Do I need a new operating system to get 30 day InDesign download?

I am trying go load a free trial of InDesign.  The Adobe website states that InDesign no longer supports the operating system.  It states that the system requirement only works with supported platforms.  Does this mean I have to get an updated OS from apple?  Adobe is not clear.  As you can tell, I am new to this.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Based on the message you indicate you are getting it would appear that you do require a different system in order to be able to utilise the InDesign version you are trying to install.
You should check out the system requirements for whatever version that is and see where your system comes up short:

  • Older macbook from early 08' needs a new operating system

I bought an ipod nano7 and it is not compatable with the old itunes and i cant update itunes because my OS is too old. Is it possible to put a newer OS on this macbook? Im pretty sure the newest available OS isnt compatable. Thanks.

    Hi,
Firstly, you have posted in the wrong area. This is the area for Mac OS X Server. You'll probably get more help if you go to the correct area.
But in the meantime, find the serial number for your macbook:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1366
    Then go to this website:
    http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com
Enter the serial number for your laptop into the field at the top, and press enter.
Then scroll down and look for this field: "Maximum OS:". That will tell you the latest OS your computer is capable of.
I'm guessing that you can probably run Mac OS X 10.7, and that'll allow you to use itunes to sync your ipod nano.
If you're not able to follow the instructions that I've posted, then you should probably bring your macbook to your local apple retailer / apple store for assistance.
    Best Regards,
    TigerKR

  • Ipod needs new operating system

    Hi there,
I've just bought the new 120gb ipod classic, and was a little irritated to find it wasn't compatible with my ibook G4, because I apparently have an out of date operating system. I've been searching for a solution but it seems more complicated than I first thought.
First, I was told I just needed to get "Leopard" on disc, and install it, and I'd be OK. Eighty-five quid I wasn't banking on spending, but there we are.
But then a mate of mine told me this would only work if I had at least a gig of free RAM. I haven't got the faintest idea what this means, but it turns out I can buy some extra RAM. Forty quid I wasn't banking on spending, but there we are.
But then, I was told that unless I had "firewire" the software update wouldn't work anyway because it came as a DVD and I only have a CD drive.
I'm now utterly baffled. All I want is for my new ipod to work! I don't care about new operating systems, RAM, firewire etc.
Can anybody out there please explain (in the simplest terms possible, so my small brain can cope) how to sort this out?
    Yours hopefully....

You need to upgrade to either "Tiger" (10.4) or "Leopard" (10.5) in order to use your iPod. (BTW, the minimum specifications are on the box and state you have to have at least 10.4.11). If you call AppleCare you can still buy Tiger through them and I think you can then avoid the memory upgrade (although it wouldn't hurt). You also need to tell them you have a CD drive and not a DVD and see if they have any remedy for you. Firewire applies only if you are going to try to update your computer from a different computer connected via Firewire, and you should have a Firewire port on your computer. Or, you can but an external DVD drive that uses Firewire and connect it to your computer.
If you call AppleCare they can explain all this to you in detail, or you can return the iPod and look on eBay for an older model that works with Panther (10.3).

  • I need to take music off my Iphone to download new oper. system. how do I do this?

I need to take music off my I Phone to download new operating system. How do I do this?

    Hey smllygoblue,
Thanks for the question. The following resource may provide a solution:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
Make sure your device has enough available space to install the update. Use iTunes to update if you don't have enough space, or remove content from your device. Tap Settings > General > Usage to see how much space your content uses.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • HT1414 When I downloaded the new softwared to my iphone, it put a password on my restrictions.  This new operating system is terrible.  Now it sounds like I will need to wipe my phone to get the restricton password off.  What was wrong with using icloud p

I guess the title says it all.  So am i correct that I will need to wipe my phone and loose all my contacts that I have spent years accumulating along with all my other data?  There were no passwords on this phone before downloaded the updated operating system.  This makes no sense.  Find my phone is very sporatic with this new operating system.  Jumps back and forth between phones on its own.  I am so frustrated with Apple!

When I downloaded the new softwared to my iphone, it put a password on my restrictions
No it didn't.  You did, whether you realize it or not.  Restrictions can only be enabled by user interaction.  They don't just turn on by themselves.
So am i correct that I will need to wipe my phone and loose all my contacts that I have spent years accumulating along with all my other data?
Why do'nt you just restore the latest backup that was made prior to you applying the update?  Problem solved?

  • HT1420 I recently got a new operating system on my two-year old windows computer, but itunes says that I need to authorize my computer and I already have authorized five computers.  I think I should deauthorize all but does that deauthorize my ipad and ip

I recently had a new operating system installed on my two-year old windows computer.  iTunes wants me to authorize my computer (again) and then says that I already have five computers authorized.  Should I deauthorize all?  Would that affect my iPad and iPhone?  I may have old, non-functioning computers that are still authorized and should be removed.

Your past purchases are not on the computer.   By choosing download all, those purchases will download to the computer.
Once authorized to your iTunes account you can control the computer.
When syncing the iPad the first time you will get the warning " this iPad is synced with another computer, syncing will erase all contents and replace with the contents of this computer"
Say yes, this is what you wan to do.

  • Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original location - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it

Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.

You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them.

  • I downloaded the new operating system and now the Bluetooth in the car does not play my music.  All the songs show the cloud with a red arrow pointing down. How do I download all of them again to my I phone please?

I downloaded the new operating system and now the Bluetooth in the car does not play my music.  The music on the phone show the cloud and the red arrow pointing downwards.  How do I download all the music again to my phone please?

I have an ITunes account.  I got it when I got my IPOD.  I've thought about upgrading, but I didn't see any reason to buy a newer IPOD because they all come with so much stuff I don't want/need.  I don't have my current IPOD filled yet and I really don't need an IPOD Touch that has capabilities that my Droid already has.  I don't need to be concerned with documents, mail, attaching to Facebook or playing games.  I can do all that on my phone.  I just want to maintain my music between 3 devices.
So now that I see it is not to my benefit to have this product---can you point me in the direction to cancel this?  And how do I get my music back?  Will it show up once I cancel my account?

  • New Operating System Drivers Did Not Transfer

I recently bought a HP Pavilion DV7, Product Number : LW174UA#ABA, from my friend and decided to install a new operating system onto it. My buddy didn't tell me much about what was wrong with it, other than it ran a little slow. I figured that it was cheap enough and I could easily throw Windows 7 x64 on it, instead of using Windows 8.1 x64 which he had installed on it a while ago, and use it as sort of a backup to my desktop.
I installed a new copy of Windows 7 Professional x64 on it and when the installation was complete I noticed I could not access the internet nor use the usb drives. I went into device manager and discovered that a handful of decives had the warning yellow triangle explanation symbol next to them. I quickly looked at the problem and noticed most of them had Error Code 28. This told me that I will need to install the drivers for the parts.
Okay, that shouldn't be too difficult. I found the WiFi driver and installed it. The issue was solved (temporarily) and I could access the internet.
After searching through forums I found out that my usb problem can be many different issues. I then came to the conclusion that a service pack update (since I could not find any usb drivers) should fix the issue. Nope, the usb drivers still have not been properly installed. On top of that, the internet now truns on and off. I will have access for a few seconds and then my computer tells me that I do not have any conntections.
Does anyone know what I did wrong or where I can find the drivers that may fix this issue?
I already went to the HP drivers site and installed most of the drivers. Things like the finger print scanner I am not too concerned with at this time so I skipped over those.
    This question was solved.

  • Security Problems with new operating system (5.1)

Using the new operating system you can use the camera when the ipod is locked. When you do this it overides the 4 digit security code giving full access to your ipod without entering the code. Surely this should not happen as the security of your ipod or iphone should not be compromised in this way. It needs a fix. Anyone else noticed this?

Are you sure you are just not trying to access the iPod before the time you set the screen-lock to engage has passed?
If the time period is set for say one minute and then you tell the iPod to sleep, you can still access the camera and then the whole iPod. But you can simply do that anywhap by jus sliging to to unloack.  If the time period has not passed you do not need to enter your passcode.  Othr users have forgot this and raised the same issue as you.

  • I currently have the Mac OS X v10.5.8 and want to get the new operating system but I don't know how to do it. I don't have the Mac App Store and can't get it because of my version. What do I do?

I currently have the Mac OS X v10.5.8 and want to get the new operating system but I don't know how to do it. I don't have the Mac App Store and can't get it because of my version. What do I do?

The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard. The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion.
To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list.
If they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=10.6+snow+leopard&_sacat=0&_odkw=mac+os+10.6 &_osacat=0
Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is still $29. You must have at least a model 2,1 MacBook.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • I downloaded yosemite as the new operating system but I can't find iphotos since then

I restored my mac to factory settings and downloaded yosemite as the new operating system but I can't find iphotos since then. When I go into Icloud it takes me to apple page. PLease help!
    <Re-Titled By Host>

1 - you need to update your profile as you state that you have OS X 10.6.3 in it
2 - for Yosemite you need to backup your iPhoto library and install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store - if you are upgrading from iPhoto '08 or earlier you need to also run the iPhoto Library upgrader prior to launching iPhoto 9.6
3 - Your photos are NOT in iCloud - it is not a place to store photos - it is only to move photos between devices (MyPhotoStream) or people (shared PhotoStreams) - they are (by default) in the iphoto library in your pictures folder - if you did not backup your iphoto library prior to erasing you disk then they are gone

  • I want to install CyberLink PowerDirector on my Macbook Pro but I need Windows software operating system to be install ? I need help!

I  downloaded PowwerDirector 12 trial and when I try to open it,  I got a message that "CyberLink PowerDirector was not compatible to Mac". After some inquiries, I found that I need Winows software operating system to be install in Mac! Can sombody help me?

For Windows on a Mac you'd have to own a Windows retail system installer with keycode, and use BootCamp utility in the Mac OS X to set up a partition on the computer hard disk drive (issues? if you have Apple Fusion Drive where a SSD + HDD are automatically co-joined) and then install the Windows system there.
Or get & use Parallels, or VMFusion software and use it along with Windows to run applications written for a Windows OS. And would need to have a large internal hard disk drive with plenty of room since the space for Windows takes away space for Mac OS X and its applications to run; and also you'd need plenty of chip RAM installed to run this other System plus software... and for Windows, its own anti-virual software not needed at all in a Mac.
Not sure about this, http://www.wondershare.com/video-editor/mac/ suggests in their advert to be something to use if you can't use the cyberlink product.
Or don't want to buy the upscale or pro Apple image software that does a fine job at a cost. I'd try & avoid running Windows in a Mac even though it can run three or more different OS, including linux/unix builds.
Never heard of either one: wondershare or cyberlink powerdirector.
(the latter looked 'more pro' for windows)
    {But check for any hint of some odd effects before you get and install any software from a marginal or unknown source, since adware can follow, and really odd things can start to happen then, like search engine redirects.}
Anyway, helpful information about your computer and its current configuration, OS X version, RAM installed, hard disk drive specs (free vs used capacity) are numbers that can make a difference going into a new thing. Even Mavericks alone is not an upgrade, often that requires a bunch of extra chip RAM capacity.
Not sure if this helps, another may offer more direct ideas...
    Good luck & happy computing!
