If I understand correctly, you are talking about a commercial app that you want to license and sell to be used on a single server - and you want to prevent that app from being used against other servers?
The typical way would be to install a license on the server. This can be in the form of a wrapped PL/SQL package header only.
It contains a checksum that you calculate using data such as the db name of the instance, the IP address of the server, etc. A couple of parameters, that together, provides a fairly unique identifier for that db instance on that customer's network. (or use multiple checksums)
This checksum is then stored, wrapped, in the PL/SQL license package in the server.
When your application logs on to the server, it queries these couple of parameters, determine the checksum, and then match that with the one stored in the PL/SQL license package. If the same, continue. If different, license violation.
Also, instead of just wrapping the license package header, you also may want to to encrypt it. Also consider obfuscating your app code that does the license check. Do not store the name of the license package, do not make a static call to it. Construct a cunning dynamic call to the license package that is not easily identifiable when dumping the application code to hex or assembler.
And limit the use of SQL and PL/SQL to the bare minimum when doing the license check - as all the calls made will be visible via the shared pool. -
I have an HP Deskjet 5940. Whenever I print something, I get a screen that shows ink levels, which I usually can just close and the document gets printed. Now this screen says it is only an approximation of how much ink there is, and the pages that it printed earlier this evening in grayscale were sharp and clear...ink color nice and dark. So I do not think I needed a new cartridge, I think the printer does a poor job of approximating the remaining ink. But the machine refused to print, instead the "drop-shaped" light on my machine started furiously blinking, as did the power button and the "down-arrow" button.
Recently it did this same thing, and I just opened the machine cover and re-closed it, and it went ahead and printed my document. But tonite it just refused to printno matter what I tried, so I gave in and replaced the ink cartridge.
So here is my question...since the printer knows that it can only approximate the level of ink remaining in my cartridge, why would it refuse to print without giving me a way to "override" it to go ahead and print when I know the ink level is okay? Or am I doomed to replace the hellaciously expensive cartridge every time the machine thinks I need to?It seems simple enough, but this is one of the most effective ways of fixing printer cartridge error. Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached.
To reattach the cartridge check the following steps :
turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head.
Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report.
Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged. -
Every time I update LR to a new version I seem to need a patch to make it work..... once again here I am SOS! I've just update LR to the 5.7 version and It wont let me start it: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).
Your system is missing a couple DLLs that LR needs, but the fix at Adobe is to copy them to the LR folder which gets replaced for each install, so you have to redo it after each LR install. It would be worth documenting the process and saving the DLLs so you don’t have to ask about it each time:

You might also use the AIO210 program to add them as detailed in this YouTube video—maybe this is a more permanent fix, but since the files are from media-fire be very careful about what you do so as not to install a virus on your computer.
I’d scan the downloaded ZIP you download with whatever virus and internet security software you have and don’t be fooled by extraneous popups you might see during the download process. I was able to download the aio210.zip after authorizing one Captcha window and closed at least one bogus popup trying to get me to install other software. Need to Push Every Event in a Calendar Ahead One Week (AppleScript?)
Hi folks. I have an iCal calendar with many events in it. Some are multi-day, some are single day. I need to alter the start (and end) date of every single event in this calendar by one week. In other words, I need to push the entire calendar one week ahead.
It occurs to me that this could probably be done fairly elegantly with an AppleScript, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.
Has anyone done this, or something similar? Or does anyone have any other ideas as to how to accomplish this task without too much pain?

Welcome to the forums!
Yes, you will need to have ink installed to fax. The printer should go into an "error state", and ask for you to replace an ink cartridge to proceed with the functionalities of the printer, whether it be printing, scanning, copying, etc.
As for changing the copies from light to dark or vise versa, select the Copy Menu, Settings, and Lighter/Darker to change these settings.

In v6 airport utility "Join a wireless network" is not available once the TC is setup.
You must reset to factory and try again using the selection options.. and it can fail or not come up.. This is an extremely poor way to setup a TC.. and you should NEVER EVER DO IT.. that is why apple removed it. Since you are joining wireless it makes no difference where the TC is located.. since it would become a dumb AP and turn off its ethernet ports.
Place it right next to your main modem router, plug in by ethernet, and select bridge mode and create a wireless network. Never use Join a wireless network..
However for completeness here is the method.

Never ever do it.
If you need internet by wireless and backup to the TC.. then simply plug the TC directly into the Mac.

It depends on how paranoid you are.
There is a theoretical risk that a site in another tab or window could read through the history of your banking session and extract information, but that probably is very rare.
You definitely want to close the browser before leaving the PC available to another person. -

I just downloaded your recomended software, this software test the memory which is in the list of system, which system says these memory slots are availble. but the issue with my system is different. My all ram slot are working well on both memory slot cards, but in actuall I have 4 memory sticks of 2gb each (8gb) which was installed on one card and when I installed Lion OS X it is showing only 4 GB of memory 2 memory sticks are showing only other 2 memory sticks are not showing in machine when we start and see in system information. I replaced 2 memory sticks with other they were also working and I even tried placing all memory sticks on other memory slot card they were also working but only 2 slots are showing... only 2 memory sticks of 2 gb - 4 GB out of 8 GB. -

I think on your notebook are missing some drivers.
The SM Bus Controller driver is in the chipset driver package. So try to install it and maybe it works.
The drivers you can find on the Toshiba website.
Have you installed it with a Microsoft disk? The Toshiba recovery disk creator contains all necessary drivers and tools that you need and so this would be maybe an option for you to reinstall the OS.

Without inserting another device into the slot the only thing I can think of is checking device manager for the drivers for that express slot and see if they are installed or reinstall the drivers.
If the device works on another laptop but continues to have problems on the first one then there must be something going on with the express slot on the first laptop.

Are you making sure to connect the 1500 directly into the express slot in the laptop and into a usb converter?
When it is plugged in does anything appear in device manager with a yellow mark next to it? Is it being listed under sound, video, game controllers at all?

Can you explain more on this issue? I see by the emails the Express card slot is not functioning. What you are using in the card slot? Is the the HP TV Tuner card? If so, do you have another express card handy so you could test to see if it was the card or the slot? If your missing the driver you will need to use the HP Recovery CD to reinstall the TV Tuner driver.
