Do I need Airplay Speakers for iTv?

My iTv is setup in my Den with my TV. I have it hooked up to my home stereo and it works just fine. However I want to add some wireless speakers so I can have music out in my living room. Do I need to find wireless speakers that specifically say that they are AirPlay, or can I use ANY bluetooth speaker? There are a LOT of options with bluetooth wireless speakers, but not nearly as may that specifically say that they are AirPlay compatible. So before I buy anything I want to make sure it will work.

So how does that work? I hook up regular speakers to an Airport Express through a wire - then the iTV talks to the Airport Express which talks to the regular speaker?
If that is the case, then that would be $99 for the Airport Express, plus the cost of the speakers since I don't already have other ones. Not sure that would save that much for me - but I see how that would help those that already have additional speakers. Good to know for the future - Thanks!
Im looking at Sony SRSX7 32 watt speaker now (that does have Airplay) for $198 that gets really good reviews. Ill probably go with that, just wanted to see if I had to use Airplay - if not I could get a lot of other options.

  • What are the best AirPlay speakers for Apple devices?

What are the best AirPlay speakers for Apple devices? I would like to get some good speakers to be used with my iPod, iPhone and iPad. Ideally, they should be able to play using AirPlay and be quite powerful, but with a good design if possible.
I am particularly interested in the Fidelio range of speakers by Philips.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Best is going to be a matter of opinion.  What environment are the speakers going to be used in? How large is the room? What type of music are you going to play? What features/functions would you like in the speakers? What price range are you looking for?  All of these are going to effect which speakers will best fit your needs.

  • AirPlay speakers for outdoors

I'm looking for a set of AirPlay-compatible speakers for use outdoors on my patio.  I'd like to have them work *without* an AirPort Express, i.e., something like the the B&W Zeppelin Air or the iHome iW1, but for outdoor use.
    Any suggestions?

Since your TV is not an AirPlay server, it will not be able to use AirPlay to send audio to an AirPlay (Apple TV, AirPort Express Base Sation, or any other AirPlay-ready) device. Your Apple TV won't work either as it can only receive audio via AirPlay to be played back through either a TV or audio receiver.
At this point in time, I'm not aware of any manufacturer that offers something that you are looking for.

  • Speakers for h8-1520t

I bought a package deal from Costco-hp envy h8-1520t Beats Audio with hp2711x monitor- thinking speakers would come with it, but they didn't. The plug on speakers from my old Sony VAIO is a little too big to fit in the speaker plug-in spot on the new HP.  Do I need special speakers for the HP?

The connectors are 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) stereo mini-jacks that connect from the back of the computer to speakers and microphones. Either purchase standard speakers, or get a converter. Is the Sony plug smaller? If so, it's likely a 2.5mm mini plug. Cost $0.33 plus shipping

  • Connecting powered speakers for Airplay

My M-Audio DSM1 powered monitors have analog inputs (balanced XLR or quarter-inch TRS jack connectors) and digital inputs (AES-EBU and S/PDIF).
If I want to use an AppleTV for streaming music/radio to these speakers (I'm NOT using it with a television) to make an Airplay-based music/radio streaming setup which of the speaker's inputs would give me the best sound quality (or doesn't it matter?), and what cables or do I need to buy to connect the monitors to Apple's analog/digital audio minijack?

appletv work as airplay speakers not as a device which can use other airplay speakers
    so no you can't

  • Which is better for outdoor music bluetooth or airplay speakers?

which is better for outdoor music listening airplay speakers or bluetooth, cost, etc.?

The MacBook Pro has higher specifications, depending
on the model, and then CTO additional upgrades.
The Air does not have a Retina display, but has lesser
specs, so that may make a difference. They still offer a
    low-end MB/Pro w/ optical drive, w/o Retina; specs vary;
it may work in your instance. You'd have 14 days to take
a new Apple computer back, so keep that in mind.
    Good luck!

  • Can i play different songs to different airplay speakers at the same time ?

Can i play different songs to different airplay speakers at the same time ?
I know you can select the different speakers to play the music to, but wondered if you can also push different music to different speakers at the same time ?
If not is there a way around this other than going for something like Sonos ?

I found another solution in this thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=695360
Again you need the rogueamoeba guys.

  • Which Airplay speakers are reliable?

