Do I need to download my music from my ipod touch onto my new computer through itunes before downloading new music onto my ipod?

No you can purchase it directly from the iPod and then sync it to the computer whenever it is convenient for you

  • Old computer died, need to get my music from my ipod touch to my pc, how can I do this without losing music for free!?

I have an Ipod touch with about 900 songs on it, i used to connect with my old pc until it recently broke. i have just bought a new pc and was wondering how i could get my music from my ipod to my new computer! the only thing i need is music , no videos or anything. does anyone know how i can do this for free? not very good with computers by the way!

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - If you have synced photos and some other items you will need a paid program like TouchCopy or PhoneView. They also do music.
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backyp by right clicking on the iPod uder Devices in iTunes and select Backup
    - Then restore the iPod from that backup.

  • HT1212 I need to remove the restrictions from my iPod Touch, but I forgot the passcode. How can I reset it? I tried syncing it with the computer, but don't see an option to remove the passcode.

The internet&app store applications were removed from my iPod by restrictions. My father put this block in place and doesn't remember the passcode to reset the restrictions. How can i reset them without the passcode, or reset the passcode?

You can't.  The only way to remove the Restriction password is to: a) Restore the iPod using a backup that predates the setting up of the Restrictions password; or assuming you don't have such a backup b) Restore the iPod to Factory Settings/New iPod.

  • Retrieving everything from my iPod Touch

Ok, i've searched these forums to know how to retrieve
my itunes library, without any decent answer.
My hdd crashed, a bad thing, but i was a lucky guy and retrieved all 'my documents'
now, with a full speed, steady and fresh Windows xp professional,
i came across the problem of 2500 songs being in my back-up of documents, which i want
to have in my library too ofcourse.
    I can't sync my ipod...no fun
here are 2 positive things :
my iPod Touch's still got all songs
i found some library files from my back-up documents (might be library back-up?)
how can i get my songs back without trouble?
    Thx in advance!
this is the second time that i post this...itunes recognises my ipod as 'iPod Touch' while the name used to be 'Ollii's iPod Touch', which actually still is the name of my iPod if i look it up on the device itself..
i might just need to get everything copied from my ipod touch to my library (really, everything)

iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
One last thing, if your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok before connecting your device.
Once you have recovered everything from the iPod and your iTunes library has been rebuilt it will be safe to sync again.

  • How do I stop my iPhone from getting iMessages from my iPod?

Sometimes when my phone is about to die, I tell the person I'm texting that I'm gonna use my iPod Touch to text them back. I use the iMessage on my iPod but I keep hearing my phone ring notifying me that I got a message. I would ALWAYS have to go to the Messages setting on my phone>>> send & receive>>>and only leave my phone number available. I deselect the email address. Everytime I use iMessage from my iPod, my phone would always ring and the "send & receive" would always go back to be my phone number and my email address. Is there a way to stop messages from my iPod from going to my iPhone? I always go to my phone and deselect the email address, but somehow it automatically goes back to the email address. I only want my phone to use my phone number and my iPod Touch to use my email address for iMessaging.

This happens when you share apple id for imessage.
on her ipod - settings - message - send and receive - remove your apple id.
You'll need to create a new id for her so she can use imessage, or just remove your apple id from your imessage settings.

  • HT5085 If I downloded a paid aap from my iPhone then should I pay again for installing in my ipod touch

Do I need to pay again for an aap which is already installed in my IPhone, for reinstalling in my Ippd touch 5g

No, you don't need to pay again, it should appear in the Purchased tab in the App Store app from where you can re-download it for free : re-downloading.

  • Going between apps they continue to reset. I can no longer do what I need my iphone for.

Going between apps they continue to reset. I can no longer do what I need my iphone for. I've looked for a solution and haven't found one. This seems to be a gigantic blunder in the latest evolution of iOS. I used to love iphone but now it's like a curse. Thanks for any help you can give.

Can you be more specific?   What does "going between apps they continue to reset" mean?

Are you logged in with the same account that was used to activate the phone ? If you are, and the apps aren't showing as free, then try logging out of your account by tapping on it at the botto of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if they then show as free.

I just downloaded IOS 5 on to my IPHONE 4. When i text people that also have Iphones for Imessage my name is my email. anyone know how to change it?

You have an Apple ID signed in to all the devices which is causing this.
"When you sign in to your Apple ID with iMessage using an iPhone with iOS 6, your Apple ID is linked to your phone number. This allows you to receive iMessages sent to your phone number on other iOS 6 devices signed in to the same Apple ID."
To correct this, go into Settings > Messages > Send and Recieve at > See below...
On your phone: Uncheck your son's phone number
On his phone: Uncheck your phone number.
On iPad: Uncheck both phone numbers to prevent iMessages sent to either number to also appear on the iPad.
If you have email addresses associated here, then you may have to remove those as well, although you won't be able to remove the Apple ID that you're using. Any iMessage sent to that Apple ID will arrive at all the device unless you sign out of that Apple ID and create/use another Apple ID for that device.

  • I have an iPhone 4 and getting a iPod touch for my child, my question is whether to create separate account or have a shared account? I want to share some music and apps but not all and I also want her to be able to iMessage and face time with her owniPod

I have an iPhone 4 and getting a iPod touch for my child, my question is whether to create separate account or have a shared account? I want to share some music and apps but not all and I also want her to be able to iMessage and face time with her own iPod and own account .   What's the best way to go?

You can use one Apple ID for purchasing (App Store & iTunes Store) and shared with your child whereas your child uses a different Apple ID for Game Center, e-mail, FaceTime, iMessage. Even on iCloud there you'll get an extra 5GB free.

  • I have my Dad's apple ID etc, but he has an iphone and i have an Ipod Touch then on IMessage i can read all the messages he recieves and sends and he can read all the messages i send and recieve how do i stop this?

    Hi
I have my Dad's apple ID etc, but he has an iphone and i have an Ipod Touch then on IMessage i can read all the messages he recieves and sends and he can read all the messages i send and recieve how do i stop this? But i still want to send messages to him.
    Thank You

. You do not need a seperate Apple ID. One one device you just need to go to Settings>Messages and add another/different Messaging email address and delete the common Apple ID address. Also see:
