Do I need a license for Uninterruptible Power Supply?

Hello!
I want to monitor some infrastructure devices with SCOM 2012. Tell me please, do I need a management license for devices like:
1) UPS (with integrated management modules available by SNMP)
2) APC Netbotz with a number of sesnsors (Netbotz itself is available by SNMP)
3) APC Data Center Expert (APC monitoring server with Linux OS, which can be integrated with SCOM by using management pack from APC).
Thanks!

You dont need any specific licenses for monitoring these devices with SCOM.

  • Need a piece for my power supply cable

So my mag safe power supply for my Macbook Pro has the two little "hooks" that pop out and allow you to wrap the cable around them for travel. One of the hooks broke and during the process of trying to get it fixed through Apple, by replacing the hook, I was advised you have to replace the whole thing.
I was wondering if anyone knew any place to get these little guys or had an extra one lying around that they would be willing to sell via a Paypal payment.
    Thanks!

Alternative suggestion I gave to one of my clients: buy another power adapter, then use the "broken" one permanently at your desk. So rather than rushing out of the house, forgetting to pack your charger, instead leave one of the chargers in your bag. When you get home, you plug in to the "permanent" desk charger. The one on the desk would never be coiled up, or coiled up in a different way with wire ties or something. And if the charger is under your desk, well, out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
I've done this for years, ever since that first time I forgot my charger and blew my school assignment because no one on campus had a compatible charger I could borrow. While it is an additional expense, it's also a comfort that when I break the charger, I have an immediate spare, or have a second charger for troubleshooting.

  • UPS (uninterruptible power supply) best suited to Mac Pro?

    Hello
May i get some advice please?
I need to buy an uninterruptible power supply because of the powercuts round here. I live in the UK
I'd like to use it on my Mac. I have a Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon, 12 GB RAM, 4 HDDs, with two monitors and a 9 port USB hub which has the occasional attachment
I've been looking at APC's units but have come to a snag in finding out what kind of wattage I should look for in a UPS.
I have read that it can be variable, based on many factors.
So instead of being overwhelmed/confused etc I thought I'd just ask you guys
Anyone recommend me what I should be looking for in a UPS that'll serve this purpose, and any makes and models you have found to work very well?
If possible, nothing at 'enterprise level' in cost, i don't have that kind of budget.
    Thanks!

readers saying that the 'newer' models were not built as well, noisey fans, and APC filtering for coax + phone + rj45 caused interference. The SMART CyperPower does not interfere (losng that and having sporatic cable for a month).
I like cyberpower - some for personal reasons.
the new APC SMART 1000VA is nice. The APC XS does not filter properly and lacks features of the RS series (I have both).
So I still have some APC models, but before I was faced with a failure I wanted to try a different brand and got burned by Belkin's junk.
Come a storm, I use the APCs for the house and they have those auxillary 24A power packs you can plug in which will power a couple lamps for 8 hrs plus, or power Mac Pro for an add'l hour.

  • Is mysql a free open source database or do you need a license for it in prd

is mysql a free open source database or do you need a license for it in production.

    Hi,
It should be free under GPL (General Public license).Usually it will comes with your operating system distribution (eg:RHEL)
If you download it from Oracle site, it should have the commercial license tied to it, and you need to pay for that if it is in use for production.

  • Graphical application for an APC uninterruptible power supply (UPS)?

    Hi,
I have a APC UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and I'm looking for an application that shows me more than just some percentages of the capacity of the battery. I know that and some settings can be done by the energy saving settings.
But the Parachute application for windows, shows you the present load of the UPS so you can see if it is possible to power additional devices with it.
It also shows you some more in detail information.
So I was thinking of a tool like "APC Tracker" from Equinux.com, but 112$ is more than I paid for the UPS! So that is a no go. And now I was wondering if some of you might know an alternative?
I know that there is a packet called NUT for MacPorts and also APCUSPd. But from what I've read. Both will interfere with Apples Energy Saving settings.

