Do I need my PC turned on when playing music through AppleTV?
I got all the settings and can see my music library on my new Apple TV. However, when My PC is turned off the library music disappears. Is this normal? Does this new apple TV have a hard drive storage inside?
The ATV 1 has an internal hard drive to store your audio and video files locally on the unit. The ATV 2 has no such storage capabilities. So you cannot store music, movies or photos on it as you could on the ATV 1.
What would be really nice is if the ATV 2 allowed for an external drive so if you wanted to store files locally, you could. I like being able to play my music through the ATV without turning on any computers. It will be a sad day when the ATV 1 I have finally dies.

No sound when playing music through dock with third party apps

When I try to play music on my Iphone (3G, OS 3) through dock connected external speaker devices (like the B&W Zeppelin) using third party apps, i get no sound at all. Example of external third party apps are : wifi radios, alarm-clock programs, video viewers,...
So i get no sound at all through the dock connector using that kind of apps. Sound is ok only with Ipod, Itune (or other apple apps).
Has anyone encountered similar problems ? Any solution would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.I have done that from the first day (contacting the makers of 3rd party apps)- They say they use standard components provided by Apple. So I would like to know if anybody has succeded in listening, for example, any internet radio app though a dock station connection (zeppelin, or whatever speaker system that is not using the jack), or is this functionnaly actually blocked by Apple.

Do I need to disable the passcode to play music through car's radio/media device?
My new iPod touch uses a pass code. Do I need to disable the pass code to play music in my Volkswagen (thru Thunderbolt adapter to the radio/ media player)?????
My very OLD iPod would play immediately, but the new iPod only shows what should be playing (on the car's monitor) and will not play. Even the media controls in car won't work until I enter the pass code. Please help. Thank you.Hi Melomane1024,

Phone turns off when playing music in tunnel
If I'm listening to music on the train (commuting to/from work) and it enters a tunnel (about 200 yards long), my phone turns off.
If I'm not listening to music and go through the same tunnel, I lose signal briefly but the phone stays on.

It shouldn't erase any of your data, but you may want to remove the SD card first to be on the safe side.
If you have to do a factory reset, be sure to back up all of your data first because you will lose everything. -
When playing music through iTunes, it no longer starts at a random song.
I have it set to shuffle and it used to start with a random song. Now, it always starts with the first song in my library. I prefer the random start, but after the last update, it no longer does it. Can I change this in a setting or something??
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.

Have a hang-up when playing music through USB
Hello, everyone! I've got a hi-fi server( Linux Voyagempd) and I stream music files from My Cloud to it. I'm using USB flash drive 3.0 because the music sounds much better than from internal NAS's hdd. The issue is in hang-ups when streaming through NAS's usb port from flash drive. It can occur without any warning at any time. Sometimes I can listen to an all album, but sometimes there's dropping after two songs. If anybody knows any solution to this trouble, please, give me a hint how to solve it. Thanks a lot in advance!

I am having problems with the 3.5mm audio jack on my mac book pro. its been just over a year and now when i connect 3.5 headphones or speakers they only play the left speakers. the right speakers do not work.
If you go to System Preferences (from the Apple menu) > Sound and select Output, how is the Balance slider set? If it is all the way to the left, put it in the middle.

I get a radio signal when playing music through airport express
Is there a way to change the frequency or anything?
huh! what do you mean you receive a radio signal?
the wireless signal between your computer/router and airport express is digital. in no way this signal could be mixed with an audio radio signal. if you have wireless interference you will experience music drop out.
you get a radio signal, you probably have to review your audio connection. how are you setup from the 1/8" audio jack of the airport express to your audio system? -
Need some help! My iPhone 4 cannot play music through it's built in speaker, only with headphones. I also cannot adjust volume, it only shows "ringer". I really do not know when it starts. I already clean the jack and dock,reset it and still cannot be fixed. I updated it to IOS 7.1.1 recently only, does it have connection with the inconvenience I am experiencing right now? I have a new iphone6+ and have paired it to my 3 cars. When playing music from my iphone, the volume is very low and I have to turn the car volume to max to listen. I had no issues with previous iphone parings. Pls help.

Apparently in iOS 8 there are different volume settings for different applications
The setting on the home screen does not carry over to Pandora for example and it is different ( or at least appears to be) for the in-car experience.
So I would try to stream the music when not in the car - see if you can turn the volume up and then try again in the car

weird. When I do it, I have to spell out comma and period if I don't want the punctuation... I just tried the exact same phrase and got "As I said, please don't disturb me." Is there a setting under dictation that says something like "spell out punctuation"?

I purchased a song from iTunes however it will not play. I get a message telling me I need to authorize my PC, when I go through the steps as directed I get a message saying this PC is already authorized however the song still will not play. Any help?

pioneer 8400 DVD receiver player, as iPhone ios6 update now when connecting the new iPhone with ios6 to my car DVD 8400 unit, when playing music such as on my phone or Pandora the track button does not function or work at all not even if i press skip track forward or back on the unit it doesn't function everything works except that. on listening to radio or anything else related not pairing thru Bluetooth unit works fine, seems there to be Bluetooth update that is not making iPhone and unit not compatible at all. does pioneer need fix this problem with update firmware or thru apple need help. my iPhone was working fine before with previous ios 5 before.

Can smbody please tell me what to do to my iPhone 4s, when playing music or ringer, the sound will just stop without stop it.. I am really getting tired of this...
After updating to iOS6, I lost all sound for apps like YouTube, Netflix, games, and even notifications. The only time sound worked was during a phone call or when the head set was plugged in.
I did a full back up and restore- sound restored but only for a day before the problem returned.
Called Apple Support and was advised to do another restore, but this time restore it as NEW first, then do the restore from back up.
Seemed to do the trick.
Here are the instructions of what I was given- hopefully this will help you too:

Once you back up your device you will want to restore it.
You will need to have iTunes open on your computer screen.
Please turn your iPhone off.
Press and hold the Home Button.
Continue to hold the Home Button as you plug you iPhone in to the usb cable.
You will want to continue to hold the Home button until you get a screen with the message "device found in recovery mode".
Please follow the prompts and restore device as NEW.
once the restore is done you will have to set up the device and test the sound.
If it works you will then need to restore the device from the back up to restore your user settings.

I recently got an iphone 5S and my songs not purchased from iTunes are grayed out (phone only) and are skipped past when playing them through my iPhone. i have tried the following:
1) Removing all music from phone and resynced to iTunes PC library.
2) Erased phone and restored from back up
3) Erased phone and started as a new iPhone
4) Reformated the music files in my library that weren't playing
5) Deleted songs from iPhone and computer and re-imported CDs
6) Tried to redownload my COMPLETE MUSIC LIBRARY from iCloud.
7) I have also turned it off and turned it back on several times
8) I tried syncing through my macbook (only moved partial songs to it to see if it would even work).
9) I have tried to get Siri to play them, did not work.
10) All music does play fine on my iPod Touch 3rd (iOS6 i think) gen and iTunes on Mac and PC
11) I added a CD to my roommates iTunes and it plays on their iPhone 5S but not mine.
After all of these things it is now WORSE!!! My iTunes purchased songs are now experiencing the same issue along with some (not all) of the original music files that were skipping and grayed out. My conclusion is i have no clue at this point! I have done everything i have found online in EVERY discussion, i have spent over 60 hours trying to get this to work and i am asking myself, i bought this product why am having to fix this when it worked just fine on my iPod touch (3rd Gen) and iPod Classic!!!! PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS ISSUE FOR US!!!!I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!