I have two Bose SoundLink Air speakers. Often AirPlay can connect, sometimes not. And when not, it's the same for iTunes and for iOS: a long wait and then nothing.
I also have a Denon AVR-X4000. Same story. Chance of successful connection is about 4 in 5.
The only thing to get AirPlay going again is to power cycle all devices - which is a pain because it involves removing and replacing the batteries from the SoundLinks. I really would like to just play music without needing to fiddle with the system.
    Questions:
Are some AirPlay speakers more reliable than others? If so, which speakers might work better?
Could it be that the problem is not with the devices, but with my configuration? How to fix? (Time Capsule with WPA2 Personal security. Already tried fixed IP addresses)
Once AirPlay fails to connect to a device, is there anything I can do to get things going again that is quicker than a full power cycle of every device?
I'm considering switching to Sonos - can anyone tell me if Sonos plays 100% of the time?
    -Ron.

all speakers including other brands that has a Line-In will work with the player for audio....

  • Bluetooth versus airplay speakers

    Hi,
I have an hifi that supports airplay and it is absolutely brilliant. Now I'm looking for something smaller for my bedroom. Basically all I need are speakers because my ipad deals with the rest.
But I can't find airplay speakers. All that seem to exist are bluetooth speakers or proprietary stuff where I have to download something to my iPad (which I don't want).
Are bluetooth speakers as easy to use? Is there any disadvantage compared to airplay?
    Thanks.

For Airplay I use my Airport Express with Airtunes. I have pluged into the 1/8 speker jack on the Airport Express that runs to my music amp (stereo) and my speaker wires run outside to some outdoor speakers. Works great.

  • HT4437 AirPlay speakers on one source

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. How many AirPlay speakers can run simultaneously from one iPad 3?  My goal would be to have AirPlay speakers throughout the house all running off one iPad on a wi-fi network.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

I realise it is a while since the last post on this thread was placed but as the thread is still being issued in response to questions it needs updating.
Whaale Player which is available from the App Store allows you to connect up to 6 AirPlay Speakers.  I have been successfully using it to play music from my ipad2 to 2 speakers for the last three hours.  Sadly it does not yet distribute radio.
    Regards.

  • My ATV 2G with latest firmware doesn't stream audio to Airplay Speakers

    Hi everybody,
I have an AppleTV 2G upgraded to the latest firmware (5.1.1 / ios 6.0.1).
My problem is that it doesn't stream audio to my airplay speakers. I have the B&O Beoplay A8.
The speakers work fine with my ipad and iphone, but not the ATV.
I checked the aiplay settings, the speakers appear there normally and I have ticked them and they are the selection for the audio output.
Instead AppleTV audio is on the TV.
    Can someone please help me.
I got the speakers just for this reason. To listen audio from movies on ATV from the speakers.
    Every help is appreciated.

Timing-wise the problem coincided with upgrading the firmware on my Airport Express to 7.6.4 (reverting to the previous version doesn't seem possible).
Reverting to an earlier firmware version is possible with v5.6 of the AirPort Utility. Note: This version runs fine under OS X Mountain Lion but will not install without a workaround. Let me know if you need it.

  • Apple Server as airplay speakers?

I have a Mac Mini runniing Mavericks / Apple Server. Currenly this is the iTunes server for the entire house. I also have several Airport Express units which I use to extend the network and attach printers and speakers remotely. I even have an Apple TV in the living room which I use for both viewing Apple TV as well as listening to the iTunes library as airplay speakers.
What I am wondering is, is there a way to "share" the speakers plugged into my Mac Mini via 3.5mm audio jack as an airplay device? (analogous to using the Mac Server as a TimeMachine server or sharing a printer attached to my Mac Mini to the entire network.). Specifically, I'd like to be able to control all speakers in the house via my iPhone or iPad INCLUDING the speakers attached to the Mac Mini server. Currenly I can only control all the speakers EXCEPT those attached to the Mac Mini.
    Thanks
    Michael

yes, you can stream music to TV
If i was to buy a appleTV then it would replace the one in the lounge which would be off to somewhere else in the house.
where ever you put the TV, keep in mind that you need to connect it to a HDTV (at least now and then, e.g. for the initial setup).
I don't want to loose the ability to control the music streaming from iTunes on the powermac.
you won't, but you may consider, at one stage, to get an iPod Touch or iPhone. with Apple's +remote app+ installed, you can control your tunes from anywhere in the house !