Agreed, but I don't see how to do that in conjunction with the automatic shutdown capability of the UPS. I doubt the current OS is capable of responding to a usb signal by waking up then shutting down. It seems unlikely that apple or the UPS vendors would anticipate that someone would want this feature.
On the contrary, that's exactly what people want, and Apple and at least some of the vendors do just that.
The U.P.S. doesn't actually do the shutdown, of course, OSX does, and you're talking about two different things anyway.
A good U.P.S. sends more than one signal. It sends frequent updates of the power level of the batteries, and notifies OSX when it's on battery power.
OSX wakes a sleeping Mac up immediately when the utility power fails, so it can send a message.
The automatic shut down is scheduled, via System Preferences, by your choice of time on battery power, estimated time left on the battery, and/or remaining battery power level (percent).
APC's +Power Chute+ software, which I used with Panther, worked similarly, and I'd expect other decent 3rd-party U.P.S. software to have similar capabilities.

  • Looking for a Power Supply

    Hi!
I am looking for a power supply for my sound blaster speakers.
The model is SBS 380. The power supply works on a 4.0 volt.
Anyone who would have a spare one to sell or to inform me where
to buy one would be most appreciated. ( I'm in Canada )
I have be been to several stores but no ones carries 4 volts power supply.
The one I have is no lomger functional and the sound is excellent from those speakers.
BTW, Craetive no longer support them and have none in stock.
    Thanks,
    Gerry

Jason, I think he would have some trouble getting them shipped to Australia from one of those stores. Beside that it would be less from newegg, look at the additional 20% off promo and free shipping. For me it's 3 days from order to delivery from ZZf and newegg.
Yes, one of the Corsairs but not HX but as mentioned TX or VX, also PC P&C 610. Ignore watts, go by +12V amps and as FP mentioned consider future need for more power when choosing. Nowdays the VX450W (+12V~33A) would be considered minimum to get and also would be considered weak for many current systems.

  • Problems with Uninterruptible Power Supply on an OS X Server 10.6

    Hello
Since years we are working with OS X Server on different Hardware (macmini, MacPro, Xserve) using Uninterruptible Power Supplies from APC. Till 10.6 without any problems
Since we installed our new server with 10.6, I recognized the communication with the APC (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and the OS X Server with the USB-Cable is very irrealible. When we look to the screen of the server there appears lots of Windows with an Error Message that the Power was interrupted. I also have the problem recognized on an OS X Server which I updated from 10.5 to 10.6 (On 10.5 I never had this warnings)
I can't image that this is a problem of the Source. We here in Switzerland have a very relealible Source with an Uptime off at least 99.99%
Has some recognized the same behavior with the new OS X server 10.6
    Gérard

Is it saying that your machine went on UPS power (the error messages you're referring to)? I ask because I have noticed this on two new xServes I setup recently on APC UPS (which are also brand new). About once a week, I'll see an error on each xServe that it was on UPS power but by the time I see it, its on standard power again.
I haven't spent much time on it yet since these are both pre-production test servers until I work out some kinks but I was assuming it was some kind of test by the UPS where it was checking the battery and placing units on backup power periodically as some sort of self test? That's probably not correct though considering you're experiencing the issue as well.
Perhaps it is time to place a call in and see if apple is aware of any issues since I'm only seeing this on 10.6 servers.

  • Project Server 2010 Resource Assigments - Need a license for every Resource?

I am trying to determine the requirements for Project Server 2010 licenses.
In Project Server 2010, I need to add resources to the pool, then assign a resource to a project task.  The task will be maintained/statused through a manager, not the resource.
Does that resource need to have a Project Server license even if the resource never accesses Project Server even through PWA?

