if you have access to your old computer, open an adobe program and click help>deactivate.

I just purchased a new computer that runs windows 8 and it doesn't want to recognize the time capsule as an external hard drive (ie doesn't show up under my compter). I've downloaded and run airport utility, but it seems to have a hard time finding the time capsule...maybe one out of 10 times it will find it.
What's more, when I look under network infrastructure under the control panel, it shows my Broadcom ADSL centurylink Router...so I'm wondering if my modem/router combo is overriding the router function on my timecapsule and the time capsule is not being used as a router...
Any help much appreciated! In this case the TC should be in bridge mode.
Win8 is still problematic. Try using ethernet instead of wireless. I think the drivers are poor still and it is well worth having a try via ethernet if you haven't already.
Otherwise you will need to wait for apple to release bonjour for windows 8 and airport utility.. which is not out yet.
Also make sure the windows is set to home, not work or public.. even turn off the firewall.
Open windows explorer and type the TC ip address into the address bar.. (none of which is perhaps the same.. I gave away windows at vista.. shudder)

I had photoshop elements 8 installed on my previous computer and it did not work properly when it came to sizing photos for a website I was adding to. I now have a new computer which runs windows 7. Is it worth installing photoshop elements 8 again on my new computer or will it be a waste of time?
I have PSEv.8 on my computer running WINDOWS 7. It works perfectly..
Perhaps you need help with saving files for web use.. Will be pleased to assist you when you get everything set up. -
If i have Time Machine backed up on an external hard drive, do i just plug the drive into another macbook pro and all my stuff is in the new computer? Also, does it matter if the new computer is running Lion when the backed up info came from Snow Leopard 10.6.8?
No and Yes
Don't use TM for this purpose, clone your drive to an external, plug the external into another MBP and reboot from it. Please note that booting a machine that came with Lion may not be possible from a drive with Snow Leopard. -

Safari question here... Can I purchase a browser update for my mac book? I have OSX 10.6.8 and the "update software" function won't let me get past Safari 5.1.10. Please tell me I don't need a new computer just yet... Thx!!
You need to upgrade OS X.
Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mavericks/Yosemite- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -
Why does RT 2011 Sp1 tell me that I need a newer version to run an app?
After installing RT 2011 SP1 on a laptop, I get an error that I need a newer version of Run time when i try to run an application created from LV 2011 SP1. Any ideas why?
Hi,
Try to verify the version of LabVIEW installed in your controller (NI-MAX >> Remote System >> [Your Real-Time Target] >> Software >> LabVIEW Real-Time). Your controller should still be running the previous version of LabVIEW Real-Time. Try to install the new version in your target.

How can I move my photos from Photoshop Elements 8 to a new computer also running Elements 8?
How can I move my photos from Photoshop Elements 8 to a new computer also running Elements 8?
I am not sure this is going to work. For one thing, the preferences file is in a different place in Mountain Lion. It is at: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.pli st. I wouldn't try to move the .plist file, I'd be very surprised if it would work.
I would do a different approach and start with just recreating the mail account(s) you have on the new machine from scratch and let them download your mail from the server. Then if there were e-mails not on the server any more, but stored in the black macbook, I'd copy them from the mailboxes folder, from the old machine to the new. I'm not sure where they are in 10.5.8, but in ML they are at ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes.
At each stage along the way I'd do a backup, so in case it screws things up, you can revert to a functional Mail.app. -
do i need a new computer, or is there a work around
I don't think that is completely correct, Allan. Netflix streaming doesn't have anythign to do with your computer hardware. Yes, if you want to stream content from iTunes it must meet the hardware specs, but the OP isn't talking about that.
To the OP, scroll up to the top of the episode list and select the "other seasons in this series" option. Then you'll be able to see the other 8 volumes. -
WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER TO RUN FIREFOX,WHEN I HAVE OS 10.5?
It's ridiculous that I should have to buy a new computer to run Firefox, just because I have OS 10.5. You must think people are made of money.
First off you should update to Firefox 16.0.2, which is the latest version of Firefox that will run on your PC. It isn't the most modern, but it's faster and more secure that 3.5.
We dropped support for Mac 10.5 just like we drop support for other old operating systems. The userbase on it is decreasing (due to users upgrading) and continuing to support it is hold back innovation for more modern Operating Systems.
As for why it is considered old, blame Apple. They released 10.5 in 2007 and stopped supporting it in 2009. Because you have an Intel Processor you can probably upgrade to Mac 10.6, which should be something like $20USD. -
I have an imac osx version 10.5.8 I need to update it to at least 10.6.8 Is that possible or do i need a new computer??
Check the Apple link below to determine if your computer meets specs and for ordering information.

I need a new computer. What do you think of the new Lion?
I need a new computer. Should I go for the new LION? 21" ? I have had a Dell?
My guess is WZZZ and I don't agree on Lion. IMHO it's stable and a great OS. While it does have Launchpad as a feature which is very iPad like, Launchpad does not need to be used. I've been using Lion since it's inception and have found it to be simply the next evolution of OS X having migrated from Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard and now Lion.
If you need a new computer any new iMac would be a fine choice, which one is right for you would depend on how you intend to use the computer. WZZZ is spot on on the refurbs too, some 2010 models may still be available and some do come with Snow Leopard on it which you can update to Lion if you want. That update would be free as part of Apple's Lion - Up-to-date program.
Transitioning to OS X is pretty easy however to make that transition easier you may find these bookmarks useful.

Need a new computer - have PS cc
I have PS CC and am thinking of a new computer. I am not technical and have looked at the system requirements and am trying to match up with some affordable options. I want a desktop
Here are 2 options but I am confused as they state Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon - Pentium 4 seem to be getting phased out by intel icore 3, 5 etc. Would PS CC work on the following machines? - Including the 3D bit - I don't know how to decide if they have Open GL 2.0 capable systems
Any help would be appreciated

NOAt the moment I have an Acer Aspire - it's 3 years old and I am running Windows 7 it's a 64 bit machine. I use photoshop with many layers to produce - I also use Paint Shop Pro I don't use it for photography but mainly for many layered taggins, email, animations etc. Uploading my siggie tags to Photobucket and Fotki also the usual general stuff MS office, Word, Excel, One Note. My husband has an old Acer which is so slow - it has less than 1gb RAM and it's still running on Vista My thoughts were if we are going to replace his I may as well get one that will fulfill my needs too should my machine go down. I am a mod in a couple of taggers forums and have to be able to produce things Forgot to say I use all photoshop 2014 CC including 3D. My budget is about £350 tops - I am in UK
My present machine spec is this
Acer Aspire X5400 AMD Athlon II X4 3 GHZ Processor RAM 4 GB 64 bit o/s with NVidia Geforce
Video Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Renderer: GeForce 315/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL Version: 3.3.0
GLU Version: 1.2.2.0 Microsoft Corporation
This is what I have just made in PS to give you an example - Hope this information helps

I need a new computer but not sure what to get, im on a budget
This may sound dorky and a little nerdy but, It is time that I buy a new computer. It has been such a long time since I have bought one, and even then I didnt make the purchase my ex-wife did. The deal is this....I am a major World of Warcraft geek. So one would expect that I know what kinda computer I should buy. Not the case. I need to know what I should look for when I am purchasing a computer strictly for the purpose of playing World of Warcraft. I dont have a ton of money to spend and I am going to get the computer from Best Buy because, well frankly, I have a lot of gift certificates for there. So in short I need a solid computer for gaming, have a limited budget and I dont care if its a desktop or laptop, all though I would prefer a desktop. Please if you have any advice to offer I would appreciate it very much.
You have bigger problems then looking for a good computer. A Destruction Warlock at lvl 70. /shakes head. LOL, just kidding. I would recommend going Affliction or Demonology until you hit lvl 80 unless you are leveling strictly through the Random Dungeon tool. Although even with randoms, Affliction is still completely capable of outperforming Destro locks until the early to mid gear levels of level 80 toons. Plus, as Affliction your mana is almost endless and there is virtually no downtime to drink and eat between mob pulls while questing. Two words: Drain-tank. Plus its.........wait a minute......we're on a Best Buy site. Hmmm....got a little bit carried away.
For a computer system, you don't really need an awesome graphics card to run WoW. Although with Cataclysm I believe the system requirements will be raised a bit with the ability to fly through Azeroth. I was actually with a customer today looking for a computer to play Flight Sim on and we found a great ASUS desktop for $499. 4 gigs of ram, with a great graphics card 1.74 Gigs of shared memory.
I, like others on here, would recommend you purchasing a desktop for computer gaming. As games grow, their requirements grow larger and desktops give you the best option for a system that you can upgrade.
I hope this helps........and at least try out my suggestion about re-speccing to Affliction. Just remember not to Clip your DoTs. Warlocks are OP.
I DO NOT work for Best Buy. I used to be a Geek Squad Agent for 2 years and this is why I am well versed on their policies and procedures, but I do not work for them anymore. My posts are my own opinions and do not represent any opinions of Best Buy. If you do not like my posts, and want to report me, you can do so by clicking this link and reporting me to the moderators.
