Do I need a new iPod?

I've had some issues. On Thursday my iPod skipped a song so I did a backup and restore. I had done this two or three weeks ago. Last night it crashed in a Skype call when 20% notice popped up. It froze on the blue screen for log in of Skype when I tried to reopen. It would darken slightly but not shut off. Not when I hit the power button or hit home button. Only assistive touch would work. I had to back up and restore for it to work again. It may be on the apps part though, because when the apps were reinstalling, Skype was com.skype. I deleted it from iTunes and my device. And today, I had an audio file playing in a Tumblr post, went to Kik, double tapped home in assistive touch and paused it. As I was typing, voice control kept opening. Then my music began to play and fast foward like it was being held. I hit the home button (normal as it does work) to see if it was that then went to settings and turned assistive off then on. The one who I was talking to said it had happened to their iPod when they were in humid weather. It's not humid where I live so I doubt that is what caused it. It's fine for now (has been about fifteen minutes but I plan to do a back up and restore.
Do I need a new iPod or is there a way to fix these issues?

Are the problems you experience significant?
If they are minor, you always have the option to continue using the device until problems of a more significant matter occur. Once that were to happen, if it happens, a hard reset could be used to restore to a back up point. iCloud can also be used to back up your device on a regular basis without you having to worry about doing it manually. Once your device is plugged into a power source and connected to wifi (maybe at the end of the day) it backs up automatically.

  • Is this a battery issue or do I need a new ipod?

I have had my Ipod mini since they first came out and use it every day. For the last few months the battery drains constantly every 2 hours so I need to keep it plugged in. Recently it's become as soon as you turn it on it will drain and turn off. Turn it back on it will drain again and turn off.....do this four times in a row it will eventually notice it has a charged battery.
Last night the darn thing turned off completely and will not turn on for anything. I've tried all the trouble shooting tips and now have it plugged into the computer.....dead.
So is this a battery needs to be replaced issue or is it a you need a new ipod issue?
should mention the top where the head set goes in is coming off as well.....over use between work and home.

I was having the same problem and found this link in another thread and followed the directions, removed the battery and when I reassembled my iPOD it worked fine and in fact it indicated a fully charged battery.

Give it a shot, you may have nothing to loose... You should be somewhat handy though.

  • I HAVE A DILEMMA  (need a new ipod nano)

Okay, so I purchased the 2nd gen 8Gig black iPod in 2007 and I've have been using it ever since...however, unfortunately a couple of weeks ago I reached my limit of storage on my ipod (meaning I can't fit any more songs on there). I never thought I'd even get close to 2000 songs...guess that's just how much I love music, lol. And right now I have so many songs that are on stand by (meaning they're just sitting in my itunes library because they won't fit on my ipod).
Anyway I've been considering purchasing the new 4th generation 16G ipod....HOWEVER, I've been informed that I would have to upgrade to itunes 8, and like ALL 3 of the computers in my house are later versions of iTunes 7. Only the newest computer has iTunes 8, but none of my 1800 songs are on that computer, they're all on the other 3 ones. And I'm afraid if I upgrade all the computers to iTunes 8, that something bad is gonna happen. I look at all these errors that other people are having and it's making me VERY skeptical of upgrading iTunes or getting a newer model ipod nano. Someone even told me that I may have to delete my old itunes before downloading iTunes 8....um....HECK no! lol. And I don't want to sacrifice all my songs (ESPECIALLY the purchases ones) over an upgrade. But I do need more space.
I don't want a big bulky ipod, I like the nanos cuz they're lighter (weight-wise), look better and fit in my pocket nicely. If only the 2nd generations had a 16gig I wouldn't have to write this post, lol. So any suggestions???? I'd greatly appreciate em...and please no wisecracks or smart jokes I'm really trying to come to a solution here, lol.

"Well, some of the songs in my iTunes library are either from CDs, purchased from the itunes store, or they were added to my library from my computer....so that means my ~2000 something songs ARE NOT separate from the program...right?"
Wrong. The iTunes APPLICATION is not the same as the iTunes LIBRARY.

  • My nano has the 1.1.3 version of itunes when my computer has the latest version, and wont sync with my computer, will i need a new ipod?