    Hi JenKranich,
You need licences only for users that will access
Project Server data by any means :
MS Project Pro, Sharepoint sites and/or
    PWA.
But resources not associated with users are not "real person" accessing data but just informal entity, thus no need for licences for those resources.
It is important to note that if those resources can access the SharePoint site, since it contains Project Server data (risks, issues, deliverables), then they DO need a licence.
    Hope this helps.

  • OEM - do I need a license for home use?

    Guys
    I installed Oracle 10.1 on Solaris 10 x86.
Whenever I try to load http://localhost:5500/em, I get a permission denied error.
    01. This is for home use (learning). Do I need a license?
    Thanks in advance

    A few things to check:
    1. Check the installation Manual to ensure the owner(installer) of the software has all the required privilege granted to it and that the dbconsole is started by that user (instead of root).
    2. Check that you are accessing the correct port. It is not always in port 5500. Check the file $ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini to ensure you are entering the right port.
    3. Check that you are using the correct host name. Use the name of the Server instead of localhost. Also if at install time you used the Long Servername (e.g ugoserver.ugonic.com.ng), you will have permission problem when /etc/hosts file has only the entry for the Short Servername (e.g ugoserver). So check and append the long Servername to the end of the line.
    4. Remember to have a look at emca.log file for more error message details

    Hi,
Yes the PSU will be ok. It's a desktop so you don't have to use exactly the same PSU. It can be even more powerful but make sure there are all compatible connectors. It looks like the CDR version is only 300W and the DDR 400W. The connectors are the same..

  • Need a license for CS4 ME

    Hi all,
I want to buy license for adobe CS4 ME software but I cant find any seller/store that will sell me license.
Is it possible that once the CS5 is out no one will sell CS4?
and also, will a CS4 license key work with a CS4 ME software?
    Thanks in advance
    Eyal B.

    Hallo Eddy,
Thanks for the fast reply. But it is still not completely clear for me.
I have read the Licensing Guide of SBO but I still don't know what we have to do. We are an ISV and make add-ons. We are making an application where an operator in the warehouse can enter a delivery note to the system. This application is using DI API.
According to what I can read in the licensing guide we need an add-on solution license. How do we get this for our application? How much does this costs?
What does a customer has to buy from SAP if he has 2 users working with the application of SAP and 10 users that use an application that uses DI API? Is this 2 professional users licenses for x EUR and a license to use add-ons for x EUR?
Thanks in advance for the reply

  • Independent developer needs dev license for BW

Hello.  What are the steps for an independent developer to get a non-trial license of BW for development purposes?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Here is the "License FAQ" for the Connector. The PDK might have a different license.
    1. Do I need a developer license for the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET?
Developer licenses are always required when SAP development tools and functionality are being used for development.
    2. We already use ABAP for development. Do we need additional licenses to use the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET?
If you have existing developer licenses these named persons already have the required license to develop solutions based on the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET. If additional persons want to develop based on the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET, you will have to acquire additional developers licenses for them. In any case, all customers can download the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET from the SAP Service Marketplace under the Quick Link “Connectors”.
    3. How can I purchase developer licenses for the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET?
To obtain the necessary license please contact your local SAP office.
    4. Do I need a runtime license for running an application that uses the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET?
The runtime does not require any immediate license fees. However, please note that each user accessing application functionality through the SAP connector for Microsoft .NET is required to be licensed under a respective solution or component license.

  • I need help to replace my power supply for the hp pavilion elite m9510f

This computer has given me many problems since I bought it in '09. From graphic card fan issues, a hard drive crash, and now the power supply has failed.
I did the blow dryer trick but it still ends up breaking a week later. I want to know what new power supply should I buy. One that will be able to fit in the hp pavilion elite m9510f and is an upgrade to the 350w that it has. Maybe somthing under 60-70 dollars if possible. Thanks for any help.

It appears to be a normal case and motherboard.  A normal ATX supply should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=50001333&IsNodeId=1&Description=Computer...
Just an example of what is availble, but most any should work as long the physical dimensions match the one installed now.
