Do I need a separate folder "(Catalog Name)-Photoshop" in addition to "thumb5.cache"?

I have recently added PE12 to a new computer and added then converted converted the old PE6 catalogs to the new computer.  This was apparently successful, as I am able to open each of the "old" catalogs in the "new" system.  However, when I was looking at the catalogs folders themselves on the computer, I noticed that my largest catalog, entitled "Family Photos" (which was previously "My Catalog" but I renamed it) does not have a folder named "Family Photos- Photoshop".  All of my other catalog files have this folder, which contains the JPGs associated with each catalog.
I don't know if this occurred because of something I did or if it should be this way.  I had some difficulty in restoring and converting the PE6 files over to the new computer so I may well have done this without realizing it.
C://ProgramData/Adobe/ElementsOrganizer/Catalogs/Family Photos
My question is should I have the "FamilyPhotos-Photoshop" folder and if so, how do I add it now?  Like I mentioned, the catalog Family Photos appears to be working fine- it was really just an accident that I noticed the different file structures between it and my other catalogs.
The photos themselves are stored as "Pictures" on my computer, and are where they should be, as far as I can tell.  (It doesn't appear that I moved the actual location of the photos to the PE12 catalog file).
Sorry to ramble on, but I wasn't sure what was needed to answer my question.
Thanks for any and all help!

No, you should not, it's perfectly normal that you don't find any jpg files in the catalog folder, and that the real images are on 'Pictures'.
All of my other catalog files have this folder, which contains the JPGs associated with each catalog.
That is not the normal situation. It may be the result of previously moving or restoring catalogs, but it's not recommended. No problem if that works, but I prefer to keep the folder containing the catalog folders 'clean' without the images themselves, which are more easily accessible from the Explorer if they are in 'Pictures' or in any dedicated folder you have created for the purpose.
If you decide to move those pictures folders outside of the catalogs folder (it's not mandatory), do it from the 'Folders' view in PSE12 by drag and drop after creating a backup for safety.

    Can i create a separate folder in time machine, and store applications on it? will time machine mess with the separate folder?

    If you mean a separate folder on your TM backup drive, then the answer is, "Yes." TM will not disturb it. However, if your plan is to store items on the TM backup drive then a preferable method is to partition the backup drive:
    To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
    2. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
    You should now have a new volume on the drive.
    It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
    Be sure you provide sufficient space in the TM partition. It should be at least twice the size of the drive it is backing up. If it isn't large enough for both TM and your storage needs, then you should get a bigger drive or another drive.

  • Do I need a separate base station to stream to a AX

    I have an Intel Imac and I want to stream airtunes to an AX.
    I do not currently have a wireless network. My Imac is connected to the internet directly through an ethernet cable from my dsl modem.
    Can I stream just by connecting the AX to my stereo and turning the airport in the imac on, or do I need a separate wireless router first. The AX documentation makes it look like I need another AX or AE that I would use as a base station?

    AirPort Express Base Station (AX) - iTunes Setup
    Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
    AirPort > Base Station
    o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
    o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
    o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
    o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
    o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
    AirPort > Wireless
    o Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
    o Network Name: <enter a name or leave default>
    o Radio Mode: 802.11n (b/g compatible)
    o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
    o Channel: Automatic
    Music
    o Enable AirTunes (checked)
    o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
    o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    o Verify Password: (optional)
    o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
    In iTunes:
    iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
    o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

    Is there anyway of creatiing a different name for this Folder rather than 2013?
    If you are using one of Lightroom's "date-based" folder templates, then the folders are created in accordance with the image capture date, not the date that you happen to import it. If you specifically want to use the import date for your folder names then you probably don't want to use the Lightroom date template, and instead you'll need to setup your folder names manually.
    The vast majority of users that use date-based folder naming schemes will use a standard Lightroom template, i.e. based on the much more meaningful image capture date.

    Looking for answers on XMP files - where should they be stored as sidecar files?  With the original raw file or in a separate folder?
    Relatively new user of Adobe LR5 and PS CC, about a year old.
    If they should be stored somewhere beside the folder that contains the originals, where and how to change the settings?
    If I choose to write metadata to the original files, is that sidecar files or does the XMP file show separately?
    To be honest, I usually find a video and I cannot figure this out.  I have never received an answer on any of my questions by the way.

    You answered a prior question from me so I wanted to reach out to you about this.   I just need a step by step on how, if possible, to View LRCC on my MacBookPro when the main interface is on my iMac

  • Output catalog name on large product layout

    Has anyone come across a way to output the catalog name on the large product layout?
    The nearest I can see getting is using jQuery to parse the breadcrumbs or the url. Ideally I want to do this so I can make some css changes on the product page depending on which catalog it's in.
    Any ideas?

    Worked it out, this one's done using Javascript. Posting the solution here for anyone who needs it. In the example below, .main is my main div that I would like the classname applied to. This will take the second-last element of the url and apply it as a class to the my div with class .main. Note: there may be issues here if your urls have trailing slashes.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var url = window.location.pathname;
        url = url.split("/");
        urlclass = url[url.length-2];
        $('.main').addClass(urlclass);
        </script>

    Hi,
    Use the below logic:
    data: begin of itab,
               val    type  char20,
            end of itab.
    SPLIT  l_f_path  AT  '\'  INTO  TABLE itab.
    The last record of the internal table holds the file name.
    describe table itab lines l_f_lines.
    read itab index l_f_lines.
    l_f_filaname = itab-val.

  • Mountain Lion has created new user log-ins and moved old Users to a separate folder

    Mountain Lion has created new user log-ins and moved old Users to a separate folder.
    The new users are set-up as "standard" and the old ones were "Administrators"
    All files are missing, i.e. no desktop files etc. But they are located in a folder called "Users 1" which is a new folder.
    Can anyone help?

    Here is perhaps the solution :
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1191262
    follow the "Ratatapa's" instructions.
    1/ boot on Recovery part (command R)
    2/ find "terminal" in disk utilities
    and write "resetpassword" for root. Enter a new password for the root user.
    3/ reboot as root user (or when your are login, log out and typing to open a other user "root")
    in the "system pref" panel, open "users and groups" and then create new user with the same name, same password.. normally it must be asking you about "You are already an account with the same name" say yes. And it's done.
    4/ Log out. re-log as the normal user. desactivated the root user.

  • How to put webpage in separate folder but linked to menu bar in adobe muse?

    How to put webpage in separate folder but linked to menu bar in adobe muse? Need to do this because I want to make this page password protected from the rest of the website.

    Hello,
    While uploading only that page from Muse to your host, use the "Host Directory" option to upload it to a different folder. You can choose to upload selective page by disabling/enabling "export page" option for the pages from plan view in Muse, as shown in this screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/vpuIEjtVdZRS
    To link selective pages to the menu, use "Manual" menus. This will allow you to link any page to the menu, even an external page. You can change the menu type from here: http://screencast.com/t/Ej8x2KrJ
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • How do I designate a separate folder for files Converted to AAC?

    Can I stop iTunes putting files converted to AAC in the same folder as the original files and thereby forcing (a) me to have to individually "pick them out" and copy them to a separate folder and (b) their names to be changed by adding "1" to the end?
    Or is Apple determined to to make playing iTunes store music on Windows Mobile as inconvenient as possible?

    Pamela, this is the problem I am having:
    Windows Mobile Player (and Touchflo on my HTC) won't play tracks in the format that they download from the iTunes store in.
    To make them play on my WM device I have to apply the "Convert to AAC" function in iTunes. This is in itself intruiging because according to GSpot both the input and output files are in exactly the same format and bitrate, except that the output file is slightly shorter. All I know is that WM won't play the input file but will play the output file.
    The problem I have is that Convert to AAC puts the output files into the same folder as the input files. It seems to do the same thing with playlists. Consequently, to copy the tracks onto my WM device I have to at some point go through the playlist or folder and manually pick out the "converted tracks". This is what I am trying to avoid. The other small problem is that the file names have an annoying " 1" on the end of them, although I can learn to live with that.

    I have an i Mac with airport wireless.What steps do I need to take to change name of wireless(airport)???

    You should use Airport Utility, in your Utilities folder (or you can search for it in Spotlight, the magnifying glass in the top right of your screen) to administer the Airport. There, you can change the wireless network settings, including the network name.

    I have my catalog "Back Up Each Time Lightroom Exits" checked, and always have. That means the catalog should have been backed-up and saved everyday, if not more than once on some dates. So with a a major problem now and needing to use the Catalog backup from last Friday, I go to my Lightroom Backups folder - and the most recent one showing not only isn't yesterday, it's OCTOBER 28 !?? Where the hell are the daily backups between October 28 and November 14?

    Oh wow - JET LAG strikes agin - my apologies; I have located the missing weeks of back-ups. After getting home from a 30-day trip to Europe, I had changed the location of my LR catalog back-ups to an external drive, and forgot that I did that. I have found them, and all is good. Never operate Heavy Machinery without enough rest. Cheers