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Help needed restoring new ipod

Ive just bought a new 8gb ipod touch as 2 days ago mine died on me. It contracted the infamous white screen of death. I tried restoring it but still couldnt get it working. So before the resore it backed up my first ipod automatically which i thought was great. Ive just pluged in my new itouch and restored it with the backed up files from my first itouch. Problem is its not restored my music, apps and emails. Its restored my photos and notes but not the most important stuff like my music and apps. Can anyone help ??? Would be much appreciated

I wish that I can tell you different but I cannot. You can transfer your music from iTunes to your iPods but not vice versa without third party software. You are in a tough situation because even if you get the countless available third party software then you still cannot get the music out of your old iPod because it is dead...........
I am not sure what else you can do to retrieve your music other than somehow revive your old iPod and hope that the data is intact...

  • Ok, this has been going on for a while. Whenever I try to record my voice or any noises with the built in microphone, it plays back super quietly, even when I like yell or put it close to my mouth. Do I need a new iPod? Or is there something I can do?

    Help please!

    - Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens
    - Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My iPod has a white screen. Do I need a new iPod?

I already tried connecting it my my ihome and to my computer but it didnt change. if i plug it into my ihome and press the play button on my ihome it will play but that is pretty much it.

patriotsalltheway...you don't have to get a new one. the manual says hold down the wake/sleep button and the volume down button, simultaneously, for 6 secs...it works...my 4 year old son produced the white screen for my benefit and i did it and IT WORKED! Son is saved.

  • DO I NEED A NEW IPOD OR SOMETHING??????

everytime I turn on, reset or plug in the iPod, the Apple comes up for like 10-20 seconds, then the folder with exclamation point comes on. When it's plugged in, it will shortly connect to the computer, then it will automatically reset and go back to the apple and so on and so forth. It doesn't even charge when plugged in, but it will show up as a removable disk for a few seconds, then it resets again. When I tryed using the latest updater, it said that it couldn't "Mount" the iPod, anyone?
    thanx,
    John

    Haha...mount...
Anyway, I have the same problem, but I know why.
You probably disconnected the iPod when it said not to...it's okay, you can admit it. This means that you should do what you're told. Now all the files are ruined. What I did at first was just disconnected the iPod and let it be so the battery would drain after tiring itself out trying to find all the files. Then I plugged in the iPod again into the computer, iTunes came up and automatically updated all the songs, then I waited for it to stop telling me not to disconnect, then when it was okay, I did and it worked fine.
Just don't do what I did and enable disk use..that screws the whole think up royally.

  • Corrupt iPod...do I need a new one?

I just got the 8g nano and go to connect it but theres a pop up saying its corrupt and try to restore...so I try to restore it but the ipod wont stay connected long enough to finish...do I need a new iPod?

I am having the same problem with my Nano 4GB. The last thing I did was show my friend how awesome the video quality was and then we left and went about our day. I can home and was planning on listening to some tunes and it just got stuck. No sound...nothing! But I could still sort of use the menu and scroll. Now it's just stuck no backlight but you can see that it's in play mode with the battery looking to be charging but it's totally dead.
I tried to connect it to my itunes and itunes said that I had an unknown ipod...an unrecognizable ipod that's corrupt and I should restore to factory setting but after it tried it said I couldn't.
very bizarre. I ordered it online. I'm not sure if I should take it to an apple store or contact apple over the phone.
What a bummer. It's my first real ipod.

  • I try to download an app, but it says I need a new version of iPod software, yet I have the latest version.

I've had this issue a couple times now. I have a iPod touch. It is a couple years old, but still new enough to have dual cameras. There have been a couple apps I've tried to load, and it tells me I need a new version of iPod software. I go to the iPod software version screen, and it tells me I have the latest version available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Kurt

See if you can download the last compatible version by:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
If not successful then you need a newer model iPod if you want to use that app

  • I have an iphone 4 and i just bought an ipod touch 5th gen.  I need to sync everything from my iphone 4 to my new ipod touch.  Please read description beloew for further.

I have an iphone 4 16 gb and got an ipod touch 64 gb because i needed more momory.  i need to sycn everything from my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 5th gen i just bought.  i just downloaded the latest version of itunes as well.  To be honest, the newest version of itunes is hard to use and not as user friendly in my opinion - or i may not know how to use it yet.  Anyways, i tried to backup my iphone to itunes and then restore my new ipod from the backup of the iphone 4, but it only backed up phoyos, contacts, and two other things (games was not one of them).  Then when I restored my ipod, that is all that downloaded onto the ipod as well.  I would really appreciate if someone would be able to provide me with detailed instructions as to how to be able to download everything from my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 5th generation.  Thanks in advance!

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :
