Do i need to buy a device to get data service

I have a motorola xoom and was wondering can i get a data plan for it without buying a device

Did you buy a Xoom that is Verizon-branded?  Many tablets (I'm not positive about the Xoom) have WiFi-only models that are chepar, but cannot connect directly to the cellular network.
If your Xoom is Verizon-branded, just call Verizon and let them know you would like to set up a data plan.  They will need the ESN from your Xoom (probably on the back/under the battery) and they will set up a data plan for you.  If you don't have a Verizon account, you'll have to start one, and you may have to pay a deposit pending the outcome of a credit check.

You download apps from the App Store on your iPhone or iTunes from your computer.  If from the computer, you then sync them to your 3GS via iTunes.

  • HT4157 I want to set up my data plan for my iPad however I am in Germany for the next 3 months.  Will this plan work the same here as it would in the US?  Is there anything I would need to do in addition to get the service I need out here?

I just moved to Germany and want to set up the data plan for my iPad.  I currently have the iPad linked to at&t however have not yet set up service.  I am afraid that I will pay for it and not be able to use it out here.  Will the standard at&t cellular data plan work in Germany or am I out of luck??

but not an AT&T  as clearly stated by OP ( unless you can use a Verizon/Sprint model on AT&T )
Looks like we both need to read the OP more carefully

  • Need advice for getting data service while traveling abroad

I will be traveling in Norway and England and want to be able to use GPS on my Galaxy S4.  I can get along without voice service, and can rely on wi-fi for email and internet access.  I will be traveling for about 3 weeks.  Any suggestions?

All the advise you need is right here Spokaneman! We want you to enjoy your trip to Norway and England. Yes, you can use your phone for data while traveling. Here is a link to our Global trip planner to get all the information about cost and what is needed to use your phone http://vz.to/1aGvDAs . You can add our bundle plan for 100mb for $25.00 per month or voice/data bundle for 100minutes/100sent messages and 100mb for $40.00 per month . You can also pay as you go with is $0.02 cent per KB and $20.48 per mb. Voice calls and text are extra if you're interested in those features.

First, you posted in the Mac App Store forum which are apps for the Mac OS X, not iOS devices.
You do not need to re purchase your apps. Connect your iOS devices to your computer, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Apps then click Sync

  • Do I need to buy PDA deployment licenses if I'm writing an application to a non PDA device?

    Hi
I'm starting on a project that will be using a board running windows CE, I understand that I have to buy the PDA module so that I can write the application and then download it to the target using active Sync but I'm confused about the license issue.  It isn't a PDA so will I need to buy a license for each board I download to?
    Thanks
    Karen

Would the license be per build then or device type build to be more exact?  In my project we would be using the same build on a lobby display but there could be several displays on each floor of the building possible as many as 20 devices but all using the same code.  We would have other devices using different code driving indicators etc but it would be fantastically expensive to charge each button with a license fee just to enable it to turn a light on and off.  I may end up with 4 different builds being deployed on 4 different types of devices but there could be a total of 20 instances of each device.

This is not my problem. However, I think it may be related to an old speaker. I was using the 30 pin adapter for about a week after the upgrade to 7.1.2. But I think with the update the speaker won't work anymore. I will try with a new speaker system. Thank you for trying to assist.

  • HT4910 I have 5 apple devices that are using the cloud.  Do i need to have ALL of the devices backing up to the cloud since they are all on the same USER LOGIN or do i just need to buy more space?

I have multiple aple devices ( Ipad2, Ipad3, Iphone 4, Iphone 4s, Mac Mini, and Apple TV)  I am using the same apple login to sync to the cloud.  My question is do I need to sync ALL of them to the cloud or just one of the devices since I have them set up to sync anyway, or do i just need to buy more cloud space.  Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You should sync all of them, if you want them all to share the same information.
Syncing is not the same as backing up. I suggest you continue to back up your mobile devices to your computer, unless you have a good reason to do otherwise.

    - Using an iPod touch would be the same as using an iPhone.
    - It all depends upon how you site handles different screen sizes.
    - If you view only on an iPad it may look poor on an iPhone, that is hard to read.
    - I would use/view other users iPads and iPhones/iPod touches to help decide what meets your needs.

  • Do i need  to buy an app for each device or one purchase.

Do I need to buy pages app for every device or will one purchase do all my devices.

One purchase for Macs and another for iOS devices. Note that if you're using a computer with Mac OS X 10.5.2, you'll need to either upgrade its OS or install the DVD version of iWork, which is separate from the Mac App Store version.

  • Do you need to buy icloud on all devices that I want it on?

I am trying to sync my new ipad and new iphone to my desktop(not a mac) to icloud....HELP anyone.
The ipad and Iphone keep saying that I the account is not verified and check my email on how to do it, but no email ever arrives...

No, you don't need to buy Compressor for FCPX to work.
Are you sure you meet the minimum tech specs for FCPX? How much RAM do you have? I'm wondering about how much disk space you have available as well.

  • Do I need to buy an ethernet adapter or can I use one of my existing AEXPs?

My situation: Just ordered a MacPro which will be delivered Monday. In the mean time I need to find a WiFi solution. The Airport cards for this model are not available yet, and I need Internet access now. Obvious solution is an ethernet adapter.
My wireless setup: I have three AEXPs in my house. One is connected to my modem, the other two are set up as WDS.
Given this can I connect one of AEXPs set up as a WDS to my MacPro via ethernet to use as a bridge? If so, would it be plug n' play or would I need to reconfigure? (BTW my modem is nowhere near where the MP will be and can't be relocated due to the way Verizon rewired my DSL line and made one jack dedicated to DSL. So connection to the modem via wired router is not an option).
Or do I need to buy something like a Belkin wireless G router to set up as an ethernet bridge? I've found instructions on the web how to do this, but obviously I'd like to avoid spending money if I have equipment to do what I need to do already.
    Any guidance appreciated.

Are you sure that you are going to be able to install
this later? It does not appear on the MacPro DIY page.
Duane is correct the Mac Pro wireless card is not a user-installable part.

You CAN add Airport or BT after purchase, but it is not user upgradable. You have to have an Apple service provider do it.
    AirPort Extreme
The Mac Pro computer has an optional, internal AirPort Extreme module connected to a dedicated 1-lane PCI Express bus. The AirPort Extreme module is available as a fully-integrated configure-to-order option or as an Apple Authorized Service Provider kit, which can be installed by an Apple retail store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. For more information, see AirPort Developer Note.
    Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Module
The Mac Pro computer has an optional, internal Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (enhanced data rate) module, with an antenna built into the enclosure. The Bluetooth module is connected via the internal USB 2.0 controller. The Bluetooth module is available as a fully-integrated configure-to-order option or as an Apple Authorized Service Provider kit, which can be installed by an Apple retail store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. For more information, see Bluetooth Developer Note.
Personally I would get it added as a CTO (BTO) and wait rather than have the mess of an external device and the hassle of having to install a card at a later date.

  • Do I need to buy an ethernet switch that has a WAN port

I want to buy an Aiport Express to handle a WiFi only iPad and an old PPC iMac with 10.5.8 on it that has no WiFi card.  The iMac gets on the internet from a cable plugged directly into its ethernet port (using DHCP).  The cable comes off an antenna at the front of the cottage.  A signal hits the antenna from a broadcasting tower about half a mile away.
I need to buy an ethernet switch for the Aiport Express to handle both the iPad wirelessly and the wired iMac.  Does the switch have to have a WAN port or can I buy one with five LAN ports?
Message was edited by: Roy Vincent.  Spelling error

So here's what I am planning to do.  I get myself an ethernet switch.  I plug my cable from my antenna into it.  I run a cable from one of its five ports into my iMac.  I run a cable from one of its other ports into my Airport Express.  I configure the Airport Express in Bridge Mode.  Now my wife can connect to the web wirelessly using the iPad and I can connect using the wired iMac --- and we can do so at the same time and indpendently of one another.   No?
    Sorry, but no.
You only have one IP address.  With a switch feeding two devices, it will be a matter of chance as to which device gets the IP address.
The other device will not be able to connect to the Internet, since a switch cannot "split" the connection.
Instead, you need a simple wired router to "share" the public IP address that you receive. In turn, the router distributes "private" IP addresses to devices on your local network, so each device will be able to connect to the Internet.
As I mentioned, a switch cannot perform the functions of a router.

You need to upgrade to Lion before you can setup an iCloud account which requires Lion v10.7.2.
Make sure your Macs meet Lion's requirements
You can re download Lion for free after the original purchase >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Once you have Lion installed you can setup the iCloud account on all your Macs. You get 5GB of free storage.

Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

  • I bought iWork family. Do I need to buy a app for iCloud too?

I bought iWork family. Do I need to buy a app for iCloud too?

No. You will not be able to work on documents that are stored in your iCloud.com account. You will able to download them from the cloud and revise them on your Mac. You don't need another app for that. You will need to buy the appropriate apps for the iDevices if you want to sync across all devices - Pages, Keynote and Numbers.
The documents will sync across all devices that are Set up to use iCloud. You need to set up iCloud on the Mac and your iDevices in order for the documents to sync across all devices. You must be running Lion 10.7.2 on the Mac to use all of the features of iCloud.
