fails immediately complaining that it needs Oracle development extension for .Net installed in the Oracle home.
I go to the Oracle development extensions for .Net and it is a server side install. Can someone please tell me what exactly needs to be done to get the Oracle development tools for VS .Net working?
I have read the documentation and it does not say anything about a server side install. Sorry if I am not very clear. This is unknown territory for me.

As far as I know, I tried to install ODT on the client. I tried both with 10g and 11g. The installation stop at the third screen complaining it cannot find Oracle Database Extension for .Net in the Oracle home where I am trying to install. I am trying to install in c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1.

The VPN update is for OS X Server ONLY. Since you don't have OS X Server installed and you don't need it, then that's why you can't install the VPN update.
