Do I Need a New Recovery Disc

Just upgraded to Win7.  Do I need a new Recovery Disc?

Hi,
All you need are the original Recovery Discs and the Upgrade Disc - if you ever have to reinstall, use the Recovery Discs to install the original operating system and then use the Upgrade Disc to get back to Windows 7.

  • I need a new recovery disc for my MacBook help ASAP!!!

I need a new recovery disc for my MacBook so I can format and re-install the default operating system. I have lost the original recovery disc that came with my MacBook years ago. Can anybody tell me how and where I can order one from?
Also, I do have the original recorvery disc that came with my MacBook Pro, could I not just use this or would it not be compatible?
    Help ASAP please...
    Thank you!

For a fee, you could likely order a replacement install-restore DVD for your MacBook. To get the correct disc(s) and match the hardware to the system, you need to know and have the serial number of the product handy, and be able to answer some basic questions; and have a form of payment, such as credit card.
Call the Apple Store online (main US number, 1-800-MY-APPLE) or the main Apple Support number for US, 1-800-275-2273.
Or if you're in another country, you could try calling a Local in-country support number and ask, since they may have to redirect your call to another associate. See link below for Support phone numbers.
An operating systems specialist or other qualified person will be able to try & help obtain the correct disc or disc set; if the computer original gray-label set is no longer available, they may be able to check their extensive database against your product serial number to see if they may have another full install disc that can work.
This other option, if it happens, based on your MacBook serial number and build model identifier, could be slightly newer than the OS X version shipped with the MacBook, and not be gray-labeled.
A replacement install disc in retail version would not include any original MacBook applications, while a gray-label disc set should have most of them as part of a multiple DVD set, if available.

  • In Need of a recovery disc

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC and a few weeks ago my screen was shattered but was covered under warranty. When my computer was sent into HP to get fixed from Best Buy they replaced my hard drive without telling me. When I was asked to pick up my computer up from Best Buy when it was finished they asked me to bring along my recovery disc which I didn't have so they ended up putting their generic windows stuff on my computer. Now I don't have any of if the applications that came with the computer. Is there anyway to get a new recovery disc for my computer? The computer that I bought was amazing and worth every penny but now that it doesnt have any of the original software, it sucks.

    Hi,
Yes..absolutely..you can get them..After you use it it'll becomes like the first day when you bought the notebook from HP..
You can either order it online or just call Tech Support and inform that Best Buy replaced your Hard Drive and they'll send you the disks..
The link below will guide you to order them online:
HP Notebook PCs - Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • Equium A60-191 - Need a new recovery disk

Hi there. Does any one know where I can get a Toshiba Equium A60-191 recovery cd from - the one I have has been badly scratched and I need a new one - can I download one on line?
Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you
    Dee :-)

The recovery disk cant be downloaded.
If you need a new recovery disk you must ask your local ASP. They can order it.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

  • Need Win 7 recovery discs for new hard drive

I am not sure which Windows 7 Operating system my laptop had, but I need the recovery discs to put Windows 7 back on my HP dv6-6167cl notebook.
My original issue was that my notebook was unable to restore or anything on its own.  After calling HP support and performing a guided diagnostics test, it was determined that my hard drive was bad.  I purchased a new hard drive and replaced it, but need to get Windows 7 back on it.
    Thanks!

Now all it does when i turn it on is show the windpows is loading files screen. then the starting windows screen. from there it shows a grey screen and u can hear the cdrom drive reading the disc but it just goes back to the begin with the windows loading files screen. Any information would be awesome. thanks!

Can you read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7 license key attached to bottom of laptop? If so you can download Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and  listed on the Microsoft COA sticker.
You can use the Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool to create a bootable DVD or USB (requires a blank DVD or USB flash
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
Then go to your  support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Re: Need Win 7 Recovery Disc for my Satellite Pro L750

    Hi all,
Could someone tell me where to download or get a copy of the OEM Win 7 Recovery disc for my Satellite Pro L750? The laptop has a new HDD without a working recovery partition and I don't the recovery CD.
    Help Please.

Yes of course you should make backup disks but this was my first personal laptop (unbelievable, right ? Never needed one before) and I wasn't aware i couldn't just make a recovery disk from any pc like I used to do for my desktop. The hdd is supposed to last for what, 5,000 hours ?
I would be lucky to have had more than 1,000 hours on it. And no games play either; it had an easy life.
As per Microsoft Forums I did a clean install of Windows 7 using a supposedly OEM setting download from Digital River (OEM in the 'channel' setting in the ei.efg file) but good old Toshiba must do something else in the hardware as slmgr /dli still states it's a 'retail' version so even though Microsoft would have given me a new product key (as to which i am entitled as i have purchased a licence when i bought the laptop), because the installation id states retail based, my genuine licence key number from the bottom of the laptop does not register as genuine when they check.
I tried my desktop pc oem windows 7 installation disk that I got with the pc (now there's a whacky idea, providing a disk with the purchase...) and no luck there either. The laptop was still locked to its own licence key and retail version. I'm guessing even if i bought a new retail windows copy, it still wouldn't work !
I still think $66 is far too much to pay to get the disks. I've already paid for the windows licence, But what choice has toshiba left me, other than to pay them their blood money.
I may be a slow learner, but I do learn. I will never buy a Toshiba laptop, or other Toshiba product again. Sure, other companies will have the same licensing setup, but I'm not angry at them !

  • HELP!!!!!! Need to create recovery disc for hdx laptop in Vista

I have been told by HP that I can create a recovery disc right from my computer.  Really ...... please someone tell me where and how.  Right now there is nothing wrong with my PC but I have been stupid and forgot to create it previously.
As an added note, so I can vent, my service pak ran out last month, which HP did not remind me of with an email like they alwasy do, and the guy I spoke to was no help with that.  He said there was nothing I could purchase now.  Also, I was told by more than one person that I had lifetime chat support online ...... well that's a lie too I found out.  So, they will not help me at all now!!!!!!!!!  The guy also told me the reason I did not probably get an email was becasue the support for this laptop ended in August and it will become obsolete this coming August.  That is probably the reason he said.  Wow why did I buy a HP computer and not a Dell.  When I had my Dell I called like more than 10 years after buying the computer and received phone based technical help on it still and no I did not have an extended warranty at the time.  They gave lifetime technical assistant via phone.  Looks like I may have to switch back.  Sorry HP but my experience has been less than good.

This document should help with the how to part of making the recovery disks.

  • Recovery disc for Equium M70 needed

I have tried to recover my Equium M70-337 using the product recovery cd that was shipped with it, but this is corrupt and I now have a blank laptop.
Where can I get a new recovery disc from? The laptop is too old for me to be able to order one from Toshiba.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This notebook model is too old and you will probably not be able to order new recovery disc.
What you can try is to contact nearest Toshiba service and ask if they have one that can borrow you for testing purposes.
You can also use Microsoft WXP installation disc for OS installation. All necessary drivers you can find on Toshiba download page so you don't need recovery disc.
If you need some help about it let me know.

  • I need recovery discs

My screen is not operating properly. It is like looking through a thick fog. I want to send it to a repair service, but they say that I need to include recovery discs to have my operating systeme reinstalled. I am running OS X 10.8.5 (12F37)
Help ... either with fixing the screen, or getting recovery discs.
    Thanks you

If you are running 10.8.5 you should have a built-in recovery system that is accessible by pressing and holding Command and R while starting the computer. No discs necessary.

Have you been calling using a mobile phone?  If that's a toll free number it may be being blocked by your service provider.

  • How to install window 7 from recovery disc

    DEAR TECHNICALSUPPORT
I have purchaase new recovery disc of window 7 and want to install in my hp pavillion g6 1201TX but there are not done from this method ..
Turn on the computer, and insert the first recovery disc into the drive.
Press and hold the power button to turn off the computer.
Disconnect all connected devices and cables such as Personal Media Drives, USB drives, printers, and faxes. Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware. Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, or power cord.
    Turn on the computer.
Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until a Startup Menu or Select boot device menu opens.
The selections you need to make vary slightly depending on the type of menu that appears on your screen:
If a Select Boot Device menu displays, use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive, and then press Enter to continue.
If a Startup Menu opens, press F9 to open "Boot Menu" or "Boot Device Options". Use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive. Then press Enter.
    plz suggest me .......

  • HP recovery disc set windows xp

I am got new Recovery discs from HP for my Mini Windows XP.  The frist disc boots and runs the file copy ok, but when the program asks for disc 2 it does not recognize it and will not read it. Is there some trick to get this to work

Most probably, the second disk is corrupt. What model is this? There might be a recovery partition already installed here.  Thus not needing those disks.

  • GRRR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! - Recovery DISC

So... When a machine is bought. Do you not sell me the machine, saying that it can hold more memory, more hard drives and about how much better it can be... If i choose to make it that way?
Well, I've upgraded the memory (good), graphics card (good) and now I want to upgrade to a SSD and put my primary OS on that, BUT! the recovery DISC that I created, per your (HP) instructions, does not work on it. Why is that? Honestly! its not even right that doesnt work on there.
I called tech support and they told me I need to purchase new Recovery DISC. Why should I have to. The one I made, that manufature told me to make works fine, but there is a glich in your software. Saying "The HD that is now in the system is smaller than the one orginally installed".
If you sell a customer on the basis that they will be able to upgrade their machine, then you need to allow them to upgrade. I am NOT swapping out the motherboard. I'm adding a primary SSD.
So... right now... I've been on hold for 25:13. Its enough time to create an account and post this blog to your form. This is the third HP I've bought.  It's probably going to be the last if we can't get this resloved quickly.
    NOW 30MIN!!!
Ok... I'm going to post its now 34min

Hello MrCarlsonOhio, I too, am sorry that you are experiencing problems getting your new SSD installed in your system and not being able to use your HP Recovery Restore Disk set to work as you need them to.
The HP Recovery Restore Disk set are designed to work on an original unaltered system.
If your system came with a 250 GB hard drive and you added a 128 GB SSD, the HP Recovery Restore Disk set could not possibly install the original software on the smaller SSD drive.
There may be a way to resolve this. You can make a drive image of the current hard drive, if it is still usable, and save the drive image onto another hard drive, either internal or external.
Then, with the SSD installed, use the boot CD from the drive image application and boot the system to the hard drive image application, and restore the original hard drive image to the SSD from the drive image stored on the other hard drive.
The hard drive image application would create the neccessary partitions and prepare the SSD and copy the original software to the SSD. I use Acronis True Image for this purpose and it has never failed me.
    Just some thoughts.
Please click the White Kudos star on the left, to say thanks.
