Do I need Adobe Acrobat or just the Reader to fill in fields?

Do I need Adobe Acrobat or just the Reader to fill in fields on PDF documents?

If the document has interactive form fields, you can use Reader. In order to save the filled-in form with Reader, the document must be Reader-enabled by the creator of the form. This requires Acrobat or Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions server-based software.

  • I get a message saying: "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement". HELP!!

Hi i have an iMac with  10.9.3 and when i tried to open a PDF link or a PDF document in Safari 7.0.4  this message appears: "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement".  What can i do to solve this?

Back up all data before making any changes.
Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in the preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Repeated message "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User

I am now getting repeated pop-ups of a dialog box that says:
Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement.
However, there is no menu command or preference to do so in either Adobe Acrobat Reader X version 10.1.6, or Acrobat Pro X 10.1.6 CS6 (I'm a CS6 subscriber)
How can I make this annoying dialog go away? What caused it to start appearing?
    I'm running OSX 10.8.2 on a recent iMac, Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17)

There seem to be at least two different problems.
Some people need to run a copy of Acrobat/Reader and accept the agreement which appears (just pops up).
    Some people have something worse.
I recommend checking in Applications to see if there are any other Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader apps shown, and start them.

  • The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Adobe Acrobat" can't be read or written. (Error code - 36)

I recently did a clean install on a 2011 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Went to install Adobe Acrobat 9 with the DVD media and about 3/4 of the way through the install, the install stopped and the following window appeared:  The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Adobe Acrobat" can't be read or written. (Error code - 36).  I've tried to install a few times and get the same message.  Is Adobe Acrobat 9 incompatible with Mavericks.  I've seen some posts on Apple Support Communities indicating that it is indeed compatible, but no explanation why the error pops up.

The hard drive may be dying anyway, or the directory damaged because it is so full.  You should never let the hard drive get over 85% full.
    A -36 error is a read/write error.
All you did with the power is reset the SMC.  Does nothing to reset everything to factory settings.
Do you have your original 10.4 installer discs for the MacBook?
    Is your data backed up?

...trying to install Adobe Acrobat XI. The message reads " Installer mis-configured." Clearly, I can't proceed. Is a new version of the installer available? I'm not having a lot of luck with downloads from the Adobe site these days. I'm not too confident about purchasing online given two bad experienes with files that are missing (dll) and now this installer problem.

Thank you for replying, Jeff. I'm running Windows 7 -- 64 bit. Also, once the.exe file downloaded, I clicked "Run."

Totally Frustrated what are you clicking on prior to receiving the message the Installer is Mis-configured?  Also which operating system do you have installed?
