Do I Need Internet??

Do i need internet in order to transfer my music to my ipod?? Can i transfer my music from windows media player to itunes??
Windows 2000   Windows 2000

You shouldn't. You can use File - Add Folder to Library and pull in the Windows media files.
However... you will need (should use) the internet if you are going to be ripping a cd... it will pull the artwork and song titles down for you.

Your Aunt has a different problem with similar symptoms as the subject of a 60 Minutes article back in October.  If it is still available, the link to the 13 minute segment was at <Apps for Autism>.
Another website that deals with Autism may have links to Apps that will meet your needs, <Autism Speaks>.

  • Why is it a shared folder in the music app and why do i need internet to listen to it?

why is it a shared folder in the music app and why do i need internet to listen to it?

    Try in order:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod since you may have corruption that is now in your backup
Based on the info you provided it appears you did the restore from backup and sitll have problems.  Thus, I would just restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Does Apple TV need Internet bandwidth even if the content is available on LAN?

    Hi,
I was wondering whether Apple TV needs Internet connection just to verify user credentials or it actually uses bandwidth to stream media even if the videos are available locally on a storage device.
I am using an Apple TV 2nd Generation connected to a HD TV. I use Air Video Server to stream videos from a laptop connected to the same LAN.
Even though both devices are connected to a LAN I see usage of Internet bandwidth on my Telstra account.
can someone explain to me why ATV needs Internet to stream local videos?
    Regards,
    Kiran

I noticed the same problem with my ATV2. I have a laptop connected to a router at my cottage and it is not connected to the internet. As soon as i upgraded to 6.0 it took forever to stream movie that were in itunes. I tried both wirelessly and wired. I even bought a different brand of router and that made no difference. It worked fine before the update. When I brought the router home and connected it to the internet, it was instanteneous, but when disconnected it slowed to being unusable. I think that something changed in V 6.0 and it hasn't been corrected yet becuase I just updated to the latest version and it made no difference.

  • HT204370 Do i need internet connection once I have downloaded any movies or videos in my iPad ??

Do i need internet connection once I have downloaded any movies or videos in my iPad ??

As long as they have been fully downloaded (or synced from your computer's iTunes) then you should be able to watch them in the iPad's Videos app without needing to be online.

in order to watch the dowloaded movied do I need internet connection for it?

If you are purchasing the movie, then once the movie has completed downloading, an Internet connection will not longer be needed. That should apply to rentals as well, but people report from time to time that even after the rental has downloaded iTunes still asks to connect to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Do you need Internet acess to watch a music video bought from iTunes

I want to buy a MUSIC VIDEO off of iTunes but I don't want to wait for our Internet to load it each time I want to watch it so if I buy one I want to make sure I can watch it no matter where and when is that possible. I would buy it off my iPod touch and load it right off the Internet.

When you buy it, then it is stored on your computer.  You do not need internet to acces it at all.

  • Do i need internet to set this up??

Hi folks. I could really do with some clarity here. I just got a new 2nd gen Apple TV I want to use to stream content from my laptop to my plasma home theatre - mainly the music in my iTunes I want to access. (Im not very interested in purchasing vidoe content etc.)
It seems I have hit a snag though. My macbook has limited web access thanks to a 'dongle' connection so confirming my Apple ID on it was easy, however I don't actually have broadband here at home so there doesn't seem to be a way to get my tv to confirm my Apple ID. Is this correct? Do I actually need internet access for my tv in order to confirm my Apple ID and get this working??

There is some confusion about this, but it does seem that you do need the internet to do the initial setup.
Depending on your network setup you should be able to get round this somehow. On your macBook you should be able to share the internet connection which should allow the Apple TV to access the iTunes store and confirm the Apple ID. It's under preferences/sharing.
I say "should" as I suppose it's possible that there are issues with sharing a dongle internet, or there could be something else I've missed.
If this doesn't work then you may be able to solve it by taking the MacBook and Apple TV to a network that has internet to do the setup.

  • HT1657 do you need internet to watch a rented movie from itunes

Do you need internet to watch a rented movie from itunes?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
From my own personal experience, I have found that when I turn off the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi only iPad, I am still able to play rented movies on it. I have tried this perhaps four or five times and in each case, this has been the result. I have also noted that other users have had the same experience as I.
However saying that I have noted a small number of users that have stated they are unable to view rented movies without an Internet connection. This knowledge base article from Apple, also suggests that an Internet connection is required.

  • I need Internet Explorer for my MBP.  How can I get this?

I need Internet Explorer for my MBP.  How can I get this?

You can't — at least not if you want to run it in the Mac OS. If you have Winidows installed on your Mac, then of course you can run the Windows version of IE, but the Mac version hasn't been updated since June 2003 and is unsupported by Microsoft. It's very insecure, it can't handle a lot of current web sites, and it may not run at all in recent OS X versions. It was lousy in 2003, and it can't have gotten any better while the world was passing it by.
If there's a web site you want to access that says it requires IE, complain to its webmaster about the benighted design of the site. No responsible web designer codes sites for just one browser any more. Every web site should be tested and should work well with a large variety of browsers — IE, Firefox and Chrome at a bare minimum — and every site owner should insist that their designer(s) adhere to that "best practice."

  • Do I need internet access on my iOS devices to enroll with Profile Manager?

Hi, I'm trying to configure Profile Manager on a closed network. The Mac Server does have Internet access, but the network for the iOS devices can only have communication with the server, but not to the internet because of company policies. Is there a way around to make it work or do I need internet access on the iOS devices as well?
I've made the enrollment process in another network with internet access for every device and everything works well, but on the other network(no internet for iOS devices)  everything seems ok (from conection to the server, profile certifiacation and stuf) but the devices can't send or receive anything else, like pushed configurations and device info. Ports and everything is ok, I even read that they need to be on an open network so I know it all comes down to having internet access, but just wanted to ask if there's another way around?? Suggestions?
    Thanks!

You can share internet connection with your XP-PC using a router(as I do with XP-old MAC's,connected via cable). You may look for more info at:

Did you ever use a MAC before? Have you got Airport at your PC?Which?
    Good luck

  • I need internet explorer for mac, what should I do?

I need internet explorer for mac, what should I do?

There is no Internet Explorer for the Mac, only for Windows.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Specific web page won't connect says I need internet 7

I have the latest browser for Firefox- and there is a web page that I can't get because says I need Internet explorer 7 (it is only this one site- its for my car payments)
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == this past week

If a website actually says that it requires IE7, there's not much you can do, but complain to the website owner. It's really quite surprising in this day and age; IE (all versions) don't even have 60 % of the market.
